Default Quick Basic Question

I'm not doing WW but my mom is thinking of signing up. She says she heard somewhere that some foods are zero points (veggies, fruits, popcorn possibly?) so you can use them as "filler" if you're hungry or to round out meals. True?

Thanks in advance!

Just non-starchy veggies such as broccoli, green beens, raw carrots, and the like.

There are low point foods such as fruits (average size or 1 cup is usually 1 point with a few exceptions) and http://pub121.************/fdottisweightlosszonefrm61.showMessage?topicID=58. topic are usually a good low point option too....To tell you the truth I have never been hungry on W/W like I was on a low-carb or other diet program....because W/W is a lifestyle change and not a diet.

Thanks a lot. We were curious about the whole "zero points" thing. It would make sense that high fiber veggies and fruits would essentially be zero points.

Thanks again for the info!

FRUITS ARE NOT ZERO POINTS - only some veggies (the non starchy ones). Points for fruit must be counted and also some veggies like carrots (over 1 cup).

Some fruits are zero points, according to the Brand Name Section of the WW Complete Food Companion. ("Points values in the general listing section may be different than the foods listed by brand name because they are an average of several brands." - page 4 of the Food Companion.)

In the 2002 WW book, according to the Brand Name section, 1/2 medium Dole or Chiquita grapefruit = 0 points; 1 1/4 cups of Schwan's Frozen Strawberries = 0 points; and Dole Raspberries, 1 cup = 0 points. There are other differences, too - a medium Dole or Chiquita banana is 1 point, rather than 2 points for a banana as listed in the General Section.
