  • Hi Guys! First one here again - you can tell Kirsty's on holiday, can't you? I hope she's having a good time and they haven't been banneed from walking because of foot and mouth (you heard about that, right?). I went running in the meadows this morning and there was straw soaked in disinfectant at all the entrances that you had to walk through ... it is such a disaster ...

Wow, so many posts to read this morning! I will have to open another window to be able to remember what everyone said...

Ali - how was Ottawa? Did you like the College? Lola - I was in Ottawa for a week in about 1991 - my school had an orchestra exchange with a school called Lisgar Collegiate. I stayed with a family in Stewart St, really close to the Rideaux Centre. Wow! I remembered all those names! It was a beautiful city, I loved it there.

Trish - you feeling better today? Wrap up warm and get lots of fluids in. And NOOOOOOOOOOO about the beer - I am 26 in June! 3 months of carefree beer-drinking and then ... I can't even think about it Hope your hubby cheered up when he came home to you last night ...

KAy - wow, you are close to goal. That's so cool! Enjoy the wedding ...

Brenda - did you and Nestle do Tae Bo last night? I have the funniest picture in my head of the two of you bouncing around together! And OH! OH! OH! you saw the Bridget Jones trailer? I would kill to see that! Isn't Hugh playing the nasty boyfriend? Does Rene Zellweger sound really English? SO JEALOUS!!!!!

Belle - how was volleyball? I hope you're feeling better too ... same advice as to Trish, wrap up and drink lots.

Debbie - how was Duran Duran? You guys all go to see such cool bands ... I have been to three concerts in my life: the Everley Brothers (!), Glenn Campbell (!!) and the Fleadh last summer where I saw Kirsty McCOll who was brilliant. I loved her. I was so sad when she died. Oh, and after the Glenn Campbell concert I got to meet him! I still have an autographed ticket somewhere ...

Hey Stacey! Giving up ice cream. Wow, impressive. The only reason I don't have it EVERY night is because it gives me cramps (dairy ...). We have soy ice cream but only 4 flavours ... My favourite real flavour is Carte D'Or Coconut ... what about you guys> (WHo said we were obsessed about food? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif )

Becky, welcome! The book is a translation I ddi with 3 other people, but it just got published last week - my first real book! It's on amazon.co.uk if you search under Castelao (the original author). Wow, Grand Cayman, that sounds fab!

Emily, what is PB pie? Did you get your nap in the end?

Tonya - thanks for the encouragement : I've never heard of MAtchbox 20, what kind of music do they do?

Hope I haven't missed anyone out! I'd better go now and start looking at my CV again, I'm applying for part-time teaching jobs, to get experience, but without having experience already it's hard, so I have to find ways of talking myself up. Vicious circle!

Take care everyone, and see you later!

    love

  • Morning All!

I went to Ottawa yesterday, looked at the college, learned I had been accepted to both programs. Apartments are scarce though, but now I at least now know the area where I should be looking. Hmmmmm.... should I be a museum manager or a paralegal.... decisions decisions. The thing is, museum work is suppose to be good for the next few years and then plummet, while paralegal work is plentiful and more flexible (location wise at least)... Oh well, I have until June to decide.

I also bought a jacket yesterday (a medium, but the small fit, but due to wearing sweaters and stuff under it I chose the medium) and a few bras (boy am I flat chested now! I know too much info) at the Rideau centre (which I now know Lolly's been to ).

Debbie: Yeah, whle I was walking around yesterday the wind was nasty. Has it been colder in NYC this year as well? What kind of graduate work are you doing?

Stacy: the sniffles seem to have gone down. My ear is sore, but asides from that I am fine!

Trish: I think I would one day like to be a lawyer, but I also don't feel like dedicating another 4-5 years for Law School right now. So I think I'll do the paralegal thing for now (if that's what I decide between my current career choices) and work for a few years and then maybe go to Law School. I hate being an indecisive Libra somtimes.

Brenda: well where I'll be living next year is close to a Red Lobster, but unfortunately I'll also be playing the role of poor student so I doubt I'll be able to go often. But the shrimp I had yesterday was yummy as was the baked potato (the put a lot of salt on it though and I have WI today, oh well).

Belle: I love Chantal K's music, it's really good. I have her first CD, but I like a lot of the stuff from the second CD as well.

    Becky: Welcome!!

Emily: Glad to see you back, hope you're okay.

Tonya: wow, that's awesome! What are you doing your master's in? Definately good luck though, but you know what? The goal making skills I have learned with WW has actually begun to cross over into other parts of my life.

Casey: 2lbs is still awesome! You'll probably hit your 10% next week and that's great!

Lolly: The college was nice enough and modern. Though I am used to a University which has 2000 students, this one has at least 15 000. The atmosphere is different, but i think I need a new atmosphere, my current school is great, but it's kind of in an isolated bubble (called the Bishop's Bubble).

Eek, I WI tonight. I am not sure how that will go. I had a lunch out yesterday and I am having lunch with my dad today. I'll hopefully make good choices though

    Take Care!

    Ali

  • Good morning Lolly and Ali, and the rest who will come out and play later on...

Well, TOM is hating me this month -I went to bed at 9 with a hot water bottle....and slept til 6 without waking even to pee....that is a miracle for me!!

I went to v-ball, we won 1/3, so not as bad as usual! B/f showed up half way through and I started doing worse - I think he makes me nervous when I play cuz he is always telling me what I do wrong -I have more fun when he isn't there...but don't tell him that....

Anyway, then I went to his apt for aboutan hour and watched Simpsons, then went to home. I stood my ground about not sleeping over last night...though it was tempting, he was sick and looked pretty cute. But oh well, must resist puppy dog eyes!!

I ended up walking 45 min yesterday and 1 hour of v-ball, so no bloody wonder I was so POOPED!

Becky - My goal is 165 and I am 5'7. My doc said that is a good healthy maintainable goal, so I am getting there and then going to see if I am happy there, and if not, I will go further. My top is 159, so maybe I'll go down to there, I'll wait and see!! We have ALL been where you are now, trust us!! Lots of us started out weighing MUCH MORE than 190 - I still do and I have been at it since the fall too - you can see most of our starting and current weights on our signatures (see below ).

    Casey - well done!!

Ali - I think my boobs are shrinking too!! I bought a bra on the weekend that was a full size smaller - YAY!! I have always hated having big boobs....

Lolly - that is pretty scarey, the foot and mouth. Its so sad too that all those animals are being put to death. First mad cow and now this. Ih ad a pet calf when I was a little girl, so I am partial to cows. I know, how silly is that, but I was the baby and none of my siblings or cousins would hang out with me so when my school friends were away I was pretty lonely. They tricked me into eating my cow (rosebud - but it was really a bull) one summer - Iwas devastated. Imagine eating your dog - that is how i felt aobut my rosebud.

    ANYWAY.....on a lighter note.....

U2 in a mere month and 9 days!! YAY!!!

I love them...sigh! Except Bono is kind of a freak, but oh well.

Have a good day, Ishoudl do some work here...yikes!

  • Hey everyone! My boss is away today! Yippee!
But, I'll have to do some work to at least prove I was here.

Casey: That's great about the loss!! I did a cartwheel for you!! (in my mind )

Lolly: How are your wedding plans coming?

Trish: I taped Oprah and only watched a little bit, saving it for later. But Gosh! I thought Jon was going to die right on the screen. He looked like snakes were swimming around his ankles. How awful! I couldn't imagine having any sort of problem like that!

Belle: Good for you about going home! Wow! 45 min of walking??? I would've gone to bed at 9, too!!

Ali: I'm glad you're feeling better! I get ear infections all the time. They are so annoying! MMmmmm Red Lobster! I wonder if eating crab legs for breakfast would be considered odd?

Becky: Hang in there and set small goals for yourself, too! I got an idea from Trish about giving yourself a sticker or star for each day you are OP (on program) then at the end of the week, if you have so many stars then you get a treat! Mine for me was a new bra and panties from Victoria Secret. It's a fun way to "fool" yourself into staying on program.

Here is my wedding plans update: My dress is fitting better, the back still doesn't stay snapped but I think I need to get a bigger boosteeay (can't spell) I've ordered the wedding cake, flowers, and I know what I want the bridesmaid dresses to look like. My seamstress works for H&R Block and can't get started on them until April 16th. But she's awesome and that's plenty of time to make the dresses. We're going to Cozumel on our honeymoon, staying in the El Cozumeleno. We put the deposit down and I can't wait to get on that plane!! Oh yeah, the invitations are in and I just love them! I'll start addressing them before too long.
Well, I guess you can tell my boss isn't here since my post is about as long as the Nile River. haha
Hello to anyone I missed and anyone who was posting while I was writing my novel. I'll be around lurking and posting today.
Have a great Friday! Yippee!!! The weekend is only 6 hours away!!

  • Morning Girls!!
I am so glad that it is Friday even though I have a busy weekend ahead of me it's still not work.
Lolly- Inform me on the Bridget Jones excitement. Should I read it? What's the title Etc. I am clueless!! I noticed someone asked you about wedding plans. When's the Big day. 2 of my sisters just got married so if you have any questions I feel like a pro. wedding planner

Ali-I was looking at you weight loss stats WOW you have really come a long way congrats!!! Keep up the good Work. I hope that I will have awesome weight loss stats soon! Good luck at WI!!

Belle- Who do you play volleyball for? I love volleyball but I truly never have the opp. to play anymore. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I have done well this week. How do I fix my signature to have my stats. I am not sure how to do that!!

Stacey-Thanks I love the sticker idea!! I need some sort of system. I actually went on a little bit of a spending spree yesterday but I will have to start making myself wait for those until the end of each week or month. Incidentally I bought the coolest sweater! It makes me feel so trendy. It is one of the sweater that are like a 3/4 length and it sort of wraps around you. I kow there is a name for that but I am blanking. I also bought a spring coat that's adorable! I LOVE SHOPPING http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif

Hi to everyone else that replies. I will check in later. Have I mentioned that I love this
  • Does anyone have their points booster handy? If so, I wonder if you can tell me at my weight how much points I get for 45 min brisk walking and 1 hour of volleyball - I figure that should buy me one more point...maybe 2.

    Thanks....

    Belle

  • Hello all. Well, I did it, I avoided the muffins yesterday and ended my day one point under minimum. That is ok, however, because not only was I way over on Thursday but I am so sick and went to bed at 8:00 after Surviver (poor Michael).

Re the Oprah show, I don't think you can see us at all. Actually, that was our plan all along. My hubby said that you can see us on the "after the show" segment that Oprah plays on Oprah.com. I can not get my real player to work however, so I do not know about this. Stacey, you are right about Jon. I really felt bad for him.

Lolly: what is this mouth and feet thing? I have not heard of it? Oh, and it is so sad but true about the beer..so drink up girl. (ha)

Ali: congrats on getting into the programs. I think working in a museum would be very cool. Maybe I will start applying to museums in Chicago re PR? But I don't live in Chicago, you say. Well, that is true but my hubby always says we can not move there because we don't have any jobs there. If i got a job there, then there goes his theory.

Belle: I just read an article in Shape about team sports being one of the best ways to stay committed to you work out. I thought of you and your v/ball. Good job on that!!!

Well, I will stop by in the afternoon.

    Good day,

    Trish
  • Hello all again. Belle, it looks to me like you get 3pts for the walking (I figured it moderate but if it was high, it would be 4) and 4pts for the v/ball (that I also figured as moderate but if it was light you get 3). So there it is. Hope that helps.

Becky: I love to shop too. What kind of jacket did you get? I really want one of the spring color knee length trench coats (like Old Navy has). Sweater sound cute. and you will have great numbers to post on your stats very soon.

  • WOW!! that is way higher than I had expected.....cool!! I should use those extra points on...BEER! This weekend...but I won't, I really hope to see a nice loss on Monday afternoon!

    Thanks so much Trish!

    Belle
  • Good morning all. I just had to sit through a really boring strategy meeting. I am getting so tired of the same discussion every Friday..."How do we find customers and how should we define our software products better to sell?" I don't even try to contribute anymore because a lot of my ideas are just ignored for 6 months until the good ol' boys decide that they actually were good ideas! Ah, the life of a woman in a tech company. Enough of my griping.

There were so many posts yesterday, I'll try to add what I can.

Welcome Becky (if I haven't already said so)!!!! Where did your scren name Grace come from? I ask because its a beautiful name. My friend just named their daughter Ella Grace and I love it! As everyone else says, you're in a great place for support and you WILL reach your goal. My WW leader has a great piece of advice...Following the WW program (or any healthy program) is being a thin person. It just takes a while for the mirror to catch up. Keep that in mind and before you know it you'll be there. This is my second time OP, so the longer you stay on, the more you practice being thin. Unfortunately I didn't practice enough the first time and gained back the 30# I had lost originally.

I can't believe I am so close to goal. I only wish I would have done it before the wedding. I would have enjoyed Puerto Villarta a little more in my suit. But, I can't dwell on it. I still felt beautiful and had a wonderful wedding anyway. Luckily the dress hid a lot of the weight I had gained (It was white satin, strapless, v-waisted with box pleating. It had pearls along the top and bottom and a removeable train).

Belle ~ what's a Canuk? Good job on the exercise. I would guess that you earned about 3 pts depending on how aggressively you play v-ball.

Stacey ~ Your wedding plans seem to be coming along. I got my bridesmaids dresses on-line from Chadwicks. It was the black satin and chiffon dress with a sash (on the website it is yellow). They gave great service and the dresses we're only $80! I bought one for myself to wear to parties.

I don't know who made the comment about boobs...but mine are almost gone (TMI). I never had them in the first place, but they are almost back to my high school size http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif. I was thin in HS because I was a dancer and worked out 5 hours a day. Oh for that motivation again. I'm thinking about signing up for a hip-hop class soon for fun.

I ditto the comment on the shopping! I love it! My DH is soooo not used to my shopping habits. I told him that when he makes more $ than me he can complain. It is all in fun, though. I'm only at a slight advantage because I've been out of school 2 1/2 years longer than he had! Besides we pool our money anyway so its all the same.

Casey ~ Congrats on the 2#! I hope I see that next week. Then I'll be 6.6 away from goal!

Ok...I've rambled long enough. Thanks for listening everyone! Talk to ya'll later!

  • Happy Friday everyone!!!

Good morning Lolly! Good luck on the teaching jobs, I know sometimes they are hard to come by!

Ali ~ Congrats on your acceptance! Good luck apt hunting! I will be doing my master's in Adult Education probably. Goal making skills and organizational skills cross over in many areas of life I have found!

Belle ~ Sorry to hear of the pains of TOM, but you did awesome exercising!!! Way to go!!! I agree, Bono is a freak, oh well, gotta love em!

Stacey ~ Way to get away from the boss today!! Surf the net all day!!! I am so excited for you on your wedding! It will be one of the days of your life you will always remember! How exciting!

Grace ~ Nice to see you sticking around here! This is a great group!

Trish ~ I am so proud of you for avoiding the muffins! What willpower!!!!

Kay ~ DITTO on the ol' boys club! In our IT dept, there are 40 employees and only two women developers/trainers and the secretary (which is my mom!) Pretty low stats, I don't see it getting any better either, IT is a man's world....so sad!

Well, on the boob issue...after I had children they became even smaller, then I lost 36 pounds, and now down to a size A, pathetic! As far as shopping goes....my DH doesn't give me much grief, and when he does I tell him "You want me to look good don't you"? That usually shuts him up!!

Well, last day of work for the week, I am looking forward to the weekend. I have been eating at the high end of my points, but have been working out quite a bit, so I am hoping to maintain.

Well, better head to lunch, I will check in this afternoon, when I have no ambition to work!!!!!!

  • Hello ladies,

Last night was **** at work. A person that is affiliated with the college I work at came in and made nasty racist comments and was obnoxious to alum. It was a very bad time and I was a basketcase when I got home. Bf was so nice to me and my boss was responsive about the episode too but geesh! I don't get paid enough!

Belle~Good for you for standing your ground. You are really sticking to your guns and that is a very rare thing. You are definately a strong woman

Lolly~I remember that viscious circle when I was right out of college. i just didn't understand it!

Ali~Congrats on the acceptance and medium jacket!

Stacey~How exciting to get married! Lucky you, boss is away....mines at lunch now We are mischievous!

Grace~It is great here isn't it. I have never met a cooler and nicer gang that the 20 somethings.

Trish- I tried to get my friend to tape Oprah yesterday but her recorder wouldn't work. I would have loved to see Jon and Jordan. Oh well, maybe I will send away for a copy Good job on the muffins!

Kay~I hate long meetings too. Ours are usually 3 hours long Your dress sounds beautiful. I can't wait to get married! Good job on all that weight loss!

Well, I'm off to Subway....my boss laughs at me cause I always have subway sandwiches.

  • Hi everyone. I have to make this quick... Lunch time!! I have a challenge for everyone... I am going to attempt it myself! Does anyone know about the Self Challenge that they do every year??? Well, this year I am actually going to do it. It will be tough, but I like a good challenge! I tried to do it last year, then I go PG and that blew it for me! So anyway, check out the current Self magazine or go to http://www.self.com (I think there is info there) and check it out! Let me know who wants to join me. I will even track our progress if you want me too!

Have a great day/weekend. I'll post more later!
