I have recently (3 weeks ago) restarted my points program at home!
I started WW (at home) back in Oct 1998 and lost 67 lbs...2 1/2 years, one divorce (yeaaa), and one fiancee later, I had regained 16 of those lbs. BUT! Since I restarted three weeks ago, I have lost 6 lbs! I'm joining a gym and getting things in order again. This site is wonderful and was a great source of encouragement for me, even though I only browsed before...I'm thrilled to be back!
My question stems from a thread wayyyyy back re: 1-2 pt flour tortillas. Does anyone remember or know of any?? I know Kelly S always seemed to be a wealth of knowledge....please help if you can.
La Tortilla Factory ( http://www.latortillafactory.com/ )makes a wheat one that is like 2 for 1 point. Personally I use the Mission Reduced Fat Tortillas that are 120 cal/0.5 fat/2 fiber each = 2 points (about 10 inches in diameter). They also have a 6" one that is 1 point but where I am they are hard to find.
I vote for the small, Fat Free Mission Tortillas, they are great for one point and topped with lots of grilled vegetables and a little soured cream with a sprinkling of cheese. They seem to be more than the larger for two points, maybe because I like to play with my food.
They are available here in the northeast all over the place. Also they freeze really well.
I definitely recommend the LaTortilla, whole wheat, 1 points ones, but I had to go to my Natural Foods store to find them and even they don't have them all the time. Same size as the 2 pt Mission ones, but way less points!
Grill some veges with balsamic vinegar and a little olive oil on the GF and make a vege wrap! Yum!!
Speaking of low-point tortillas, I found out something interesting the other day. I made tortilla soup for the first time. I found out if if you cut flour tortillas into strips, then boil them in soup, they taste like rich egg noodles for a lot less points. I used 2 tortillas (total of 2 points) and it made a lot more "noodles" than 1 cup, which would be 5 points. I've tried substituting them for noodles in regular chicken soup, and it came out delicious.
JDoll,
I've seen that on the cooking shows and been afraid to try it. Thought it would turn into mush or be a waste of good tortillas. Thanks so much for posting that. I'll try it now!
but, here in Mi. you can buy Don Marcos Fat Free Healthy Style Flour Tortillas. Very good, only 60 cal, no fat and 5 grams of fiber per tortilla (which now you are supposed to count as 4).
