Hi Nascar Girl...
There's a Texas Roadhouse in my area. I don't see them listed on Dotti's site, and she has over 300 restaurants listed.
I do know that the Roadhouse here offers sides...when you order your meat (I get the grilled chicken) then you can pick 2 or 3 sides. I love the side of steamed mixed veggies (broccoli, carrots and cauliflower). You could order a baked potato as one side dish (or baked sweet potato is really good) and then 2 sides of the steamed veggies. Tell them you don't want anything on your potato, or to bring a little butter on the side. They HEAP the butter on it. If you get a salad ask them for the dressing on the side, and then use the dip-the-fork method. You really cut down the amount of dressing you use that way.
You don't have to go without dessert either...save some points for a piece of your son's b'day cake.
One thing that is a little tempting at the Roadhouse....they have buckets of peanuts in the shell right at the tables. The kids love the idea of eating the peanuts and being allowed to toss the shells on the floor. It's just too easy to dip your hand in the bucket....I have to shove it out of reach.
Let us know how it goes for your dinner! and happy birthday to you son.
