  • Hi turtles

Judy- nice job on losing a lb - going in the right direction again!

My trip away & Halloween at the park were really great. The little ones are so darn cute and get so excited.
It was abit cold on the water for the cruise but we still had a good time.

My crew are now away to the cottage for this week, so just me & the cat for the most part. I will probably head up to my trailer this Friday and it is an extra long weekend for me
having Fri (which I always do) and holiday Monday off. Kids all back to school Tuesday, which doesn't affect us for now. My little Patrick will be going to JK next Sept.

I have been pretty good trying to lower my carbs but really miss the bread/chips/cracker type things. Oh well, just have to suck it up and get the scale going down.

I made salmon patties & cooked a roast last night, so all set having protein on hand. Made a big salad for lunch along with a salmon patty, and that really filled me up.
Out to dinner tonight with the ladies and on Thurs have an after work dinner to go to. Busy times & of course, food is always the main event it seems.

All - hope you have a good weigh in this week.

    Gail
  • Yes, somehow food plays a huge part in our lives...........................Anyway Gail you sound like you are doing well.
I lost weight again this WI. : Only point six...................but I'll take it because we had to eat out 4 times this week and usually I would gain weight during a week like that, so I feel I am making progress.
I am counting the smart points and keeping them under 30 which is what I am allowed.
Sending : and to all who look here.
have a great week. Honestly Gail that roast beef sounds yummy. What cut did you use? I found an easy recipe for honey mustard chicken if you'd be interested in the recipe, let me know.
    Judy
On my way to goal.............................dare I say this year???? lol
  • Morning turtles

Judy - The roast was a sirloin tip roast and turned out nice, I roasted it at 250 til it was medium on my thermoter and it was cooked just right after resting for abit.
Glad you were down at your weigh in.

I missed my Tops this week but starting next week it is back to full meetings so looking forward to that with this new chapter. I have met a few of the ladies at the "weigh ins only"
but not the same as seeing them at meetings.

I have been watching the news about Texas & it is so heartbreaking to see all the devastation and loss. Truly unbelievable that this can happen. Prayers are with them.

All - take care & stay safe.
  • Yes, the devastation in TX is awful. Thanks for the prayers.
    Hi Turtles,
Things going well here. We wrapped up the summer with a BBQ here. We all had a good time. Both of my daughters live on Long Island so we get to see them often. A nice get together..................swam and played bocci and my dh manned the grill. All good.
Also went to the 71st. Pow Wow of the Shinnecock tribe here out east. Lots of fun. Dancing on stage, all outdoors, vendors, music. We had a good time.
Now back to regular routine............and time to start thinking about the holidays. Wow. The time flies!!!
Food a bit heavy over the weekend, but I am tracking daily and making the best of these occasions. I hope I didn't gain weight, but I'll know on Wed. at the WI. I won't be surprised if I did. Glad you have the TOPs group back in swing with the full sessions. You do so well with them.
Talk soon. Keep on keepin' on!
    Judy
  • Morning, turtles

Well my weigh in was not good (up 3#) I knew I would be up, but not that much.
I have to remember my weighs in are now on Tues not Thus, so have less time after weekend to drop it, if I over indulged on weekend.
But - this week I have been trying to eat more low carb, so will see how that goes.

Judy - hope your weigh in went well.
    Have a good weekend!

I just booked a trip for Nov 13th to Mexico with 6 other ladies - so looking forward to that. Hopefully the weather will co-operate.
Have to drop some weight before then - there will be lots of drinks for sure!
  • Hi Turtles,
Okay Gail, planning for the trip to Mexico really puts you on track.
I know..................sometimes the scale is up more than I think it should be. I find tracking helps a lot. I have a cell phone now and track the points on that. Whew. Is that revealing! Anyway, I was up four tenths of a pound this week. Not a surprise since we went to the Shinnecock Pow Wow and the fried Indian bread was 17 points. Ugh. Well, it was delish, but had I known I would have eaten half of it. Also, we had a labor Day BBQ and the food was delish, but I ate a bit too much. So, this week since my WI I am making sure I stay under the allowed points for the day and I plan on losing a pound this week. Hey, we can do this!! :

Yes, I like weighing in on a Wed. Good timing if the weekend was a bit heavy. lol.

Beautiful weather here..............sending : to the people affected by Harvey and the hurricane coming in./

Have a good week. Chime in when you can.
    Judy
  • Good morning, turtles

Super nice weekend up here, spent most of it at trailer around the pool. Got in 90 laps in 2 days plus a couple of big walks as well.
So lots of exercise this week.
Eating has been good as well, I stayed away from chips this weekend & stayed on track which is really good for over the weekend.

Weigh in tomorrow & hoping for a nice loss this week.

Judy - that is a small loss and you can knock that off in no time.

Been watching the news about the hurricanes & I can't imagine what those pool people are going through. The area in Florida is where my friends trailer is (Bonita Springs) and another friend has condo in Naples. Lovely areas. They are both up here and am hoping their places are damaged.

All - have a good week.
  • Hi Turtles,
Sending : to all for a good week and a :
I love that you got in so much swimming. The pool here is closed now, so I'll have to start walking around the neighborhood again. It is so strange how I think I have established a habit and then it disappears.

I skipped my WI this week. To be fair, I am heading right back into WW's after doing work with a nutritionist. I really didn't lose with the nutritionist since healthy eating and establishing good habits was the goal. Now i really want to get this excess weight off. I am tracking the Smart Points and am hoping to have success very soon.

I hope your WI at TOPS went well , Gail. Also, yes we checked on our brother-in-law who lives in northern FL and he lost power and they had high winds, but no real damage. Sending : to all those who have to get everything back together again. So sad and scary.

    Talk soon.
    Judy
  • Hi turtles

Judy - Glad to hear brother-in-law got through all that, so lucky compared to some.

I was down 4# last week at my weigh in so was really happy with that, but got somewhat off track over the weekend. But back on track today.
Got in lots of walking & some swimming as well.

Hope the nutritionist helps you - I find sometimes the more you read about different programmes the more confusing it gets.
For awhile, we were told fat free was the way to go & skip butter, oils etc. Now, we are told margarine is poisen and get back to butter.

For now, I am trying to cut down on my carbs and have moderate protein (about 4 oz per meal) and lots of veggies and full fat dressings, butter, cream.
So will see how this goes. My only downfall this week was too many carbs.

Judy - hopefully your nutritionist will have some true answers.
    Good luck
    Gail
  • Hi Turtles,
Gail, your weight loss was absolutely fantastic. Weigh to go!! : and Keep up the good work. Getting right back on track is the way to keep going. the nutritionist gave me some good ideas. However, I found the limits of her ideas were too tough for me.........for example, eating by the time of the day............no eating after 9 o'clock at night. Also, I needed to limit carbs with her. She had great ideas for handling social situations especially when I am hosting.............which is often. lol. She also wanted me to avoid any unhealthy foods..............like McDonald's chicken nuggets ..........and some times I found myself in situations where I did my best but it didn't lead to a weight loss. Then it did lead to a binge. Anyway, I feel much less pressure on WW's. I just finished a week of tracking, was comfy with my food choices, had some indulgences and lost 1.2# I am very happy. Now to continue on. For example, I was out with my dh today and he wanted a buttered roll he could get at 7-11. I got one too and ordinarily that would not be a good idea at all. BUT I counted it in which was 10 smart points for the roll and butter and I am still full and I didn't feel deprived. maybe WW's has something going for it after all. lol.

Anyway, I knew you'd be happy that I had a decent week and that I lost weight. Slow loss, no deprivation, and onward and downward. Sounds like a plan!
I am setting a simple goal of returning to 185#. Then I'll set another short term goal and get my weight closer to where I want to be.
Okay, keep up the good work. Anyone watching and reading chime in and say hello.
    Judy
  • Hi turtles

Judy - congrats on your weight loss and I am sure you will keep doing what works for you. Depravation does not work - when we finally give in (and we do) we will binge.
So best things to do is "plan for it, journal it and get over it"

I was down 1.5# this week so was very happy with that. As I said, trying to cut down on my heavy carbs (not veggies - gotta have those) and get in some exercise.
Our pool is now closed at the trailer, so will have to look into the public swimming hours and see if I can fit that into my schedule. I really enjoy swimming as well as my walks.

At our meeting this week one of the ladies who lost a bunch of weight did a programme and basically it was coming up with a weight loss goal and breaking it down into smaller deadlines.
So what she used an example was for us to set an achievable goal we would like to reach my next June. And the first deadline would be end of this year.
And you do a chart and post your weekly goal and take into account holidays (maybe stay the same or abit of a gain) then next 2 weeks would be higher loss etc.
So I need to come up with my plan for year-end by next week, so we have Thanksgiving and my Mexico holiday to take into consideration. Anyway, sounds like something to keep me focussed.

All - hope you are all on track & chime in when you can.
    Gail
  • Hi Turtles,
Best of everything to those of you who check in here. :

Gail, that is another great loss! Weigh to go! : I like your TOPS presentation where setting goals in a specific manner would work.

I am tracking each day and gaining confidence that I can eat food I enjoy and still lose weight. Gosh, I've got about 55# to lose and would love to lose a pound a week. I've said that so many years and yet this year right now I am up 6# from last December. Well, I'm working on it and that has to be good enough. Let me know how the planning works out. I love that they are suggesting you set this in writing and make it work.
    Take care.
    Keep writing and much luck!!!!
    Judy
  • Morning turtles

Great weekend up here & we are still having a heat wave, which I love (they say temp will go down Thurs) but for now enjoying the heat.

Nice weekend, kids & grandkids were away at cottage & get back today & I went up to my girlfriends trailer which was really nice.
We got in some walking & had a really nice visit. She had a mandolin and we made zucchini chips which were really good. But they should be eaten right away & not saved since they got soft overnight. But this was a really good easy low carb snack & we had them with guacamole dip, yummy!

I did pretty good foodwise this past week, had a few glasses of wine & some pretzel snacks, but overall I think I will OK for my weigh in this week.

All - good luck at the scales
    Gail
  • Hi Turtles,
Gail I love your wish for all of us to have good luck at the scales,. Weigh to go....................for having so many social times, you are really doing well.

I have to make you laugh. When I saw that your friend had a mandolin, I thought she was playing a musical instrument. Isn't that funny? Anyway, music or thin zucchini chips.............it's all good.

Things are going well here. Saw Swan Lake in NYC at Lincoln Center. It was wonderful. The swan was graceful and powerful............absolutely exquisite. Have been tracking for over a month now and I am seeing slow, but steady results. The important part is that I stopped the weight gain that I had in early August. Since I have lost so much weight and regained some I always have that nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I will put back all the weight I lost and not be able to lose again...................So, onward and downward.

We are expecting a cold snap too, to more seasonable weather..............and now the heat is kind of weird.
Take it easy, keep tracking and watching for good healthy foods.
    Judy

  • Hi Turtles,
I am a bit disappointed about my WI at WW's today. I was up two tenths of a pound..............which is nothing, but I was looking for a loss.

This will be a challenging week since my birthday is coming up. and my friend is taking us out to dinner tonight, I'll have dinner with the kids on Sunday, and then dinner again on Tuesday. lots of fun to look forward to, but a lot of eating that I'll have to manage.

On another note, I started using FitBit today. i like it and am surprised at how much walking I do just doing housework...............so all good.

Good luck to all. Gail, thanks for keeping in touch. Onward and downward!!
