Hi Turtles,
Hoping to see Nancy over here. I am determined to reach goal this year. Can it be done? Of course. I've learned so much over the years and need to kick it all into place now.

Wishing you all a :goodscale: at your next WI. Keep on keepin' on and chime in when you can!

Judy

nancylmrn 01-19-2020 01:52 PM

Thank you for starting the thread!
Well I needed this today. Yesterdays WI up .6!!! My own fault I knew I had not really gone over my points but......the adult beverages (my nemesis ) was my downfall. So this morning all wine is now gone as well as the homemade fudge that I had in the garage since Christmas. gone gone gone.

I have my meals (main meal in the evening) planned out this week. Lunches will be veggie stir fry with brown rice, breakfasts will be choices of hard boiled eggs, steel cut oats or homemade FF greek yogurt with blackberryies. Snacks I have prepped fresh pineapple, cucumber slices that I will dip in Bolthouse dressing and possibly some popcorn.

I am using the purple plan and I don't mind prepping my meals, Thankfully my DH is open to just about all foods and will eat what I prepare. Now on nights that I have whole wheat pasta he will use regular, but he does not mind the brown rice.

back later!

ceejay52 01-20-2020 10:46 AM

Started on WW this morning but will weigh in on Thursday

Itryharder 01-20-2020 10:48 AM

Hi Turtles,
Nancy, you're the best for chiming in. Thank you! I'll see if I can get Gail back here. I too am on the Purple plan and find I can make it work.
I like the Barilla whole wheat pasta and now I'm looking for recipes to make a casserole with brown rice. It's weird...…….I like almost all foods so that makes adapting my plan easier. However, I like almost all foods. Now I have to work on eating foods I like so I won't "go on the hunt" to find more appealing foods once I've eaten.

Have a great day, week, etc. I am determined to reach goal this year. I have about 50# to go, so it won't be an easy challenge, but it is doable.

nancylmrn 01-20-2020 01:31 PM

Well good morning/afternoon 'turtles' vs 'chickes' LOL not sure what picture in my mind I want to associatate with....think I would rather be the pictres of 'dimple free, wrinkle free, slendar waist grandma'

I weight everyday for accountablitly and this am I was up 1.4lbs!!!! I know what I can point my finger too. Darn sodium, and a bag of microwave popcorn and glass of vino last night. but stayed within my budget.
This am was at the gym for my cardio. I am holding off starting back up with weights until my knee decides it likes me again

So last night I used my 1pt choclate protein powder (not ww...bit to $$ for me-costco is my go to for this) to make GF-Chocolate-Peanut Butter No-Bake Protein Bites. Except I did not have a really ripe banana but I had some overripe bannana sliced and frozen in my freezer that I used to make 'nice cream'. Anyway long story short because the bananas were on the watery side now I had to add more rolled oats giving me 38 bites vs 20....so does this mean I can eat 2 for the cost of 1??? Just askin

nancylmrn 01-20-2020 03:16 PM

Welcome ceejay can't wait to learn more about you and your journey :wel3fc:

nancylmrn 01-21-2020 08:24 PM

So today I have been on point - so far---LOL, I have kept to the planned foods my worry now is the bottle of open wine in my kitchen
Did my usual workout this am, hiho hiho off to gymland I go at 5am hahaha got to love the elliptical trainer and free weights

So with all this soggy weather I am having I need to find more indoor type activities that don't involve lots of other people....suggestions?

nancylmrn 01-22-2020 10:52 AM

ok the wine is gone.......darn those open bottles, I was good until DH asked if he could have a glass and of couse I said yes as long as you bring me one too......:joker:

Itryharder 01-22-2020 12:53 PM

Sounds like a friendly use of points!!!!!
Hi Turtles,
I had a great WI this morning. The fast stupid weight I put on is gone. I only have .2# to lose to be the lowest weight I've been in ages and then it's my goal to blast into the 180's# I know I can do it. Eating more at each meal in its own weird way has led to less snacking which I am sure was holding back my weight loss.
Nancy, you're doing great!
CeeJay, how are you?
Gail, look at the nice gals who have joined us!!!

Have a great week.
Judy

Itryharder 01-22-2020 12:55 PM

Indoor activity"? How about walking around the house fast and up and down stairs? How about watching a You Tube video on your tv and working out with someone new for a change? Yoga? What do you like to do?

:goodscale:
Judy

nancylmrn 01-22-2020 08:59 PM

Thank you Itry for the suggestions, working out at my home is something I can do easily and have done in the past. Now I go to the gym during the week. It is more finding something DH and I can do together that has me stumped. Congrats on losing your very temporary gain and you can see 180's awesome! :bravo:

Itryharder 01-22-2020 10:11 PM

Um. How about dancing???? Would that work for you and your husband? Am I too corny??
I'm sure you'll find something great.

Itryharder 01-23-2020 08:54 AM

Nancy...…………..I love that you meal prep in advance. I do too during the weeks when I'm most successful.

Have you ever watched Amanda Cypert on YouTube. She's got a few ideas for meal prep that have worked out nicely for me. I need to start watching her again. :chef:

Have a great day. I'm optimistic that today will be another good day.
Judy

nancylmrn 01-23-2020 11:14 AM

Itry hmmm no I have never heard of Amanda Cypert but you can bet I am going to find her today on youtube.

Dancing now there is an idea I wonder if I can get DH to do the macarana?? hahahahahahaha

Last night in the danger zone.....between 6pm-9pm...yep I broke down and had an adult beverage but even with that I only had 14 points out of 16 and still had a gain this am....grrrrsy

Itryharder 01-23-2020 02:01 PM

Hi Turtles,
Nancy, that crummy weight will change. You've got this on the run. It is annoying to me that I won't see an immediate body response to a great eating day. Of course I think I should lose 40# when I've had a good day. What I have to remember is that if I keep having good days, I can lose 40# this year. I am geared for this!

Have a great day.
Had salmon on top of a Greek salad from my favorite Greek restaurant yesterday. Really filling and I had a cup of lemon soup for dinner and the leftover salad. Sounds weird, but I wasn't that hungry after the big lunch so the smaller dinner worked out fine.

Take care!
Judy
I definitely am hoping for a weight drop on the scale tomorrow morning.
Oatmeal with an egg this morning and soup for lunch...……..not sure what dinner will be because our granddaughter wants to come for dinner.

nancylmrn 01-23-2020 06:18 PM

Tonight for dinner will be mongolian beef with brocolli and brown rice!....I am actually looking forward to it. I always have twice the veggies vs meat.....fingers crossed Itry and myself in the am....offical weigh in on Saturday morning....

Itry...I miss having my grandkids for sleepovers....

Itryharder 01-24-2020 09:57 AM

Hi Turtles,
Nancy, I think I just had a reaction to what I was eating like you did a couple of days ago. Food perfect, points well within range, BUT I got the Greek salad with salmon at a restaurant (even though I had feta on the side ) and steamed chicken and broccoli should have been fine...……..and I'm up 2#. 2# is a lot when eating right...………...I'm hoping some of it is just salt and that could be.

And we're meeting our niece at Panera Bread for lunch. Checking out the lowest point lunch I can find and will do the best I can.

The good news is NY is nice and sunny today and so far our winter has been fine. Also, being older the time flies and before I know it it will be spring.

All the best and :goodvibes: to anyone who reads and chimes in here!

Judy

nancylmrn 01-24-2020 01:39 PM

OK grr and grr and one more for, well, just cause grrr
WI still up 1.0 from last week so tomorrow's weigh in will show the increase...this will be two weeks in a row. I am taking a look at my food log and I think I am going to have to limit my brown rice and pasta. These 2 carbs most likely should not be in my mix but maybe once a week. I can do that. Can't say the same for the glass or two of wine here and there.
I did do a med-fast cardio for 50min this am at the gym.....got caught up in watching the Austrailan Open LOL I don't know why I have this facination with tennis. Guess it was getting hooked watching the old days with Jimmy Conner and Andre Aggisi

Itry I am sure your gain is sodium. It will be gone in a few days.....I have to avoid Panera like the plague....I think the only thing low in calories and not loaded with sodium for me is the apple you can get LOL..

Ok back later

Itryharder 01-25-2020 08:32 AM

Hi Turtles,
Nancy, so funny about the apple being the only safe food at Panera's. I agree. I had the half tuna sandwich (which is hysterical since in my Panera's they serve it on 2 slices of bread...…….I only ate the one slice) and that was 7 points. Then while my two companions finished their soup I ate the safe apple and all I can say for it was it was crunchy. Anyway, our niece likes to meet us there so we do. However, the salt in the soup is much too much so I can't eat that. I guess I could have a salad but I'm really not crazy about salads.

I think the Purple plan can be very tricky and I am sorry you'll be up on the scale. There has to be a way to figure in your wine. I think limiting your brown rice and pasta makes complete sense. I am setting up a little guideline for myself and I'll see how it goes. I'm figuring one of the new carbs for twice a week and the other nights boosting my vegetables to two with dinner. Again, I'm not a big salad person (which is probably how I got to be a big person) so a protein and two veggies should be enough to keep me full for dinner. Last night I was hungry at 9:30pm and made the smallest amt. of popcorn in the microwave and air popped it. It was satisfying enough and the tiny amt. didn't seem to do any harm. I still am not back to this week's WI weight, so I'm kinda in the same boat you are. Wishing you all the best. Thanks for posting here so regularly!~

Judy

nancylmrn 01-25-2020 12:24 PM

Ok the offiicial WI is over and yep I am up 1.4lbs for the week and last week was up .6. I talked with the leader about the rice and pasta, she was not 100% on board with my logic but did not try to talk me around it either. I will give this 2 weeks and see what happens.

So dug through my freezer and found rice cauliflower and will use that for my lunch stir fry for the week. I am also going to play with some other flavors to put over the rice and veggies

Now I have got to thinking that the exercise I do really does not impact any weight loss..Last week I had 110 fit points left and not sure how many rollovers ...this week focus on nutritional food....

hahaha see what a meeting does to me makes me get on a soap box and sound like a loon....ignore the rants

Today I am going to meet my DS at the mall for some retail therapy best medicine for a weight gain....she has been on ww for almost a year now and her journey is slow slow as is mine.
OH an no Panera for either of us but we may have to find a bit of sushi somewhere

back later today

Itryharder 01-25-2020 10:27 PM

Your workouts are amazing!!!! Keep them up of course because they do you good even if you don't lose weight because of them.
Good hearing from you and follow your instincts about food...…………...you know yourself well and WW is for a general population and you're a specific and want to figure out which foods work for you. Good luck!!!! :bravo:

Hi turtles

Judy - sorry I have been away, been very busy up here and lately just trying to keep warm.

Hi to all our new members!!

I am doing blue plan on WW and been struggling since Christmas, but have been pretty good this week.. My WW day is Saturday a.m.

Will go back and read some posts and try to get to know abit about each of you when I get a chance.

Gail

Itryharder 01-28-2020 10:10 AM

Hi Turtles,
WElcome back GAil!!!! Love to see Bandit2 posting here.
Weight loss is so tricky. I did well immediately with the Purple Plan. I wonder if it was just because it was a change from what I had been doing. In any case, I'll be up in weight tomorrow at my WI, so that's not a great way to reach my goal this year. Today will be a great day. I pointed out a candy bar I HAD to have last night and put it in today's count so I have overused 10 extra points. I'll have zero point foods today and make it work. I am also very satisfied, slept well, and am not starving. I don't want to credit all of that to a candy bar, but who knows????

Gail, keep warm and keep on keepin' on!
Nancy, say something about yourself so we get to know you.
For me, I'm a retired elementary teacher from NY. I have a husband and 3 adult kids. I have been "watching my weight" every year since I was in college. I give this journey a lot of effort, and then I go off track. Working very hard to do better this year. Of course that dopey candy bar may make me sound insincere, but I needed it at the time and I'm moving on. I enjoy WW's primarily because I've got a group of supportive friends. My coach is a terrific woman only a bit younger than myself. I consider her my friend as well.

Okay, :goodvibes: and :goodscale: to all who chime in here. CeeJay, would love to hear from you again too!

Judy

nancylmrn 01-28-2020 02:24 PM

Good morning/afternoon/eve? Not sure where everyone is on the time zone wheel LOL
WI up 1.6 lb this morning with not explanation at all, however I did make the ww granola recipe last night and at almost both servings....and going to make more tonight darn it!
WO was good upper body free weights today along with my 30-35 min cardio on the elliptical (I enjoy lifting free weights vs the machines at the gym...my 'wing span' is not as wide as men so using the machines are too much of a challange.

Hi bandit2 (gail) nice to meet you! Guess you and Itry (judy) have been on this forum together for a bit  and yep my first name is nancy

hmm about me eh?
I am not retired-LOL- yet. I am the mother of 3 adult daughters, (2 married, 1 (sadly) separated) with 5 grandchilden. I was a foster parent for 10 years. I have been struggling with my weight since my late 30's early 40's when I began taking medication for high blood pressure and have never been able to get myself back to where I once was. Of couse menopause, hysterectomy, medication and just slower modtabolism does not help!
I am married (twice) my current DH and I have been married 23 years....and not to say anything bad but think we are set in our ways sometimes
I have tried them all (diets) it seems, but I am currently doing ww purple which I like.... and can't believe I am paying to be weighed but if it keeps me on track so be it. I do have to watch my starchy foods and sodium. I have about 30lbs to go to be at goal and plugging at this since before Christmas and making little to know headway....my WI are Saturday morning too

back later for more

Itryharder 01-29-2020 02:03 PM

Hi Turtles,
I had my usual Wed. WI and was up 1#. I will count that as the program, working. I had that crazy candy bar late on Monday night, then had mostly zero point foods on Tuesday. I may just be able to make this Purple Program work just fine.

Did lots of errands today. Nothing exciting, but our NY weather has been terrific so far this winter and we're almost thru January.
Take care. Do well. Keep in mind why we're doing this. If I lost 40# this year, I wouldn't be at WW goal, but I'd be happy with that weight and feel a lot more acceptable to myself.

:bravo: and :goodscale: Keep up the good work!
Judy

nancylmrn 01-29-2020 03:07 PM

Hello Turtle(s)
WI the same as yesterday boo hoo, but boy am I enjoying the ww rolled oats granola! I am watching my portions
WO was ok, had to drop the weights while doing squats, my knee was screaming at me to stop it and leave well enough alone

Today is just a normal work day and I pop in here between phone calls and duty stuff LOL
Typcial winter day here mild weather if you don't count the rain!

Itryharder 01-30-2020 07:34 AM

Hi Turtles,
I'm in NY and Eastern Standard Time.
Looking forward to a great day today. Meeting friend in morning, then book club at noon. Our book club meets at a local pub and the food is so so good. Luckily their salads are great and today I think I'll have a tiny side salad for lunch with a shrimp cocktail. Right now that sounds delicious.
Sending :goodvibes: to everyone to :exercise: and :chef: and :goodscale:
Take care!
Judy

nancylmrn 01-30-2020 09:21 PM

Oh my gosh today was boring! Oh well
WI down .6 but I want much more before Sat...I wonder if I say pretty please my body would be so kind as to oblige?
WO did all cardio today so nothing special

Work blah blah blah....owner is on vacation, owners daughter...well she comes and goes..example, yesterday she comes in at 10:30 (mind you I come in at 7:30) because she had to help her son finish a school project he did not do.....then left at 3pm. Today in at 9:30 and left at noon because she was still groggy from a sleeping pill and needed a nap This gal is young enough to be one of my daughters. But she is the owners daughter and is to suppose to one day run the place...I plan to be retired by then

ok enough of my drivel see you later

Itryharder 01-31-2020 09:39 AM

Hi Turtles,
Owners daughter and planning to retire before that is an example of very good timing. lol.
I learned something yesterday. I had a turkey burger out...……..no bun. the place had a baked potato substitute for fries, so I did that. Guess how many points the burger was? Seven! What was I thinking? I had gotten hungry so the plan of having shrimp cocktail didn't seem filling enough and I changed my mind. Now I know...……………..
Meeting my WW friends for lunch at a Greek restaurant. I will check menu and points before I go.
Super Bowl this Sunday. We've got a busy Sunday and a nice way to spend a Winter weekend.

Sending :goodvibes: to all.
Enjoy the day and good luck to Gail and Nancy on your Sat. WI. I hope the weight pours off!
Judy

nancylmrn 01-31-2020 02:23 PM

OK my drivel con't
Good news my new found friends of the gym did not show up today....whoop whoop
WI up .6 today so Saturday WI is not looking promising
WO kept it simple today with cardo 30 min then 15 free weight upper body

So was super (not) surprised to see the rude chickes at the gym did not make it in, oh shucks and dagnabit.....so disappointed?:nose:

So looking at my ww log, and need your chickies expertise, I have logged my food for today since tomorrow I start over, and I hae 38 weekly's remaining and 65 fitpoints...and still seeing gain or flat this week. Suggestions. I have removed brown rice, whole wheat pasta and alcohol completely this week. Last two weeks have been gains. .6 then up 1.4lb

Weekend activities will be...oh who knows at this point, and since DH and I do not own a TV watching the superbowl is not going to happen unless we go out and I am not that interested.

Itryharder 02-01-2020 09:17 AM

Hi turtle-chicklets,

Gosh Nancy, you've got me puzzled as to the weight gain. I see you removed the obvious possible culprits...………...do you eat a lot of squash or peas or corn? How are your portions? I'm just thinking of things people have said to me when I've run into this. The interesting thing about Purple is 3oz. of chicken breast is a serving and zero points. However, since I'm still so heavy I let myself have about 6oz. of chicken and that's still zero points.
I hope some other people can offer suggestions because with all that exercise you're doing I should think you'd lose weight. At least the new lovely members at the gym have disappeared. Now let's let some pounds disappear as well.

Looking forward to a nice weekend and a good eating one. Met friends for lunch at a Greek restaurant yesterday and I had stuffed tilapia and mussels with sauce. Great choice and tasty, but I'm up a pound. I'm thinking I'm still okay but the sauce was probably loaded with salt, so I'm not annoyed at the scale yet. Let's see how the weekend goes. I am determined to lost 20# this year...……….which doesn't get me to WW standard, ut I would look and feel so much better.

Good luck to all. Gail, I hope things slow down up there in Canada so you can have some peace and quiet.

Judy

nancylmrn 02-01-2020 10:20 PM

Good evening to all

Well the WI went find I did show a loss but darn if I know why since my home scale says the numbers barely budged. But I could not celebrate the loss all I kept thinking was sheesh are they going to make me give back my charm until I lose all I gained back???? I don't think they would ...would they? LOL

I am working on my 'in house conversation' to be more positive

It is getting late so I am going to shut down
Itry thank you so much for your comments and thoughts on this crazy body we sometimes have....and you are right about your gain it is 100% sodium and will be gone in 2 days...I am the queen of sodium retention LOL

Itryharder 02-02-2020 10:37 AM

Hi Turtles-Chickies,

Nancy, so glad you showed a loss. Hide your charm in a very secret place because heaven only knows what WW will do next with their constant changes. LOL. I really feel you and your charm and weight loss are safe from repossession. Celebrate the loss. :goodscale: Maybe one of the items you eliminated had been causing a problem.

Going to have a great day today. Getting out to see a local show, then home for Super Bowl. Have a great day !!!

Judy

nancylmrn 02-02-2020 04:50 PM

Good day Chickies
Late to the party for me today
WI up .4....oh well sodium?? maybe or just pissed off from yesterday not sure which
No WO today just normal stuff

So I am feeling pretty good even with the gain this am, I know it is a normal fluctuation and I can deal with that I suppose (like I have a choice right?)
I have prepped all my meals for Breakfast and lunch. B all week will be homemade FF greek yogurt with frozen berries, L: veggies stir fry with 1.5C brown rice spread over 5 days. Dinners planned and prepped as much as I can right now. Snacks I have cut up fresh pineapple, cucumber and ww rolled oat granola (so easy to make)

Itry, my charm is now hidden under my mouse pad  Cant find it there hehehe

I am trying to kinder to myself when that inner voice jumps on my shoulder and shakes it's head. I actually thought I gave it a good swift kick in a place that may or may not have seriously hurt it. I will see how the week plays out whether I need to do it again

ok off to superbowl land....not really I don't have a TV and am not going to pay to stream the game...oh well

Itryharder 02-03-2020 09:45 PM

Hi Turtles,
Always be kind to yourself. It's such a fine line between being so kind that we never eat properly and not kind enough that we are angry with ourselves. I mean to lose weight and reach goal this year. I am off to a shaky start. Lots of silly little changes here in my household, so I need to figure out how to eat healthily during the adaptation period.

Nancy, what is the ww rolled oat granola. I love granola, so would love to hear how you make it. Your prepped lunches and breakfasts sound good and healthy also.

Looking forward to some time at the beach in a few weeks. We'll go out with one or two of our grown daughters and two grandkids. It will be fun. Nothing like the ocean in the winter. Gorgeous and good walking too.

Take care and keep writing. So good to hear from you!
Judy

Itryharder 02-04-2020 10:33 AM

today will be a great on program day.

Judy

nancylmrn 02-04-2020 11:02 AM

Good morning turtles, all of us hehehehehehehe

Itry it is on the ww site if you look for Rolled Oat Granola....makes 2 cups and 1 serv is 1 Cup is 2pts....PB2, SF Maple syrup, vanilla, uncooked oats, protein powder, cinnamon and salt...poof it is so good I just keep making double batches and just munch away. I back mine for about 40 min total but I like my granola really crunchy.

Todays positive: Planned meals again, and stuck to planned meals/snacks yesterday, I actually went over my points last night just because the 'meatloaf bites' were high in purple points. So I saw a gain on the my personal scale but I know it was the heavier food last night and I only went over by 5 so I used a few weeklys or fit points not sure which way my app is geared.

Oh my gosh the beach in the winter is so nice! cold and windy but nice!

We are getting a little snow right now that will trun to rain so boo hoo ....I am so ready for spring..
