I have to go to my Spanish class but I wanted to say a quick hi. It's hot as blazes here, too, in the mid-90s and humid, humid, humid! My apartment only has window A/Cs and there isn't a way to put one in the bedroom, so it doesn't quite get cool enough in there. I have two fans going, one trying to suck the cool air in, but still I haven't been sleeping well all week. If there was a rainstorm, I'd go stand outside!
Very busy, but wanted to drop in and add my comments to the hair removal discussion! I am a big fan of waxing the bikini line area, but at a salon - the home waxing strips don't work very well. Yes, it hurts, but I think the results are worth it - I stay completely hairless for at least 2 weeks, and the more often you go, the less dense the hair grows up. And they can always "clean up" (sorry for being graphic!) down there much better than you could if you waxed yourself at home. I have sensitive skin and usually have quite a bit of redness for about 24 hours after I have it done, so make sure not to do it right before you plan on putting a bathing suit on! I haven't tried anything other than shaving and waxing though, so I'm sure there could be some better methods out there. Maybe I should try lasers - the thought of no more hair EVER is a good one!!
Jen - The heat is supposed to break here tonight as well, and we are also expected to get some nasty storms when it happens. And my race this evening is rain or shine, and is along the lake right where the storms are usually the worst, so it should be interesting! But it figures that I am leaving for Orlando tomorrow morning right as it is supposed to get cooler here!
JenK... we are going to Orlando in November for vacation. Have fun! And your waxing only lasts 2 weeks?? Maybe I will stick with what I am doing now. If it lasted 3-4 weeks, I would be more inclined to have it done. Oh decisions!!!!
Kim... your mood seems to be lightening! Hope your work friends are able to make your WW meetings more jolly (how is that for a word!). Sometimes I feel like I am a kid at the meetings too. But there are younger people, they just aren't friendly and joking... everyone is soo serious! I quit my Wednesday meeting because the leader sucked and I didn't enjoy the group!
We ordered in lunch and I got my sammich with no mayo! YAH ME! only 7 points according to Dotti!
Wow! I couldn't imagine living without A/C!! Everyhouse in my neighborhood has central A/C or at least window units in every room!!! But then again, it would be like no heaters in Minnesota.
hahaha or no heaters in Colorado!!!
Ok, enough from me.
I'm eating a large chef salad for lunch. I figured it with 2 TBS real ranch dressing and the total points is 10. At least it is VERY filling.
I'll see everyone later!
Jen - I am totally hair-free for 2 weeks after the wax, but I can easily go 4 weeks without needing it done again. I only go once a month and touch up with a razor if I need to. I think it is a good idea if you are going on vacation or something and will be spending a lot of time in a bathing suit. Why does hair removal have to be such an issue??!
Jenk... Totally. Men can have hairy legs, but why do we have to deal with it?? Ughhh... I do plan to be in a bathing suit... if I can lose a little more weight. OK, either way I will be in a bathing suit... if I don't lose the weight I want, it will be a 1 piece... if I do... it's the bikini I have in the drawer! I have been doing some Tae Bo and other things to tone too. But I still have a belly pudge from having Emma... I hope it shrinks a little!
I hate shaving down there, but I don't feel comfortable enough to have it waxed by a stranger. How "confidential" is it?? I wish you could get a waxing the same time you could get a pap. Wouldn't that be convenient???
With as much time as I've spent with my legs in stirrups at the gynocologist lately (God, I HATE that), I think I'll refrain from having my bikini area waxed by someone, thank you very much! I stick to shaving. 'Course, I rarely wear a bathing suit without shorts these days, anyway, so it doesn't really matter!
Speaking of heat, another reporter is working on a funny story about heat and all the cliches that go along with it. You know, it's hot as this, hot as that.
By the way, I went today to get a slice of pizza for lunch at this New York pizza place and who do I run into but Beth, my friend who just joined WW. Hahahaha! She did well this week though, lost around 3 pounds.
Kim... stick with that girl! She apparently is doing something right! And if you figure out what it is... let us know. I would love to lose 3 pounds in a week! Eat what she does, do what she does... basically, be her stalker. Then give us your secrets!!!
OK I found this low point 'rita and it is actually good. Make sure you use a good Tequila and it will taste better:
Glass almost full of Fresca
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 pack of splenda
1 shot of tequila
Over ice.
I don'e know how it is blended like a frozen rita, but I like mine on the rocks anyway.
Enjoy! Is it time to go home yet? I am so bored!
Oh ~ Hair removal...I shave with the new Venus razor. I love it. I only wax my eyebrows so I have no opinion on the bikini. My best friend goes brazilian and raves about it. I'm just too chicken.
OK, this is TMI, but since Kay brought it up... when you shave it all off... it hurts like heck when it grows back. Just a warning!!!! I saw that Nads and Epil-Stop stuff in the store. I would NEVER EVER use Epil-Stop, because it seems to freaky to me. But Nads is supposidly a wax like thing! What a strange topic I started! Seems like it should be Friday....
Kay... at my Pampered chef party we made a 'rita that wasn't low points, but interesting!
1 bottle Corona Beer
1 can Lemon or Lime frozen concentrate
1 can 7-up
Tequila to taste
Kay: I use a men's razor, the Gillette Mach 3. I got it free in the mail (I don't know why, but I tried it anyway) and it works really, really well. I haven't cut my legs since I started using it. Plus, the refills are a lot cheaper than the overpriced women's razor blades. And why, I wonder, does women's shaving cream cost more than men's? It's a conspiracy, I tell you.
KIM.... the Mach 3 is less than womens???? It is a conspiracy! Write a story about that!!! I use the sillouette or something like that, but refills cost the same as a new razor... they are like $6 or something. I used to use the cheapo Daisys... and really like them for cheap disposables, but I thought a non-dis. would be better, but I hate buying refills! I may try the Mach one! hummphhhh......
