Talking Alba Dairy Shake Mix

I just used my last packet of my Alba Dairy Shake Mix today. I went to 2 different grocery stores and couldn't find any. I live in the Dallas area. Any ideas where I might look???

They are wonderful with fruit for a breakfast shake...high in calcium, and low in points, too.

Default alba

Alba is owned by the H.J. Heinz company. Call them or go to their Web site and find out where it is sold -- or go back to the store you bought the most recent box from and talk to the manager. If there's demand, they'll supply. Absent that, go to a local WW meeting and buy the Smoothies that WW has just developed and are being sold exclusively in WW centers. They're delicious. When made w/ water, they're 2 points and count as a milk. When made with milk, they're 3 points (skim) and count as both milks.

Anne, I shopped at Tom Thumb yesterday, which I rarely do, and saw they had Alba with the hot cocoa mixes.

Talking

I went back to the Tom Thumb in Los Colinas and found the vanilla Alba. They did carry both vanilla and chocolate - but they've taken down the sign for chocolate.

I'm so happy to find a supply of Alba again! I mix it like a shake and add a banana/peach/strawberry (your choice) for a filling and delicious breakfast.

Dear Friends,
In the San Francisco Bay area Alba is difficult to find, but seems to be available in Raley's/Nob Hill grocery.
I love this stuff as a volumizer (that is lots of fluffy filling airy stuff and low calories).
I have two methods of prep that I would like to share:
Milkshake:
Ingredients:
10-12 ice cubes crushed
8oz ice cold water
2 envelopes of Alba.

Tall Plastic glass stored in freezer
& hand held blender (like Bamix or Braun)

Method:
Crush ice cubes in ice crusher
Remove glass from freezer
Add 1C ice cold water
and 2 envelopes of Alba drink mix
and just a bit of the crushed ice.
Begin blending and adding ice as you go.
Use an UP and Down motion while blending, to incorporate air into the mixture. (I have tried to use conventional blenders and because I could not draw air into the mixture, it did not turn out fluffy and thick). It will take abou 4 minutes to come up with a finished product. You may not use all the Ice.
Total calories = 140.
I hope you enjoy.

2nd Prep Method makes a fluffy mousse (approx 4 cups of flully mousse).

Ingredients:
4 crushed ice cubes
ice water
Optional--(1 tsp or flavoring if you like e.g., strawberry, banana, almond, etc..)
2 quart glass bowl stored in freezer
stand mixer with the flat blades (not whisk type).
This is a bit splashy at the start and I take a paper plate and cut a slot so it can be put upside down on top of the bowl when I begin mixing to stop any splashing.

Method:
Crush 4 ice cubes and place in 1 C measure
add ice water to the ice cubes in the cup to make
one cup total.
Remove bowl from freezer.
Add ice / water mixture and 2 envelopes of ALBA.
The vanilla seems to get much thicker than the others.
Begin mixing just crank up the speed to the maximum (this is where I really appreciate the paper plate splash guard).
After a few minutes maybe 2 or 3 the mixture will become thick and will begin to increase in volume.
At this point I remove the splash guard and use a plastic spatula to make sure any ice along the inside of the bowl is also mixed in.
In about 5 minutes you have four fluffy cups of vanilla mousse. If I am worried about binging this fluffy treat is just the ticket. It is good
with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or fresh fruit can be added. Store in the freezer if you want to eat later.
Total calories = 140.

Notes: I have tried this using uncrushed ice and it is a disaster. I found it worth the money to invest in a ice crusher (the snow cone or shave ice maker did not make the correct conistency of ice).
I hope you enjoy this a much as I. Thank you for allowing me to share.
