Hey, Little Turtles!

Happy Saturday. I missed my day off yesterday, had to work, so I'm a little behind on the relaxing. As a result my mind-clock said "get up and relax NOW" at 230a. No kidding. I just love sitting with my coffee and notebook and books first thing...

I had some of my FlexPoints Thursday night with a Fuddrucker's hamburger. What an indulgence. I only eat beef about 1-2x a month, and usually only in burger form. I have no idea how many points that is, but I call it 16. Now I'm wondering if that's low.

Does anyone have a recipe they like for low points oatmeal cookies? I used to make some...another Judy in the old WW at Home Support Group gave me the recipe...now I can't put my hands on the specs. I think I'll run over to the food threads and see what is available there.

All right. Today's plan includes a walk in the beautiful Texas autumn and galloooooons (say that like you'd say "dubloons") of water. Yesterday I inadvertantly got in 96 oz and it didn't hurt a bit. I was so full that when I went to measure out a half cup of Cherry Garcia (4 points) I decided only to take half of that. Two points! I am not an ice cream addict, so this isn't a BIG accomplishment, but it was a first for me.

You all look beautiful, did I mention that?

choose well!

Thumbs down

Hi Turtles,

Choosewell,
I hear you on the galloons of water! You mention agua often and I think I'll drink a little more. Enjoy the day and your writing

Lauren and Lin,
Have a great weekend. :good vibes:

Catching up with me:
Yesterday was unplanned. It was my niece's birthday (another niece) and I called to find out her new address. Lo and behold we were invited to come to dinner to celebrate her birthday. In my family and my husband's extended family, that means high cal high fat--think of anything fattening and its there! So my idea of planning and preparing daily was shaken up a bit. She told me what they were having for dinner and dessert and I sketched out the points in my head before we got there. I had to go into Flexpoints, but I skimped on dessert and had just a little bit. I'm sure the 16oz. of water I drank before I headed out there helped to keep me full. The salt was high so I'll drink more water today.
I'll also get on the treadmill to help out. I'd love to lose another pound this week.

Love,
Judy

Hi, Turtles,

YAY!! 3 pounds, Judy.

That's wonderful. I love the way you're working harder at preplanning. You handled your unexpected birthday party so well. Don't feel bad about using flex points. That's what they're for.

Choosewell, I love you sense of humor. The Turtle Intellectual Dictionary of Nonsense and Made Up Words. That's great.

Congratulations on the publication of your articles. You should post on the Good News board at FM.

You seem to have your plan under control. I'm so glad you joined our little group. You've been such an inspiration. Here's one of your favorite dancing bananas.

Lauren, I hope things are going OK with you this weekend. Look forward to getting caught up when you get a chance to post.

I'm having one of those difficult months. I used all but one flex point yesterday due to a PMS carb attack. That was OK, but then I burned the rice by forgetting to turn the heat down so the stock boiled away. I only do stuff like that during the last PMS day or the first few TOM days. I try to get my family to cook and take care of anything potentially dangerous during that time. We ended up at McD's. And I ended up with 10 points for today. But, I'm eating my normal breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. If I try to compensate by eating lightly, especially during TOM, I end up eating more than if I just go with what I normally eat.

On the other hand, maybe I needed the food. I was up 2 pounds of water weight and I've lost one. So it looks like I didn't do too much damage. My exercise right now is getting in whatever walks I can. I'll be back doing my tapes tomorrow or Monday, depending on how things go.

I'm probably not going to make 15K for the marathon. I have the 10K pip and was hoping to upgrade it. But the part I'm working on doesn't take a high word count. It just takes sitting in the chair and working through it. I'm accomplishing my goal, so no matter how many words I end up with, this is a successful marathon. I think by the end, I'll be ready for NaNo.

Have a great turtlin' weekend!

Keep moving!

Good morning!

Did you know that the terrapin or turtle is the most auspicious figure in feng shui? It sure is! Look at any Lillian Too book at the bookstore/library, and you will find us mentioned.

Lin, thanks for the kind words, and the double welcome here. That's a great idea about FM posting, as soon as the articles are in print I'll do that.

I was in the nano chat the other night briefly (saw you) and lost my connection. I have to just admit to myself that I can only wireless in one room right now, or anything can happen.

OK. Judy, I also had a surprise eating event this weekend, and I wish I'd handled it as well as you. Hub and I went to our usual restaurant, and I blew it. We have been there many times, and I have my points figured out for the perfect meal there, a steak or chicken fajita salad. I even usually skip margaritas there. HOWEVER. I had two, and ate some deadly shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. I'm serious. It was like an Atkins Attack or something.

The bad news? I didn't even like what I ate, I just ate it. I am completely humbled by my own self-sabotage. It was the Old Me, rearing back and digging in. Maybe it was a reminder of how I used to be.

BUT the magic of the program is I can undo some of the damage with activity points a little today, and I will. Hub will be in his new recliner from 12-3 watching the Cowboys so I am going to use that time for a walk and then pick some cleaning activity.

Judy, I keep forgetting to ask, did you wash any windows last weekend? I did not. I started yesterday, with the worst offenders, and thought of you. It's so pretty out, that might be something good for this afternoon.

Lauren, when you catch up from vacation, tell us how beautiful it was. The leaves were turning, I bet. Vicarious thrills for me, banished to the south where autumn colors last one day, then the leaves all fall at once.

Hugs and chugs and glugs! Oops-Swell (Choosewell).
