MOusie,
I don't have IUD experience, but I think I'd give my doc a call to see if this is par for the course. I'm also glad your weight is down. I'm having a good day but yesterday was the pits. I told my dh I think I needed a food binge to get it all behind me. I can't imagine that was really a good idea, but today I've been much more focused and eating far better than I had been. I've been making good choices and I'm going to go have dinner now. Good luck to us all.
Love,
Judy Itry

Hi everyone:

Joined Curves again last night - so will be going there tonight. The other program I did free for a month is pretty much the same as Curves, but Curves seems more established so decided to give it another go.

Was just reading about the Sonoma Diet & was wondering if it could be combined with WW - any thoughts???

Made cabbage rolls last night & had for lunch - very good. Missed them over Christmas since I didn't make any & no one served them when I went visisting. So was nice to finally have some. Don't know how to count them - but I counted as 2 Pts each since I used extra lean beef & brown rice & tomatoe juice with spices for sauce & cabbage.

Lets get moving our butts & drinking our water. Bye for now.

Bandit, good luck with Curves! I've heard a lot of women rave about it.

I don't know what the Sonoma diet is...more details?

Thanks for the reminder to drink water--that's something I've oddly been struggling with lately! Dunno why. Maybe it's because I'm drinking protein shakes a lot more, so I'm getting more fluid that way.

I had a personal best this morning, Turtles! Went out for my walk and did 3.1 miles in 50 minutes! My goal for the year is to be able to do 3.1 miles in 30 minutes...at least I've got 12 months to knock 2/5 of my time off!

Food is going well. I'm not cheating, at all (no sugar, no fried foods, minimal white flour). I'm even under 300 mgs/cholesterol every single day. My weight is steady, though...hmm. Though, I am having issues with getting my calories up. I finally had to resort to a protein shake at 9:00 last night to just break 1600 calories. I was poking around on the Biggest Loser "diet" site (affiliation of e-Diets) and they said my calorie goal should be 1,925! OI! I'm NOT trying to starve myself, I'm just really....well, I guess I'm a bit afraid.

I'm very focused on keeping my cholesterol and sodium down, and I need (due to personal physiology) to avoid carbs at night except for ~1 cup of veggies. It makes me feel like I'm in a box, sometimes, and I'm afraid to eat anymore and push those numbers up. I'm eagerly waiting for my doc's appointment in February, so I can get re-tested and we can see what's going on.

Though it's interesting, too. This fear that I have now has meant that I am NOT tempted. Anything "cheatlike" that I look at I immediately feel sick over--how much sugar, how much sodium, how much cholesterol? Is it worth it? Every single time, so far, the answer has been "no". This is the way to avoid cheating--just get really scared!

Anyway, Turtles. Must get cleaned up! Keep Turtle-stepping!

Hi Turtles!

Hope everyone is doing well. I have been good this week so hoping for some kind of weight loss at ww meeting tonight. After that I will be going to Curves - so have a motivating night ahead of me.

Mousie - like the "turtle stepping" thing!

Talk later.

Good morning Turtles!

Bandit, did you have a good weigh-in? How was your workout at Curves? I'm eager fro news!

Judy, how's life treating you? How's your foot? Inquiring minds want to know!

I weighed in at 275.5 today, so another one of those mystery pounds are gone! I'd like to have them both (plus more!) gone, but I'll take whatever I can get. I've averaged 1544 calories/day this last week, according to fitday, and 257mg of cholesterol. I'm still low on calories, but I'm doing okay. I'm trying very hard to overcome the mental thinking that "eating more food (even if my body needs it)" = "I deserve to be fat". Took a long time to really ingrain that belief, I guess, so I'm trying to be patient about overcoming it.

I'm back at my good solid workouts, and I feel great! I've lifted weights and done cardio this week, I got my personal best time so far with my walk...and my thighs seem to be leaning out, along with my tummy tightening up! Woo me! So I'm not too particularly worried about the num bers on the scale right now.

Keep Turtle-stepping, and you'll get there!

Bandit,
So glad you're back at Curves. It really does the trick for you. I think the Sonoma Diet could easily be incorporated into WW's just by counting points.
It certainly is the new famous diet of the year, so let us know if you try it.
Mousie,
on doing weights and setting personal best times. You're fabulous! As far as food, keep concentrating on eating good stuff and drinking water and you'll be fine.
I was up again this WI and then did well and then today I got a little goofy again. I'll count it in as points for the week and keep on keepin' on.
You all take care and do all you can and so will I!
Love,.

Hi turtles!

Had a good w/i - was down 1.6# then directly after got in a Curves workout.
So felt good when I got home.

Put a stew in my crockpot yesterday morning before going up to bf to work for the day and it was pretty good in points. 26 points for the whole pot and that made 6 bowls. So I had that for supper - but then went to bingo & still had to have some munchies. But I counted it as my extra flex points so will have to be extra careful over weekend with my snacks.

Right now I am off to Curves again before I start my errands. Good way to start the day.

Mousie - nice job on losing that lb & doing so great with your exercise!

Judy - I am going to buy the Sonoma book over the weekend (got a Chapters gift card for Christmas) sounds pretty interesting from what I have read.

So I hope it will work along with ww - which I need for portion control & group support.

Also remember if we get side-tracked (like we all do) just get back on track ASAP.

Have a great "turtle" day!!

Okay. The nurse at the doctor's office says that what my body is doing is not out of the realm of expected side effects for the first month. It should settle in. I have an appointment on the 8th to check everything. So until then, I think I'm okay.

In all my research I have found, consistently, that for the size of my body I need to eat at a MINIMUM about 2,000 calories a day. I have ignored this fact for a long, long time. I finally got it through my head--don't ask me how--that it's worth trying, at least. I mean, in theory this should help me lose about 2 pounds a week. And because I'm monitoring my cholesterol/sodium/vitamins/macros so closely, I'm eating healthy, whole foods. So I'm going to take this blind leap of faith and see what happens.

Of course, I'm afraid of undoing the effort of the last 6 months and gaining my 18.5 pounds back. But...I have to try.

So I've broken 1900 calories for 2 days running. It's taken conniving, figuring, measuring, and three trips to the grocery store. But I've managed to do it. And I've stayed off the scale. I'll check friday. Until then...I'm eating my veggies and my healthy foods and doing my workouts. We'll see what happens.

Keep on keepin' on, Turtles!

Mousie, and
It's always hard to change anything----and food is certainly at the top of that list. By eating 2,000 calories a day you should lose more, not regain some of what you've lost. I know this is tough, but look at it this way: you're fabulous and you're doing it! Weigh to go. It's tough to change long-held beliefs, but you are so into this that I know you can do it. So keep on eating your healthy foods and you'll have a positive outcome.

Bandit, I am blown away by how great you are doing. Cooking right, measuring portions and getting to Curves is a dynamo push into fitness and good weight. Weigh to go! and

We can all do this. I think I've gotten on top of my head and I plan to do well today. Please wish me luck and remind me that baby steps will get me where I want to go.
Love,
Judy Itry

You're doing great, Judy. Soon you'll have a string of good days, and your body will be humming along happily! I know this is possible for you.

As for me, I'm just bouncing along. It's been 4 days of eating over 1,900 calories/day, and 4 days of not weighing myself. EEEP! But I'm determined to give this a shot. I'll be weighed at the doctor on the 8th. Til then, I'm hanging in there and trying to trust in...oh...EVERYTHING I've read!

Turtle on, guys!

Mousie,
Wow, you're getting quite a record of successful days under your belt. It's great to think back to the time months ago when you came back to 3fatchicks and the Turtles and to smile at the real heavy duty progress you've made so far. I understand your uneasiness about the whole thing, but like you say you'll just try to trust EVERYTHING you've read.
Weigh to go!

Bandit, here's to you for keepin' on keepin' on in the New Year! Your signing up for Curves makes me realize that my toe is A-OK now and getting back on my is the thing for me to do now. When I exercised about a month ago, I was treadmilling it for about an hour and I would do that about 3x a week. That gave me a good outlook about what I was doing for myself and it also gave me activity points to work with. (I would ignore them and I think that's how I lost weight since I do Core and eat larger portions than most.)
Good luck to us all today!
Love,
Judy

Hi everyone:

Missed ww on Thurs - went to bingo with mom instead & didn't even win, but fun as usual. Went to Curves on Sat & had good workout.

But, my eating wasn't great. Had dinner out with friends Fri & dinner with bf daughters family Sun. Didn't do too bad except for the bread & desserts.

Today I started the Sonoma diet along with WW. It is a Mediterranean type thing - but seems like lots of cooking. So we will see how it goes. No processed food & no fruit for 10 days or sugar. Might be too strict for me but we will see.

Going to Disney World in Florida Feb 11 for 1 week, so looking forward to that. We are staying right in there for the whole time. Will be nice to get some warm weather. Seems long time since summer, even though I went tanning - not the same.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Talk soon.
