Question How many points to use?

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie here and to WW - I just started the Flex plan on my own 4 days ago. My question is regarding Points. I have heard from some that to lose weight you need to stay under your daily points allowance and others say that you need to meet it as close as possible. I just want to know what I should be aiming for - under or right on?

Thanks for your help!

Default Always eat your target points

US Flex plan in a nutshell:

You have your target points, which you should eat EVERY DAY. Weight Watchers isn't about deprivation; deprivation isn't a lifestyle and Weight Watchers is a lifestyle change. Above and beyond your daily target are your 35 weekly points allowance. You can choose not to use those 35, or you can use all of them. They can be spread out over the week, or all eaten on one day. They're there for you to use guilt-free! Activity points are earned by doing activity, roughly 100 calories of activity is equal to one activity point, and if you choose to eat your activity points, you have to eat them that day.

People who told you to eat under your allowance may have been members under the previous plan, where there was a range given (i.e. 20-25 points) for each day. Even in that plan, you always had to eat your minimum, but you could "bank" points if you didn't hit your max. The banking was replaced with the 35 weekly points allowance.

Best Wishes on your Weight Loss Journey!

-Amy

Your TargetPoints are your bare minimum to keep your metabolism running...you need to eat these at a minimum. You can add to your day with ActivityPoints and FlexPoints(WeeklyPointsAllowance). I eat 1 range above what W/W suggests and all my APs and all my FPs and still lose.

The more you eat while losing the more you'll get at maintenance.

I think you should always eat the recommended number of points.

I don't ever add the exercise points though....I figure if I exercise it's just good for me and doesn't equal more food.

I just restarted yesterday and the leader said you MUST eat your daily points total. Under the old selection plan there were 3 levels eat less, basic and eat more, I could never sustain weight loss on eat less, you need to find where your metabolism is not slowing down. If your body thinks you are starving it, it will start to store instead of burn fat. You might need to try adding a point a day each week until you find the right level.

good luck
