Thought a new thread was in order, the other one was 2 pages. Anyway, I wanted to say I am sorry for missing in action. I don't know what is going on with me, but I have been having seizures lately. I had one as a baby but never since. I had one yesterday and was conscious through it. I was watching tv and got up, went out on the deck leaned on the railing and called the girls in for lunch. Then I immediately fell crashing down on my side, smashing my head and was convulsing. I remember thinking during it that I was having a seizure and I was trying to make it stop before Steve came out and saw me so I wouldn't be embarassed. Steve heard Brianna screaming and came out and it just stopped. I got up and I was fine. I will be calling the doctor today as soon as they open. When I had this one I realized in the last 6 weeks or so I have had atleast 4 or 5 others. I never remembered them I just knew I kept falling down and smashing my head then just getting up. I figured I had tripped each time and just brushed it off. But now that I experienced this one, I know what those other episodes were. The only thing I have done different is get the depo birth control shot, I have been on those for about 4 months so I am thinking it has to be related. The sad thing is I just had one about 3 weeks ago and there is no way to get it out of my system so I have around 2.5 to 3 months before it is out of my system. I am real scared right now to drive and I would absolutely die of embarassment if it happened at work. Well anyway, just wanted to catch you guys up on why I haven't been around.
Okay, now I had a post disappear. Yes I found post when she had the seizure, it sounds like it was quite different from mine. I am scheduled tomorrow afternoon for bloodwork and a catscan and they are trying to get me an appointment for a neuralogical exam. I will let you all know how it goes.
PJ, sorry I was out of the loop when you had your seizure and wasn't there for you. It sounds like yours was more severe than mine. I am glad you are okay. Did they keep you on the medicine still? How are you feeling?
Bren that is awful...hope they find out the cause and treat it!
Erica..glad you got a scale and that is the smart thing to do with the weighing.
Setina..how nice of your friend to bring you flowers!
Sheri...Our bodies just seem to want to go back to that comfy(higher) weight. I am still maintaining but it is a constant battle!
HI Judy and PJ and all other missing owls!
Cleaned today so I am bushed and sore, climbed up and down the ladder outside doing the kitchen window. (took the screens and storm glass out and did the curtains too!) Now I can see outside again! The gal that helps me clean brought her 8 year old on along today since he is out of school, I thought it was very unprofessional of her not to ask me or let me know. He was not a problem but I showed him how to use the computer and play games and let him use the pool table. She had to keep checking on him too so that took time and she was being paid!!!!! Dh was upset cause he was worried about him getting hurt and them sueing..men..that never entered my mind.
Last week I let 15 pts go and this week I cannot eat enough! had some really good baked salmon tonight with greenbeans and some lite choc. icecream with toasted almonds!
I had my bloodwork and catscan today and am hoping to hear from my doctor today. I am just praying that it is not a tumor or something. I am really scared but hanging in there. I really believe it is the depo shot and hoping it is, then I know once it is out of my system, I should be fine. I am hanging on to that hope.
Candice, thanks for your kind words. I agree it was rude of your house helper to bring her child without asking you first, it would have been the proper thing to do. I am just glad it all worked out for you.
First of all, Brenda, I hope that your results come back showing it was the shot. Will be thinking of you until we hear.
I have some questions for you gals however. Do any of you take vitamins (B6) or anything else to combat PMS bloating and cravings? A lot of my frustration comes from the fact that I do horribly the week of my period (bloating, etc) then I do great the week after, then a bad week with ovulation (sometimes as bad as a period) and then a good week after. It always seems like it's one step forward and one step back, thus never getting anywhere. I did read the B6 was supposed to help. Any thoughts?
Also, have any of you dealt with an overweight child? My daughter is almost 15, about 5'7" and weighs about 205. She is basically the same size as I am. I would never expect her to be the size WW or even the drs say she should be. She is just not built that way. She is however "thick" around the middle, butt & thighs. The thing that gets me is she is very athletic (well not the greatest player, but she never gives up). Some of it may be muscle, but there is "fat" there too. She played soccer for school last fall, played basketball for school during the winter, and is playing AAU basketball now. High school sports in our area practice almost every night. So, she gets plenty of exercise, and because I don't buy junk food she eats fairly healthy. She takes her own lunch to school and has no money to buy anything at school, so I know she is not eating crap. I know she is frustrated, and I probably don't help matters because she knows I am concerned too. Honestly, I think alot of my problem is that I know how she is perceived at sporting events and this probably bothers me more than her. Any thoughts or experience here would be greatly appreciated. I am wondering about thyroid, but am afraid the dr will just say she needs to diet.
I don't usually blab like this (esp. to new "friends"), but the stress all of the above is causing me is starting to really affect me. Not to mention the problems my son is having in school, which led us to seek counseling only to find out he is mildly ADD. But, that's another story.
I feel better now that all of this is off my chest. I don't really have anyone to talk to, so I am real sorry if I'm overstepping here. You gals all seem so nice and supportive.
Bren .... I'm with you and hoping it's the depo....I took it for awhile and while it didn't affect me to that point it made me positively EVIL! I stopped taking it and that's how I ended up with son #3 at 40!!! He will be 5 next week...hard to believe!! Well I just wanted you to know that I was thinkin about you and sending up a prayer that it is nothing serious. Please post how the tests turn out. And that is wierd...that PJ has had a seizure too. I haven't read on how that ended up...PJ??? was yours stress related?? Hope you are A-OK!!
WOW Setina!! What a wonderful house!!! I am so glad that you guys are out of that apartment and into your own house. I used to worry about you. It looks huge!! I bet you've got lots of places to put your watermelon stuff!!
And PJ is in a new house as well. I saw the pics and it looks great. I absolutely love the pool...well I loved the one in the old house too but I am a water bug big time. How is it going with the stables and the horses? Keeping you busy?? I will be going to the race track here in Virginia the weekend of June 29th for a thing for work. It's called Colonial Downs. I have never been, i guess it will be interesting.Maybe I should get the sheets on who is racing so you could give me some tips
I just wanted to stop in to tell Sheri that she should DEFINATELY have her daughter checked for thyroid problems. That could be the culprit. And it won't hurt to check it (its just a blood test). I speak from experience (I have a bad thyroid too). Just to "rule it out" I would have it done on her. It won't hurt! Good luck!
I am off to bed. I promise to stop in again tomorrow - its been forever since I have posted!!
Sheri..I would definatley get her to a doctor if you know for a fact that she is not eating junk and is very active!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son had a weight problem in HS but it was called being lazy and eating too much fast food! He lost it and has now gained it back plus more. Still likes his fast food. He has all kinds of health problems at 24. So get it under control now! He is now trying that Seattle Sutton premade meals. (healthy meals cause he does not cook!)
Hi emmy........Ya been to the lake?
Hi Tara..so how is your thyroid doing?
Bren..so how are you..any more spells...hope it is the shot too! I bet you are realy anxious aobut it I know I would be.
Had to rest today form all my cleaning and it rained so I was able to take it easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, good news. My catscan and bloodwork all came back fine, so to me that just points more to the depo shot. I have a dr's appt on friday with my family doctor and we will see where we will go from here. I am not going to let him put me on med's. I will see if I continue to have seizures once the shot wears off which should be in a couple months. I just don't want to be on med's the rest of my life. I will see what he says though. I have not had anymore episodes since Sunday.
Candice, so far so good.
Tara, good to see you around.
Hi Em, I have missed you. Yes I have heard that it can really change one's moods but I haven't had that problem, YET!! Glad you seem to be doing well
Sheri, we are always here to listen and share experiences. I have not dealt with a heavy child but was one myself. However I was not athletic at all. I think the best thing for you to do is discuss your concerns with her physican and go from there. If he is a good doctor, he will help you figure it out, thyroid would definitely be a good place to start. Good luck.
hi guys, how are things going? not too bad...still chugging along trying to stay strong and eat right.
I did a bad thing the other nite...after I ate, maybe one or two hours afterwards, I hopped on the scale just to see and I was a few pounds heavier than what I weighed myself as last saturday. i'm assuming it's because i had just eaten...i'm hoping, cause I'll be upset if that number is the same or even higher than last saturday. i wont go back on it again though. that is until my weigh in day.
Bren: Glad to hear thing went well and results came back good. Hopefully everything will clear up for you once that shot runs through your system and is out!
to everyone else...hello and how do you do? hope everyone had a great day! OH and can anyone tell me how the buddy list works on here? I see some people are listed as online, but is there a buddy list on this site?
Hi Erica - There isn't a buddy list on here but you can PRIVATE MESSAGE anyone if they've allowed it in their profile. You'll see the option at the top of each persons post. It will say PM this person. K? If you have Instant Messenger....I'm resler41 and although I'm not usually on except in the pm sometimes (as for my 14 yr. old daughter...that would be more like 24/7)......I'll be on there tonight.
To everyone else. I'll get back in a few.....I just wanted to pop in real quick, saw Erica's post and I haven't read anything else yet. I'll "see" you all in an hour or so.
