Hi My Buddies:wave:

Things have changed around here! Gone a few days & we have new smilies & everything.

My back is better, FINALLY!!! I tell you, I really sympathize with people that have back problems. :(

Dianne, Amiga is in the house! I laughed so hard when I saw that you didn't get what Terri wrote. Neither did I!! Geeezzz, what a dedicated boss you have. Calling while on vacation?

Terri, I think you need that Point & Speak. I bought it for Pete & it's been in the box since I bought it last year!. He never gets on the computer. He says it's boring. I'm glad he thinks it's boring this way I have it all to myself.

Jen, happy to hear you're walking. No blue balls yet? It's still humid here. I'm so glad this month is almost over. I love the fall. Awwww, Joey's party. I hope he gets alot of nice things for his new place.

Ruth, so sad about your great uncle. At my job we have attorneys that go into nursing homes to make sure they're not pulling any funny stuff. When the families think there's something going on they start investigating.

I rejoined Saturday. I got there too late for the meeting. It was for kids. I'll go this Saturday. I gotta use up those coupons. I have no motivation but I won't give up.

Well Buds, I haven't been online for a while so have to go read some threads.

Till tomorrow. ;)

Love,
Es

Es,
I'm so glad your back is better. That is the worst type of pain.
I had to laugh when you said you get the computer to yourself cause Pete's not interested. The other night Joe was on for what seemed like hours! I've been urging him to take a continuing ed. class for computer basics, I think it'd make him more comfortable with it.
Way to go on rejoining! It must be great to have it prepaid. Walking thru that door is never easy, I'm glad you did it.

Hope everyone is doing well.

HI everyone I'm Back!!!!
I hope you missed me as much as I missed all of you. They definaltely changed things around here. Either the font is smaller or my "fabulous 40 something" eyes are going faster than I thought

I haven't had time to catch up on all of the posts so I'll make it easy and congratulate all of you. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're still here so that means that you haven't given up :D

In my life: I WI this morning and gained the .5 lb that I has lost last week. Easy come easy go:shrug:

I am going to the Drs on Fri. There is a patch of my arm where the skin has turned white. I am scared that I am turning into Michael Jackson  Anyway it doesn't hurt or anything but I thought that I should get it checked out.

Glad to be back,
Hugs,
Janie

points 08-22-2002 12:07 AM

Welcome back Janie. I am glad you are taking care of that.

Es,
I am soooo glad your back is better. I know how that can hurt!
I am proud of you for rejoining. It will get more motivating. Go try a pair of pants on and try again after a food loss and you will be motivated instantly.

My dad went into Kidney failure on Tuesday but is stable now. I feel like I am on a merry-go-round. I want off!

TTYL,
Terri

decemberdianne 08-22-2002 10:59 AM

Morning my chickidees

Es, congrats on going back to ww. And even though you don't realize it, you actually are motivated because you went back and are planning to go back this Saturday as well - that's motivation in my book, honey!

Jen - how's your fresh start going? Great weather for walking huh?

Janie - welcome back - ohhhhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooo, we don't need two Michael Jacksons in this world, now do we? :p

Terri - I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's set back, but glad he's stabilized. I know what you're going through - stay strong!

Zoe Girl - WHERE ARE YOU??? Get you butt back here woman!:D

Hi Ruth - How's it going girl?

Well, its a beautiful day in NY and I hope it will motivate me to get some walking in tonight - I haven't exactly been motivated lately, but I should be. My cruise is coming up in about 2 1/2 weeks and I wanted to at least maintain so when I go on the cruise I can eat to my heart's content:lol: Well, one good thing is there is a spa for exercising, etc. I understand, so I will be sure to take some time out to at least do some walking. I'll be fine, I'm sure and if not, like I love to say - "life gets in the way sometimes" and I'll just have myself a fresh start when I return. I am not stressing it!

You guys have a great day and I'll talk to you's soon!

Hugs,
Dianne

Dianne,
Great attitude. Can't stress you need to relax and have a good time. Have fun!
Terri

JanieD 08-22-2002 12:46 PM

Terri,
So Sorry to here about your dad, altough it was good to hear that he has stablized. You have certainly been through a lot lately. I'll keep praying.

hi all,
Yesterday I walked for 1hr and 15 min while Ellen was at soccer practice. I don't know how much ground I covered but I figure it was at least 4 miles. Today I am going to ruin it by going to yet another retirement party lunch and then out to dinner with my family. I will try to make good choices.

GOt to go,
JanieD

Jenny523 08-22-2002 02:40 PM

Hi,

This has been a good week so far, day 5 of being OP. Staying focused on one day at a time has been working. In 10 months I'll turn 50  and I don't want to do so at this weight. I want to be on a beach somewhere that day, so I'm using that as my goal. I've changed my desktop screen to a tropical island, and made a Top 10 List (a la Dave Letterman), with all the reasons I need to do this. I'm a visual person, this had better help!

Terri,
Sorry about your Dad. Keep your chin up and know that we're here for you.

Dianne,
I've only walked outdoors once this week, due to the weather, etc.. I'm not using the blue balls w/the video, but rather some 3 pound hand weights I already had. I'm anxious to get a walk outside again, it feels like I accomplish more out there.

Janie,
That was a walk! Good luck at the dr. tomorrow....let us know that it's nothing, ok?

HI  to ES, ZOE, SANDY, RUTH

later,
~Jen

EsRios426 08-22-2002 07:31 PM

Hi:wave:

Terri, if you jump off the merry-go-round I'll catch you. Hang in there Buddy.;) I'm going to take your advice about the pants. I have a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear for quite some time so when I start losing those are the ones I'm going to try on.

Jen, WTG with 5 days on program. I did Taebo for 2 days but today I took a break. I got home from work & started watering my flowers & I winded up weeding for 1 hr.!! I was sweating my butt off. I don't know how many activity points we get for gardening. When I walk outdoors I feel like it's a better workout than my treadmill. You're pretty motivated. I like your birthday goal.:D

Janie, I hope you had a great time today. If you went over your points you can always make it up tomorrow. ;)

Mi Amiga! a cruise sounds sooo cool! My oldest sister is going on one in October, to Bermuda. I remember a few yrs. ago a lady in a WW meeting screamed when she got on the scale. She had just gotten back from a cruise & had gained 10 lbs. I have confidence in you. I'm sure you'll be fine. :) The main thing is to enjoy yourself. Party Hearty girlfriend! Like they say, we only live once.

The Saturday WW leader did something so nice. She sent me a postcard welcoming me to the Saturday group & that she knows I'm going to do well. Wasn't that sweet?

Dave gets his last 2 wisdom teeth out tomorrow. My poor baby:( He'll be spending the night. He knows Mom will take good care of him.

Well buddies, I'll be back manana(tomorrow)

Love you's,
Es

Zoe!!! Stop by & say hi.

:dancer:

points 08-22-2002 11:54 PM

Thanks so much Janie, Jen and Es.
You are all so sweet. Thanks for catching me Es. Hope I don't hurt you. :)
Janie,
Great job on the walking. That is awesome.

You too with the teabo Es. Hug poor Dave for me. Ouch!

Jen,
What a great idea. I love the top 10 list. Post it sometime if it isn't to personal. 5 days! WoooHooo!

Well my dad is still stable with a little puffiness to his legs from the kidneys. :(

There was a fight in Britt's school and blood was everywhere and two male teachers tried to break it up and 1 was thrown against a door jam and required stitches in the back of his head and the other got a black eye and bloody nose. It was awful!!!
This is a very high performance school. Nothing like this before. It started by someone putting someone's sister down. Please! Thank God there were no guns or anything. It is scary in this day and age.

TTYL,
Luv ya,
Terri

Jenny523 08-23-2002 11:41 AM

Terri,
Wow, that's awful about the fight at school....what a lousy thing for the kids to have to see/worry about. You're so right about the absence of guns, thank God. While it's sad to see schools installing metal detectors and having police officers on duty in the halls, it's necessary now.
You know, at first I thought I wouldn't post my Top 10 Reasons to Lose Weight (which began as a homework exercise that was given to us at WW way back in Jan. when I went), but then I thought, why not?

JEN'S TOP 10 REASONS TO LOSE WEIGHT
~ Be able to wear regular-sized clothing, no more plus sizes!
~Eliminate back and knee pain
~Safeguard my health from heart disease, diabetes, etc.
~Have more stamina/endurance
~Improve my sex life! (see #4 lol)
~Increase my self-confidence
~Like what I see in the mirror
~Enjoy more outside activities and sports
~Relish the sense of accomplishment I'll have upon reaching my goal
~ THE BEACH IN MEXICO !
I've got this printed inside the cover of the folder I use for my journal. It gets me through some moments of weakness.

Es,
I can't believe how much work it is to garden...especially the weeding, which should definitely earn some activity points. Glad your back is better, but be careful!

later,
~Jen

points 08-23-2002 11:52 AM

Jen,
Your top 10 list is great! I can see how that would motivate you.
My list would be the same except I am not going on a beach in Mexico. I might be going on a short cruise though so I can envision that.
GREAT JOB!!!!

Terri

JanieD 08-23-2002 02:11 PM

Hi gals,
Thank you all for your comments about my arm/skin. I went the Dr this morning. She is treating me for a fungal infection, however she isn't sure that is what it is. This is the first step. IF this doesn't work then I start Moon Walking  I didn't do too well with my choices yesterday but I did go to the club and did 30+ mins on the treadmill and 15 min on the stationary bike. I really want get down before my mom comes in 2 wks. She cooks when she's visiting and isn't too careful about cooking light like I am. She is better than she used to be, since her cholesterol was recently measured high. Funny, she didn't change at all when my Dad's chol was tested high, 10 yrs ago.

Jen,
Great Job on those top 10. I'll meet you in Mexico!

Es,
I hope Dave's teeth aren't giving him too much pain. I remember when I had mine out, it was awful. They were all impacted.

Hugs,
JanieD
