Thursday Chatters

Enough, already!
Since we've gone to 3 pages, don't you think it's time to start another thread?

I never seem to get away from work on time. I'm supposed to be out of there at 12:30 p.m. (except on Thursday when I pull an all day). There's always some last minute thing before I can turn it over to the guy secretary.

Dee and Kimmy-jo, where are y'all???? Jill must have forsaken us.

I have a gyn appt. next week. I am determined to look better (drop some pounds) by then. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Tina

auntie 06-21-2001 08:14 PM

Thanks for the new thread Tina! :p Sorry about working late!
I went to the gyn about 2 weeks ago. She just said "well, your weight is stable." Hopefully it won't be next time.

Got my chicken last night and Chinese today ( a friend brought it over). It sure was good. Hope I don't gain since I've only been able to sit around all week.

Hope ya'll had a good day. Believe it or not this is a short post!!!!

Susan:dizzy:

Tina 06-22-2001 02:09 PM

Happy Friday. :)
IT's so great to be at the end of a work week.
Be proud of me, group---I've drunk 4 glasses of water so far and will drink 6 more. I'm determined today. he..he..

Susan, you got your Chinese food----yea
You sound like you are feeling pretty good. Keep up whatever is making you well fast. You are so lucky not to have all the mosquitos. Larry went out and sprayed the front porch with And & Roach spray. That's all we had. Would you belive, it worked! I didn't have any trouble getting outside this morn without a herd of them coming inside.

Tammy, those scales must be thrown out! I hope things settle down at home so you can relax. It's difficult not to pick up on our husbands' moods.

Laura, Linda, Kimmy-jo, Sis, etc. etc. What are your plans for the weekend?

I'll be washing and hanging everything outside. Yuk. I've got to get Larry ready for his trip starting Sunday afternoon. I'll be a widow - you will probably see more of me on the threads next week because I'll be so lonely.

Stay OP, group.
Tina

auntie 06-22-2001 06:19 PM

Hi,

Hope everyone is doing good today. I actually got up and walked around the house a little. Hopefully it won't be too much longer on both crutches and I'll go to one. By the way, that was the BEST chinese food yesterday. I ate it all. :D

I have a ton of homegrown tomatoes. I'm looking for a salsa receipe. I'd like to make some since I love it.

Tina, I bet bug spray is in great demand there. Good idea spraying the porch. That's great drinking all of your water!

Where is everyone? Have a great weekend!

Susan:wave:

Tina 06-22-2001 09:56 PM

I'm not sure if I'll get 10 glasses of water down me by the time I go to bed. I really wanted to. Got busy at work and didn't drink as many as I wanted.
The leader told us about a box mix of red beans and rice that was good. I bought a box tonight.
The brand is Tony Chachere's, and the whole box is only 4 pts. She said it was very spicey. I'll let y'all know how it tastes.

Hope everyone is having a fun Friday night. I just went to the grocery store for cat food and toilet paper. We're having a wild Friday night!
Tina

auntie 06-23-2001 10:08 AM

Happy Saturday! It's a beautiful day here! What about there?

My husband is going to be gone for most of the day. He won't be home until about 4 am. So it will be another day with the cats and tv. Tomorrow, we are going out to celebrate my birthday, which is Monday. It will be nice to get out!

Tina, I'm impressed if that was all you bought at the store. I go for 2 things and come out with a basket.

Susan:^:

Tammy 06-23-2001 04:25 PM

Susan, your shopping sounds like mine! I go for one thing, and end up going back to the front of the store to get a cart because I'm dropping things on the floor!

Happy Birthday by the way!!! Hope you get to do something fun and exciting (but not fattening!)

I tried to have homegrown tomotoes. All 3 plants died! I am such a klutz when it comes to plants. Good thing I'm not a farmer!

I just made some black beans and rice the other day, not sure of the brand. It was so salty, I had to throw it out. Bob and Tim wouldn't even try it. They said that it smelled nasty.

Constant sirens going on here. The West Central Ohio Fireman's Convention is this weekend. They did wait until 10:15 this morning before they started the sirens (they went till after midnight last night). They've been going constantly ever since. It is only 4;30. What a day!!

Tina 06-23-2001 11:51 PM

Good evening,

Tammy, I can't believe you have to put up with those sirens. It sounds horrible. How far away are they?
Sorry about the beans and rice being yucky. Been there/done that.

Susan, you'll have to wait until Monday for my singing. ;) I hope you have a good time tomorrow. You mentioned cats. How many and what kinds do you have. We have one, Smokey. He's a big black baby (11 1/2 years old). His father was Persian and his mother was short hair (Alley cat). Smokey and his brothers were born in my sister's garage. I wish I'd taken a picture of him when he was just a little ball of fur. :)

You should see our garage. It looks sooooo good.
We went looking for a dryer. We found a GE that we'll probably buy. It was $324.00, I think. Is that good???

Have a good Sunday!

Tina

auntie 06-24-2001 09:28 AM

Tammy, I can't believe that the sirens are going off all day. I'm sure that gets old, real quick!! About the tomatoe plants, I plant about 10-12 plants. Now, I'm the only one that eats them, but I always plan on several dying. However the last 2 years, none died and I had a bunch!

Tina, are you sitting down? I have 5 cats, yes all inside. It's a long story, to make it short ...one is brain damaged got kicked in the head by a horse when at the stables. He is a 20 lb. tiger stripped. 2 brothers are about 1 year old..... they were suppose to be barn cats but one can't jump very well. It is the funniest thing, he is so clumsy. One is my Russian Blue.... my baby!! The other is the brain damaged cat's brother that we brought in from outside when we lost one of the inside cats and one of the outside. All together - 3 tiger stripped, 1 med. hair tabby, 1 Russian blue.

The funny thing is my husband didn't like cats when we got married. He got me an orange Persian, that we had for about 3 year until he had heart failure. I love Persian's... but now I'm a Russian Blue fan. I'll always have them.

The new said they were spraying for mosquitos in your area, Tina. Hope it helps!!

I'll stop rambling now. Have a great Sunday.

Susan

Tammy 06-24-2001 03:56 PM

We live right on the edge of town so the firetrucks didn't come out past our house. They always turned down the last street in town, which is maybe 1/4 mile away. Still plenty loud! They were driving up and down the streets all day. They had a parade that started at 5;00. ALL of the sirens were screaming at the same time then. I just stayed in the house. Didn't bother going up for the parade. Noisy enough here!

I think I'll bury (no, plant) more tomatoes next year. Then maybe I'll have at least one that will survive. I think I did get them planted a little late, and they were crowded in their little plastic plant things too long. Good excuse?

I made a decision about church. I'm going to start teaching Sunday school to 4-5-6 graders in the fall. I've wanted to become more involved in the church. This will be once a month or less if we can get more people to volunteer their time. Tim said he would help me. Not sure how that would work since he isn't that much older than the kids in the class. He'll be 8th grade.

I have cookies in the over for Bible School that starts tomorrow. I'd better go keep an eye on them.

Toodles!!

ChicagoGal 06-25-2001 10:19 AM

Good morning, and Happy Monday, everyone!

Susan, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope it's a great day for you. Sounds like you're getting a bit more mobile. Be careful not to do too much -- you don't want to slow down your recovery :)

Tammy, that's great about Sunday school. I used to teach Sunday school when I was in high school, actually, and it was terrific. Also did several years of Vacation Bible School through high school and college.

Tina, I'm glad your garage is finally in shape. That sounds like a good price on a dryer to me. Good luck!

I had a good weekend. Finally weighed in on Saturday morning, and was down 1.4 pounds (granted, that was over 3 weeks, but still ...). Went to a fair in the next town over. Golfed yesterday morning, and did pretty well (for me!). Took about 6 strokes off the last time I played there. Then we had a going away party for one of my neighbors. They grilled out and had these really yummy things that looked like fillets but were actually turkey. I have to find out where she got them, because they were nice and moist -- not all dried out like so much turkey stuff you find.

Here's hoping for a good week for all!

Laura~

auntie 06-25-2001 01:10 PM

Thanks for the birthday greetings! :D Another year older, and still don't feel any different than I did when I was 18. However, better enjoy this year since it is the last one in the 30's.

Laura, it sounds like you have been busy. I have only played minature golf. Congrats, on playing better. Let us know about the turkey.

Tammy, that's great about teaching Sunday school. I only did Vacation Bible school when I lived in San Antonio. It sure was fun. Wish I was doing now since my niece and nephew are going.

I'm doing good. Actually get to drive to the doctor today. I'm still on crutches but think it won't be too long before I wean off of them. I'm actually a little scared about it. Then meeting my husband at the car place (getting his repaired). Topping the day off with my all time favorite pizza. It's close to where we lived before we moved out here. About 25-30 miles aways.

Enough of that! Happy a great day!!

Susan:angel:

auntie 06-25-2001 01:13 PM

Laura, I meant to tell you congrats on the loss. Anything is better than a gain. Keep it up!!:)

Susan

Tina 06-25-2001 03:04 PM

Susan
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Susan, Happy Birthday to you!

I intended to send this earlier but work got in the way. :) Hope you're doing okay.

Tina

auntie 06-25-2001 09:00 PM

Thank you Tina!!!!!

Tina 06-26-2001 12:51 AM

All right, Already!
I'm going to be a cheerleader tonight. I am ready to get motivated again for the hundreth time. :)
I go along telling myself I'll exercise and don't do it. I tell myself that tomorrow will be the day I drink only one diet Coke. Am I just fooling myself? NO, I say. Rah Rah Rah
Corny, yes--but maybe I'll get myself going and maybe someone else, too.
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life. I shall be healthier starting tomorrow.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Tina (I really haven't lost my everlovin mind.)

ChicagoGal 06-26-2001 09:13 AM

Go, Tina!! :)

We all need motivation on a regular basis. I'll share with you all something that I ran across yesterday -- a quote attributed to Bruce Lee:

"Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do."

Boy, does that sum up my experience with WW. I know how to do it, and I want to do it, but it truly is a matter of applying that, isn't it? ;)

Have a great day, everyone!

Laura~

Tina 06-26-2001 11:30 AM

Thanks for that saying, Laura.

auntie 06-26-2001 11:54 AM

Now Great, I typed something and lost it. I went to close another window and must have closed it instead!! :(

Tina, "Go Girl!!!!!!" Remember, we are all in this together!!! I have to do the same thing. Give myself little pep talks. I seem to do good for about a week and then I'm off track. We have to remember that we didn't gain it over night and we won't lose it over night. Still doesn't mean that I don't wish!!!:D

Laura, I love that saying. I'm putting it on the frig for a daily reminder!! Thanks, for posting it. It really makes you think!

Have a great day!
Susan

Tina 06-26-2001 02:03 PM

Did y'all know that at the top of the forum, it says happy birthday to those with birthdays that day???? I wish I'd looked on my day.

I just got back from getting a nail taken out of a tire. Went to one place and was told I'd have to wait 2 hrs. before they could see it. Yuk! The next place did it in 10 minutes. The nail was near the edge of the tire so I didn't get a warranty. Oh.......I wish my husband was home to take care of such things. He will probably buy a new one when he returns.
I am a competent, capable, grown woman---however---some things I don't want to handle. :dizzy:

Have a great day!
Tina

auntie 06-26-2001 02:14 PM

It never fails when my husband is out of town something goes wrong. Even though I am completely capable of handling situations, I like it when he is here. Hang in there, Tina!! I hate dealing with tire places.

Tina 06-27-2001 11:57 PM

Name one positive thing that you did today!!!!!

I'll start us off-----
I chose a package of Healthy Choice cookies over that half pint of light Blue Bell vanilla ice cream in the freezer. :)

Tammy, you are quiet--what's happening?
Laura, are you golfing this weekend?
Dee, any plans for the 4th?
Sis, you are doing so good on WW. Keep it up!
Linda, what's new?
Kimmy-jo, how is the baby--I hope no more bouts with fever.
Susan, it sounds like you are ready to get in a foot race. ;)
I wish Jill would check in. We need to bug her about our wedding invitations.

Tina

ChicagoGal 06-28-2001 09:28 AM

Positive thing, huh? I decided I had to return a dress that I ordered online because it was too big :D And I stayed OP on points.

I'm not golfing this weekend, 'cause we're going up to my dad's lake house for his bday. Hopefully the weather will be nice! I still have to figure out what to get him. I'll probably go to the bookstore and pick up something he won't read.

Good luck with weigh-in today, everyone!

Laura~

auntie 06-28-2001 10:16 AM

Let's see one positive thing I did yesterday.....

I picked up a ring that I had fixed and sized. It was my mom's when she was 7 yrs old. It made my day and her's. I'm going to wear it on my right pinky.

By the way, I went over on points too. I think it's almost that time. I watched tv and candy bars kept calling my name. However, I didn't have one.

Susan

Loodie 06-28-2001 01:38 PM

Sorry I haven't been very active--I will be less active until the middle of July. We are leaving Monday for Canada for a couple of weeks. We are taking the motorhome. BOY, am I ever ready for vacation, I feel like I have been going in circles :spin:

Susan -- Happy Birthday

Tina--Good job on the self pep talks

Laura--Doesn't it feel good to return something because it is too big--not too small??

Tammy--I taught SS for years and my favorite age was jr. high kids. They have a genuine curiosity about all kinds of things at that age. Many times, I didn't prepare lessons, I would just walk in and say--how are things going at school or home and invariably something would come up that involved how to know what the right thing to say or do was and that would lead to researching the Bible to find out what it tells us to do and then talk about how we can apply that to life today. Can you tell that I really miss that part of church life??

By the way, I weighed this morning and was down 2.5 pounds. Made up for not losing anything last week.

Have a good 2 weeks all

Tina 06-28-2001 10:13 PM

Thanks to those who gave their positive things!

Linda--you'll be gone for 2 weeks? We will really miss you, girl.

I went to my annual gyn visit at lunchtime today. Isn't it a fun time! NOT. Plus, my doctor is out and someone else was doing it. I think I'm fine--always wait till the Pap Smear results come in.

Hope everyone has an easy Friday.
Tina

auntie 06-29-2001 10:38 AM

This seems to be running slow or maybe it is just me. Is it for ya'll?

Tina, good luck at the doctor's. If I found out my dr. wasn't going to be there, I would change my appointment. Now isn't that funny? At least it will be over with for another year.

Loodie, Have fun in Canada!!!! Be careful! :) Thanks for the birthday wish.

Looks like rain here, but it has for the last 2 days. Only 1 shower in the middle of the night. Maybe we'll get lucky.

I start Physical therapy Monday. Can't wait to get that started.

Happy Friday!!
Susan

Tina 06-29-2001 03:01 PM

Happy Friday, too--
Susan, hope the therapy doesn't hurt too much.
Last night, after 9:00 p.m., an officer was knocking on my door. I thought about not opening it but did a crack. I was given a subpeona. That crazy woman who ran into the back of my car is contesting her ticket. I have to be a witness for the State. It made me so nervous last night that I scrubbed one bathroom floor and the kitchen floor. :)

Have a great day and OP weekend.

Tina

Tammy 06-30-2001 06:28 PM

Why does the crazy woman think that she can contest the ticket? Glad you got your floors cleaned though! Maybe someone should subpoena me so I can get something accomplished here. NOT!!!

Not much happening here. It is hot, so we've been indoors most of the day. It's about 6:30 and we haven't even thought about supper. Guess we could have cereal. Sounds easy.

Tina 06-30-2001 06:33 PM

I've never had cereal for supper-might try that sometime. Do you ever fix pancakes? I've done that a few times. Our son, David, thinks we are absolutely crazy to do such a thing. :)

I guess that driver thinks somehow she can get off. I don't have a clue why she'd think that since she hit me from behind. Tickets are always given for that.

Tammy, I hope your cramps are gone today.

I'm looking in a WW cookbook for something wonderful for dessert.

Tina

auntie 07-01-2001 04:21 PM

Hi All,

I'm exhausted today!! I went to watch my husband and his band play last night. Didn't get in until 4:00am. I remember the days when I could have 2-3 hours sleep and it didn't bother me. Funny thing, I met him when he was playing in a band. It still makes my heart skip a beat to watch him today! On the way home we laughed when I asked him if he remember what we would eat, after he played when we were dating. At 3 am we would cruise through Jack in the Box for ham & cheese sandwiches and milkshakes. The good ole days!!

Tina, I'm sorry about the subpoena. She must be an idot to think she can get out of it. Growing up we ate pancakes for dinner a lot. I think I like breakfast food better at supper time!

Tammy, Cereal is one of my favorite things. I love to eat cereal for dinner. I do a lot when hubby is out of town.

Can't believe that it is already July. Where does time go?

Susan

Tammy 07-01-2001 04:44 PM

We ended up having hot dogs and chips for supper. Nice and simple!

Today we planned to grill out, but it started storming. The lightning has stopped, but it is still raining. We are now doing BBQ chicken in the oven. I'm sure it will still be yummy.

Every now and then we'll have breakfast for our evening meal, except we have more than pancakes. Usually I'll scramble some eggs and nuke a few slices of bacon. Now I'm really getting hungry!

The good ol' days of only a few hours of sleep a night! I can remember getting home at 3 or 4 and having to be up by 6:30. And I wasn't grumpy! Now if I have less than 7 hours of sleep I am grumpy. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. Age?????

auntie 07-01-2001 09:22 PM

It's been hard staying OP today. I'm sure I'm over my points for the day.

Tammy, these days' I have to have 7-8 hours sleep too. If not, I'm no good. Age..... bite your tongue!! Good thing, we did nothing all day.

Susan

auntie 07-01-2001 09:25 PM

Quote of the day
“Don’t exchange what you want most for what you want at the moment.”

Susan

Tina 07-02-2001 06:40 PM

I like that quote, Susan.
Susan, tell us more about your husband and band. What does he play? Is this his full time job?

Tammy, I haven't fixed oven barbecued chicken in ages....have to do that next. I am sooooo tired of chicken but will have to do the oven thing. :)

Would you believe that it is raining again!!!! It's mainly thundering here. My sister lives on the west side of town and they have had heavy rains today. (They escaped from the bad flooding.)
Well, I went to get an estimate of damage on my little Neon. Poor thing. ;)
Tomorrow night I get to go to court. It's such a drag to break up my two-day holiday that way.

What is everyone planning for the 4th? Larry & our son have planned the day so I can rest. Sweet, huh. They will grill hot dogs and fix homemade ice cream. Then, we'll either go play miniature golf or go to a movie. When's the last time you played miniature golf???? I can't remember.

Everyone post. We haven't heard from some in the group for ages!!!!

Tina

ChicagoGal 07-03-2001 10:41 AM

Hi there!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Was at my dad's this weekend, and it was really quite nice. Weather was GORGEOUS on Saturday, so we had lots of fun with the boats and jet ski, etc. Sunday was much cooler and very windy, but still had a good time hanging around. Dad enjoyed his birthday, and his wife was actually quite pleasant the entire 24 hours -- and that is a first!! Sticking to WW was a challenge, since all that was available for meals were hot dogs/chips, ribs/potato salad, sloppy joes/chips. I did ok, though -- came back a little up, but correctable :)

It's raining here now, but hopefully will clear up by this afternoon. A lot of areas have their fireworks tonight. My town does them tomorrow night, and they have a live band that is playing downtown before the show, so I'll probably go down for that. In the morning there's a big 4th of July parade in the next town over that I'll probably get to. Other than that, I'm going to be obsessively playing my new computer game that I got yesterday :o And maybe mow the lawn.

Tina, I LOVE miniature golf! Haven't been in years, but they have a little course right next to the driving range I go to, and I keep trying to convince friends to go play with me. No luck yet, but I'll keep trying!

Talk to you later!

Laura~

Tina 07-03-2001 10:53 AM

HI,
There are always so many people at our fireworks displays that we have stopped going. The traffic is a big problem. Sometimes we can see some of them from our front porch.

Laura, what kind of game do you have? I'm glad your father's wife was nice. Until recently when she got ill, my father-in-law's lady friend was such a pain!!! Now she is in a nursing home because she had knee replacement surgery that didn't go well. (I haven't had to see her in a year.) Fortunately, my father-in-law never married her.:dizzy:

I guess Linda is on her trip now.

I've been seeing on the weather that everyone up North has cooler weather. Ours is humid and now we're having more RAIN.

Think of me tonight, it's court night. :)

Tina

auntie 07-03-2001 01:15 PM

Hello,

Hope everyone is doing well! I've gone to physical therapy the last 2 days. I can tell each day, my knee gets a little stronger. Actually, I'm tired of not being able to do all that I normally do. My husband won't let me do too much.

Tina, my husband plays in 2 bands. All the same members but different singers. It's not his job and does it for fun. He is a C.O.O. of a company. One is a cover band, 3 of the members are 19 & 20. He plays the bass guitar and sings. It's a blast to go watch. Just found out last night, they will be playing a lot in the near future.

No plans for the 4th. Pat's going to mow. The fireworks display is just down the road so we'll sit in the back to watch them.

I have to tell you that I picked up Chinese food for lunch today. I'm so excited because I was good. I got brocolli & shrimp with white rice, of course an egg roll. No fried rice which I love nor wontons. Believe me this is a major accomplishment.

I got the quote off of WW E-tools. They post one up everyday. I'm going to start copying them and posting it if they are good.

Please becareful on the 4th!!!!

Susan

Tina, sorry you have to go to court tonight. We'll be thinking about you!!

ChicagoGal 07-03-2001 03:49 PM

Tina, I'll confess I'm a computer game junkie :) I love strategy-type games. I just got Poseidon yesterday, which is the expansion pack for Zeus. Played for about 4 hours last night! If only that counted as exercise :^:

Susan, that's one of my favorite quotes, too -- I have it posted on my bulletin board here.

Have you guys ever checked out Cyberdiet.com? I just ran across it last week, and they have this "daily reminder" thing you can sign up for where they e-mail you every day with some piece of motivation or reminder on why we're doing this, how we can do better, etc. Some days I don't really agree with them, but most days I like it. It's also a nice reminder that this is something I really want to do.

I might have to leave work early. Someone put out a HUGE bowl of M&M pieces (there have got to be 10 pounds in there). I love M&Ms. A lot. And I have to walk by them regularly. Grrrrrrr.

Good luck in court, Tina! Hopefully this will all be behind you soon :)

Laura~

Tina 07-03-2001 04:46 PM

Greetings from a happy person. :)

I don't have to go to court tonight. Yea!!!!!
The court clerk just called saying the woman came in deciding to take a defensive driving course instead. I called Larry and he said that we'd go out to supper to celebrate.

Susan, wow, your husband is a COO--not bad. ;)
Please do post those quotes.
Also, congratulations for having a healthy Chinese meal. I'm afraid I'd have gotten the fried rice.

Laura, 4 hrs of game playing--that's exercising your fingers & should count for something. he..he

Now I can put my dark, navy blue suit back. I was going to really dress up tonight.

Tina
