Doing WW w/o going to meetings?

  • Hey there,
I'm interested in weight watchers, but don't have the time to go to meetings and officially sign up. Is there any way I can figure out how many points I need, or the things I need to know? Any websites? Thank you!

  • You can do WW online for $15 a month and it is EXCELLENT!

    Just go to their website:

    www.weightwatchers.com
  • ebay
    Hey My Blueheaven,

Try ordering the WW books from Ebay. thats what I did..but the points slider was given to me by a friend. Plus, this site has alot of information. Just go to WW General. I have learned alot on here about the program.
  • I started WW home in late Jan/early Feb and do NOT go to meetings but do visit this site a lot. I'm down about 75 lbs and nope I'm not perfect but let me tell you - doing points home is a bit tougher than going to meetings - you have to keep yourself honest. The plus side (no pun intended) is that there are a wealth of recipes, topics right here to get you help.

If you need a "buddy" give a shout -
My highest known weight was approx 350 - take 75 off that and you get where I am today
  • I tried WW once many many years ago, through a WW At Work program. I lost about 40 pounds. Then I thought I could do it on my own and save the fees. But for me, it was the group support that was the key at that time in my life. The diet itself is ordinary, but like any other diet, it only works if you stick to it. As the weeks went on, I was less motivated to stick to the plan, and regained the weight.

These days, however, we have online support groups, whether through this site or official sites, so that helps people stay motivated You may try without the meetings and do just fine, though. Just remember that you can always change course if you need to

    Good luck!
  • I've been doing WW for years without attending meetings, but I do find that I can't do it without going to the weigh-in once a week. It keeps me honest.
  • I've been doing it a week on my own at home and have lost 2 lbs... its not as hard as I thought it would be. I have pleanty of support at work and home which helps me stay on track.
  • Spinsky,
Nice to see someone from my town on these boards. I visit often but very seldom post but when I seen where you were from I had to say hi. I'm in Eastern Passage, live in Dartmouth all my life. How are you doing on program? I am trying to decide which program I want to do, WW or South Beach, but have to get myself motivated again. I did manage to join curves in the new year so at least I'm headed in the right direction. I have to agree with you on needing the weekly meetings and weigh in, someone to be accountable to, I need that too but can't afford that and the gym so I figure I have the program for WW so I will do that at home and weigh in at the gym. Just one more question, how old are you, wondering if we may have gone to school together, I'm 39 and graduated in 83 from DHS.
