50 or more week of Nov. 25

  • If you have 50 or so pounds to lose, this is the group for you!

Hi everyone ... sure has been quiet in here! We've gone through some quiet times before, but nothing like this. Was it something I said?

I hope everyone is having a great Monday, and that you enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. We are leaving tomorrow for our cruise, so I won't be back until the following Monday. Will try to log on from the ship, if I can.

Tonya, you are doing so well on the program! I will be sending good thoughts your way over the next week.

JOYce, hope you are having fun at the tournament in Flagstaff!

Carol, are you through with your flu clinics?

Hi to Linda, Texaslady, Janet, and Lilithu! Please stop in and say hello!
    Regards,
    Jan
  • Bon Voyage!!
Hi Jan!! I'm still here and doing great. I have been meaning to pop in to say hi, but I'm still having a little trouble with my laptop at home...so I decided to post from work. I just had to tell you BON VOYAGE!! I hope y'all have a wonderful time. I know you are going to enjoy spending time with your family. Keep in touch while you're away if you are able. You are the glue that holds us together lately, and I apologize for not posting more often. This has been a busy and complicated year, but I still feel very blessed and one of those blessings is knowing that I have all of you here as friends.

JOYce, I hope you are enjoying your trip to Arizona!! Like Jan, I know you will also enjoy spending time with your family. Your dgd will get over not having Thanksgiving dinner, but that just goes to show what a wonderful job you have done making holidays extra special for everyone you love. Your sister continues to be in my prayers!

Linda Jean, your remodeling job sounds beautiful. I already knew that you had a sweet husband, but now I know that not only is he sweet but he is talented as well. You are very lucky...and vice versa...he is very lucky to have someone as wonderful as you to share his life with.

I hope everyone else is doing good. Texaslady, it seems like forever since I've "talked" to you. I hope you are enjoying being back at your old job. I'm sorry that our reunion didn't work out this year because I was really looking forward to seeing you again.

Carol, I hope you are enjoying your new job. It seems like ages since I've talked to you too, but we will definitely talk on the phone soon. I want to hear all about your new job and those precious grandbabies.

Tonya, congratulations on your great losses!! You are doing it the way you should...slow and steady. I look forward to getting to know you better. I usually post more often but have been slacking lately.

Lilithu (I love that name), please post soon so we will know how you are doing. I look forward to getting to know you better as well, and we are glad that you and Tonya are part of our group.

I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving. Ours will be fairly small this year. DD is going with her daddy to his mother's house, so we will have Thanksgiving with my family that night. Tim will be leaving for Basic Training at Fort Knox January 9th, so we are spending as much time with him as possible. I get tears in my eyes when I think about him leaving...for many reasons. He will probably be my son-in-law one day, but right now he is like a son to me and I can't help but worry. JOYce, I'm keeping your dgd in my prayers as she prepares to go to the Gulf. I have so much respect for these men and women.

On the health front, everything is going great. I have lost about 15 pounds (although I have a feeling that a few of those pounds might creep back on this week). My last checkup went wonderfully, and all my numbers were on the low side of normal, if not below normal...which was great. He said he didn't know what I was doing, but it was working. Oh...and someone told me that they thought I was 35 last week...needless to say that made my day!!

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!!
  • Happy Turkey day!
We leave Thursday A.M. for the tournament. her team ended up league champs here, so they are going to play with even greater excitement in the International Thanksgiving tournament.

DGD, Jen leaves on Dec. 3 for the gulf, thanks Kudzu for mentioning her, I do appreciate your prayers, and for dear sis too! I had a hurried visit up North this weekend when she went to the hospital with chest pains. Such a scare! but all tests on the heart were normal, and she is feeling better than ever. She is amazing! She will have another scan on her chest on Wed. to check the tumors there. "Expecting another miracle!"

I did a quick WI before I left town on Friday with a nice loss of over a pound.
We are having horrible Santana winds today! really stirring up the ashes from the fire! I just came home to find my big boston fern upside down on the front sidewalk!

    Bon voyage Jan! Safe sailing!!
Kydzu, it is so good to be reading your post! good to hear from you.

  • Kudzu, I am so excited for you; 15 pounds down, WOW, and good test results to boot! That is so wonderful; you should be very proud of all that hard work. And I know this week won't undo it! That is so cool about the "35" compliment; I have always thought you looked very young, though, so it doesn't surprise me at all. So good to hear from you!

JOYce, wtg on another pound lost! You are making such sure and steady progress. I am glad to hear that your sister's tests came out ok after that scare; how awful, and how frightening that must have been, though. I will keep her in my prayers as she fights this battle. Have a safe and lovely trip to Flagstaff for the game; an International Tournament, what an honor! It's great that you can be there to share in your dgd's time to shine!

We have been packing for days, and tonight has been really hectic; I think Dad is trying to pack up his entire house, bless his heart. (He'll only be gone three weeks.) We have bags for the drive to New Orleans, bags for the boat, and bags for his visit with my sister afterwards. Plus birthday gifts for ds, Dad, and d-b-i-l, all of which we are celebrating on the cruise, passports, cameras, you name it ... will need a vacation to recup from getting ready for the vacation! I know we'll have a great time, though, and can't wait to see my sisters and my darlin' b-i-l again.

Will try to post from the boat if they have an internet cafe or something! Everyone have a great Thanksgiving. I, for one, will not forget to give thanks for improved health and weight loss, among other blessings. I know I couldn't have made this journey alone ... you ladies were truly heaven sent, and I'll never forget all the sharing, support, and caring that has happened here on this board.

    Luv,
    Jan
  • Good morning everyone! I just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving here will be quiet. DD,dsil and my little sweeties are going to Miami for the day to see his brother. It's a 4 hour drive, and they are driving up and back the same day. Sounds like a fun trip to me with a toddler and an 8 mo th old! Exdh and I will have T'giving dinner together- whether we will go out or just cook something is up in the air. I imagine we will have a T'giving type dinner with the kids some time this weekend. Friday (which is a day off for us too) I plan on meeting my 3 former cohorts from the job I just left for lunch- they have all left that job too!

Speaking of jobs, the new job is going real well- very challenging, and a lot to learn (paperwork is the number one fetish of the government!), and I'm loving it.

Jan, have a wonderful trip. I have never been on a cruise, but hear they are wonderful! I can't wait to hear all about it!
Joyce, my prayers are with your dgd. I know it will be a tough time for you. I am glad you ds is feeling better gain, and pray for a good checkup for her!
Linda, Janet Texaslady, Tonya and Lilithu, hi to all- sorry I don't have time this morning to post more to each of you, but you are in my thoughts!
I hope everyone has a happy and reasonably OP Thanksgiving!
    Carol
  • Hello everyone!

I am off this whole week for Thanksgiving. I have a lot of cooking to do because we have it at my house. Luckily I am not a big sweet eater because I would be in trouble. So far I have made 10 Sweet Potatoe Pies, Apple Cobbler, Chocholate Cake, Lemon Cake, and a Butter Rum Cake. I know that is a lot of sweets. But the good thing is when you are cooking you are too tired to eat. Since Weight Watchers is closed on Thursday I am going to go in Wednesday. I cheated today at the gym and I have lost another two pounds. I am down to 230.5. I will make it through the holidays if its the last thing I do. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  • OMIGOSH, Tonya!! How many people are you cooking for? I can't even imaging having the patience to make 10 pies plus 4 other desserts!

  • Here we are on our ...
    NON-CRUISE!!
I'm sitting in an Internet cafe by the river watching our ship come in! Yep. Don't know if it made the news for y'all, but our ship ran aground in Mexico on the cruise before ours. So we were all ready to take our luggage to the pier, when my b-i-l finds out the ship isn't coming. Carnival offered a two-day cruise, thinking they'd have the ship back within two days, but that didn't happen either. So we ended up staying in New Orleans the whole time, and will head for home tomorrow morning (when the ship would have come back.) Oh well, c'est la vie! At least we'll get 50 percent off on a future cruise, and they are taking care of most of our hotel expenses. And we've managed to do lots of walking and have eaten pretty healthy, so I hope not to have gained.

Tonya, I think that is SO great that you have already lost so much, and that you were able to make all those pies without going off program! You are well on your way on this wonderful journey. Keep the faith!

Carol, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family on Thurs and Friday when they returned. I am so glad to hear that you enjoy your new job so much! That makes such a difference in our lives.

Well, I'm running out of time here, so better run. Hi and regards to Texaslady, Janet, Lilithu, JOYce, and Linda!
Will someone else start tomorrow's thread?
    See you Tuesday!
