Default Feisty & Sexy 50 & 60 Year Old #173

Someone had to do it and I guess it is my turn. Trudy has a broken nail and Maria really is working and Ann is going to flea markets and Rita really is losing. Hope your weekend was nice. See you all later,

Peggy, thanks for sharing the load with all these hard workers. We all want to have the sandwich you were talking about.

All - when I say "puppy" I mean my baby. Kassie is our 10 year-old-dog who will always be our "puppy."

Well, sounds like you all had and some like Ann are continuing to have a great Easter holiday. We all went to my sisters. She had 31 people. Ten of them were my family. It is so much fun when all the cousins and their families get together. But, I ATE. I certainly stayed away from the jelly beans--way too few calories--and went straight to the pie, the chocolate candy bars and the cakes. Therefore, I don't feel too well today. I think I am just paying for my gluttony. Oh well, we had fun!

Glenda go for the goodies. You can pay back this week. I had brunch at my nieces. We had all kinds of things. It is just nice for family to be together. Glenda I like the name Kassie. She sounds so cute and sweet. Where are the rest of you? Too much Easter? Ann what did you buy at the flea market? I want to go too. I went to one Saturday morning. I bought this wire thing that you hang on the wall for mail. It has two pouches. I put green moss in each and bought some little pansies and put them in plastic bags in the middle of the moss. I hung it on my porch. It is cute. It doesn't take much to excite me. I made this for dinner or I should say my dh did. I found the recipe and he made it while I was walking. It was good and I would make it again
Balsamic Chicken

Ingredients
2 tsp vegetable oil
3 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 large garlic clove(s), crushed
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast(s), four 4 oz pieces
2 cup mushroom(s), small, halved
1/3 cup chicken broth
1/4 tsp dried thyme, crumbled

Instructions
In a nonstick skillet, heat 1 teaspoon of oil.
In a medium bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar, the mustard and garlic.
Add chicken and turn to coat.

Transfer chicken and marinade to skillet. Sauté chicken until cooked
through, about 3 minutes on each side. Transfer chicken to a platter and
keep warm.

Heat remaining teaspoon of oil in skillet. Sauté mushrooms for 1 minute.
Add broth, thyme and remaining tablespoon of vinegar. Cook, stirring
occasionally, until mushrooms are deep brown, about 2 minutes longer.

Serve chicken topped with mushrooms.

G'day all,

I was thrown into a bit of a panic first thing this morning, the server was down again Thank goodness it is back up again.
It was great to read everyone's post. Sounds like everyone had an interesting and enjoyable Easter.
My Easter was quite hectic with our friends, tomorrow dd and husband are arriving.

I have made an appointment with a doctor today. I don't want to sound like a whinging person but I feel so exhausted all the time and I am not the best to live with at the moment , I also feel quite homesick and the thought of being here for another 6 months ...........and then what.........
I am sure it will pass again but I thought I had better have a check up because to feel so tired is just ridiculous.

Will check in later today again....
Cheers
Maria

Default Remember me???

I did try to start a new thread last night but off it went into cyber space.

Been back from vacation for a week and I think I need to go on another 0ne or maybe that is the trouble I shouldn't go on any at all.

We spent last week worrying about DH. He forgets just how old he is and tends to work like a 30 year old. So he had a bout with his heart. So far it looks like it is stress that he brings on himself by working too hard. He needs to slow down. We have all these plans for retirement and I want him alive!!!! Today he went for a Thallium Stress test we'll know the results Thursday. But it must not be life threating or I'm sure they would have done some further testing. I could be wrong. But I sure hope not. Also I am on medication again for an ear infection plus a sore throat and Pain when I breath. Vacations always do this to us I think we wont call them vacations any more . We''ll just call them breaks between working.

I have been keeping up with you all tho. You are a busy group. All of you having fun . Thats great. that is what life is all about.

Slavika is the bathroom ok now? I think I would have been more than a little upset over all that happened.

I don't remember who posted the web site on the color thing. that was great. I did all the choosing and the print out was really close to me. Kind of freaky. Even my DH agreed with it.

DD is leaving for Cancun Thursday. She is going with that friend of her's that had the gasto -by- pass last summer. You should see her she is drop dead gorgeous. Who knew? Anyway they are leaving husbands and kids to have some fun in the sun.

I did tell you all that we got that baby grandaughter didn't I She is doing beautifully and her mom is great too. Almost back to her before baby weight. Oh! to be 25 again.

We had snow again today. Won't it ever go away.

One more thing then I'll shut up. I offically gave up one of my groups last Tuesday. So now I am free mondays until 3:00. And tuesdays up untill 5:00Pm. What will I do with all that time?

Default Hi all,

We had a nice Easter day with the family. I sent most of the food home with my DD, so there aren't too many left overs.
It is nice to have you back Karen. So sorry to hear you and your DH have problems. Ear infections are so painful. I hope the results from your DH's test are good. What a worry. I am sure you will find something to do with your spare time.
Peggy Many thanks for starting the new thread.. you did a good job. That recipe looks good. I am always looking for a new way to cook chicken. You are so lucky your DH cooks.
Glenda We sure do pay a heavy price for over indulging. You will feel better tomorrow.
Oh Maria, I always think you have the most exciting life, but I can see where you want to go home already. I remember you saying that it was the home you wanted to retire in. It is good you are going to see your doctor, being fatigued is not a good thing.
Hi Slavika. What were you up to today? Anymore work done on the bathroom?

I didn't over eat yesterday, but I was still unable to fall asleep, so at midnight, I turned on the TV. A&E had a movie on called "Tea With Mussolini". I watched some of it and it looked interesting. They always repeat the movies so often I will watch it when it is on again. Cher was in the movie, and I hadn't seen her in a long while. She has had more "work" done to her face. She looked like a chipmunk with the cheek implants and her lips are so puffy that the lower lip cast a shadow on her chin and it looked like a little gotee (sp?). I think she looked so much better when she was in "Moonstruck" than she does now. I really don't know why she keeps on having these surgeries. Has anyone else seen her lately?
Joan Rivers is another woman who keeps having face lifts. She is pulled so tight her eyes are slanted upwards. She looked better before.

Well, those are all the thoughts I had today .

back again.........

I have been to the doctors and she has ordered some blood tests, she also thought it would be a good idea that I have an endoscopy. I will have to work out when I can arrange to have that done in between the visitis of our children.
She said it may well be that I have picked up some sort of virus that is making me feel the way I am but it is best to exclude any other possible causes.
Once these tests are finished than I might like to see about a bone density test as well............

Peggy the chicken sounds very nice.

Karen sorry to hear about your dh, hope he will take it a bit easier rather than thinking he can still do the work of a 30 year old Yes you did tell us about your new grand daughter, good for the Mum to be almost back to the weight before she was born. We are having another warm day again, will it ever get cool

Trudy I so agree with you about Cher and many other 'stars' that have obviously had a 'nip and a tuck'. I saw some of the photos of Liza Minelli's wedding, I would hate to think what the group spent on plastic surgeon fees, even her new husband looks like he has had a bit done!

Glenda back on track again??? I didn't do too bad over Easter though could have done better

See ya tomorrow all
Cheers
Maria

Maria - I would be very surprised if you didn't have your downtimes. I know you always put the best face on things, but your lifestyle has to sort of get to you at times, even though I know you make the most of your trips and experiences, but at a certain time in our lives, we just want to be "home". S, glad you are checking yourself out, but I bet a dose of Adelaide is what you really need.

Karen - so sorry you all came back home sick. At least it all is treatable. Your husband sounds familiar--men don't always realize they aren't quite the same as when they were 30. I see my kids with their kids and realize real quick that I am not the same as I used to be. Love being grandma, but how in the world did I do everything I used to do?

Regarding Peggy's observations of movie stars: I have a question. If you had the money and the time, is there anything you would have "done" to your body or your face, maybe just a little sprucing up? I readily admit I would have my eyes done, get rid of "some" of the wrinkly flesh under them. Anybody else?

Peggy: Thanks for taking the stress off and starting the new thread!
That recipe is good. I have made it before. Its yummy.

Glenda: I call all dogs puppies. Doesnt matter how old they are. I love them anyways. I like the name Kassie. Its very cute. No, I dont think I would ever have anything done. I wouldnt mind getting rid of some wrinkles, but I just dont think I would ever go and get it done. Never know I could change my mind but I kinda doubt it.

Maria: Let us know what the DR says. Your not whinny either. I can image you are homesick. You have been gone so long now it has to effect you.
Oh more test. The bone density test is easy. Its good you are getting the endoscopy. It's probably just a virsus and will be taken care off.

Karen: Good to see you! Sorry to hear about DH. Tell him to slow down. Keep us posted on his results to. With your free time why dont you relax and enjoy yourself. You could sure use it

Trudy: Havent seen that movie. I have seen pictures of Cher tho and you are right. She did look much better before. I dont like what she is doing to herself these days.

Rita: you will do fine on the new job. It is scary the first day. I always hated starting new jobs as you never know what to expect.

Best get going, Im suppose to be in a meeting

Trudy you are right about all the surgery. You wonder how much of all those stars is real anymore. In my opinion Joan should have her mouth sewn up. I hear Michael J is having some more done. I don't know if I would do anything or not. That Botox that the [I can picture her but can't think of her name for anything-hate it when that happens] 50's one on The View had has made her look younger. Karen it is good to hear from you. Tell your dh to slow down. Hope all the results from the test are good. Let us know. I see you are slowing down too. Hope you are feeling better. That is some nasty stuff that is going around. Maria I know that I would be homesick if I lived your life. It always sounds so glamourous to go some of the places you go. Too bad you can't be like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and click your heels together 3 times to go home. Rita good luck at the new job. It does take a while to fit in. Lily when do you go to Utah? I am going out to play in the yard. I just bought some Stella D'Oro bulbs to plant. It is supposed to rain later.

Hi Everybody
I had to go to the dentist twice yesterday and then again this morning. I am "NEARING" the end. Yesterday he screwed extensions on the implants, making the inside of my mouth look like a rod iron fence. I had to be without my partial all day yesterday and today I got it back again. He has "drilled" holes in the inside of the teeth and then that is what sits on top of the extrensions. He wants me to go like this for awhile (because he goes on holidays next week) to see if I get any sore spots. When he gets back he will put the "hardware" into the teeth and then that will snap on the implants. I bet I have told you gals more about implants then you ever wanted to know.
Maria you certainly are intitled to feel a little down every once in awhile, all of us do. When I was in Maui, which of course is beautiful........much much more beautiful then where I live, I would not want to live there for months on end, because I know I would miss my family, my home and my friends. I think sometime, if my son and family moved away from here I would be ok, because my home and friends would still be here, and that is very important. I don't much like big changes in my life. My DH often talks of us moving into a "newer" house. I would rather go through the hassle of renovating then move. (LOL LOL I can't believe I just said that, as my plumber is here now taking out the "wrong" toilet bowl and then installing the correct one.
Usually I have "tea time" on Tuesdays but I didn't know for sure if I would have to make a another trip to the dentist this afternoon and also I knew the plumber was coming.
Peggy thanks for posting the recipe, I'm always looking for something new to make. Glenda that was an interesting question. I think I would like to have my eyes done too, not under the eyes, but lift my eyebrows UP. Can you do "DAT"???

Karen sorry you and DH both got back from vacation, needing another vacation. Let us know how your DH stress test turned out, I'm sure it will be fine. The doctor's would have got him in sooner if they were overly concerned. Rita boy you are sure the lucky gal to have two doggies. I don't have any now and I sure do miss having one. You'll do fine at your new job. In a a couple of days, you will feel like you've been there forever.
Trudy I caught a peek at Cher during one of the commercials advertising the movie....not good. Carol Burnett spoiled her looks too with all the surgery she had done. I would be scared to have stuff done because even a "good" doctor can have a bad day. YIKES!
Talk to you all later.

Angry A day of rest!

Hi all: Our 'kids' are off for the day visiting relatives up in Ocala, so we have a day of r&r. Good news, my dh doesn't have to wear the elastic stockings any more, unless there should be some swelling. tomorrow he is going for another doppler test to see what has happened with this blood clot. I just believe that it will not be there any more. It certainly has had enough prayers to remove it.

I sure agree with you all about the plastic surgery. Every one of those stars look like they have a fake face. Another one is Loretta Swit. I watch the old Mash re-runs and then see her now and it is hard to believe it is the same person. Phyllis Diller was one who had lots of plastic surgery and laughed about it all the time. So somehow, it didn't seem so bad with her.

good question about what would we do. My eye doc is suggesting that I have a procedure to remove the excess eyelid. I seem to always be looking through my eyelashes. This all happened after I lost weight. I'm thinking about it, but haven't made up my mind yet. When recommended by the Dr. our Medicare will pay for it. So????

Maria: sorry you are feeling so tired. Hope your good Dr. will come to a solution. And I know that this constant moving, and no roots, has got to be hard. Especially, since you were home for a bit for the wedding. What is that saying--'This too will pass!' I think.

Peggy- Thanks for the recipe. Sounds good and we always need one low in points. You are lucky to have a dh who cooks. My dh says to me, 'don't get sick, cause we'd starve":

Karen: so sorry you came home from vacation feeling so punk, and sure hope all the tests for your dh go well. Always better to be safe than sorry. You will find a good way to put that new free time to use. Hope it is just resting.

Didn't get one glamourous thing at the flea market, but did find more of those thin plastic cutting sheets to put on your counter top. They are so handy, as you can chop, slice or whatever, and then just pick it up, bend it and pour the ingredients into what ever bowl or pan you want. And we bought a full flat of yummy strawberries for just $4.00 We are eating a lot of berries and they are so low in points.:

Glenda: We went on a dinner cruise, and I wasn't careful either, but it is a new week, and just have to get back with it. I did eat jelly beans. I love them, and only indulge this time of year.

Slavika: Glad your new bathroom is taking shape finally. I hope your plumber was into groveling a little for all the mistakes he made, when he kept saying'don't worry' no problem' That would give you a little satisfaction. :

Rita: I'm sure the new job will go just fine. Even if you are the 'new kid' you are experienced, and that will be known right off.

Will be checking back later. Ann

G'day all,

Thank you all for your kind words, I know it will pass and I will 'adjust' once again Peggy the clicking of the heels ala Dorothy would be a great solution

A bit of a spanner was thrown into the works last night, ds's partner's mother (can you follow all that!) needs a bed for a night in Sydney on the way to New Zealand, of course our dd and new husband are arriving today as well, cut a long story short the mother arrived but 30 minutes ago and is on the way to our apartment. She will walk to where I work and we will have lunch together and then tonight sleep on the couch before leaving for New Zealand first thing in the morning.
It is something that I didn't quite need at this time.

Rita you make me laugh with your description of what your dh said about fitting right in with your new job , good luck, with all your experience I am sure you will be fine. I think if you have been in the one job for some time, you take for granted what you can do and don't see them as all that special, I bet your new employer will think them pretty special.

Slavika DH and I both agree if we were to win the lottery we would never shift from Adelaide, Adelaide will always be our home where our friends and family are. Your bathroom does sound like a bit of a nightmare , I hope that it is starting to all come together now.
Are you happy with the (almost) final results of the implants?

Ann good luck with the tests, hope all is well. I would be having the eyelids done if I were you. My sister-in-law had it done for similar reasons and it was covered by insurance. she was very pleased with the results. It is one thing to have a massive face lift, but quite another to have the excess skin removed from your eyelids that has a two fold purpose, you will be able to see better and as an additional bonus look better
I think the 'fat lip' fashion is a bit over the top, I really don't like that look if you were not meant to have 'fat' lips!!!!
Last year when I was here, I was considering (very briefly ) cosmetic tatooing, it looked very impressive when they did it to show how it would look but it was a lot of money and my kids thought it was ridiculous and dh didn't care one way or the other.

I have been interupted a number of times whilst trying to write this post, I will just sent it off to cyber land before I get interupted again.

Cheers
Maria

Cool Liposuction???

When I am in aerobic class, right in front of the wall that is all mirror... I think to myself "a little liposuction on those saddlebags would bring you down 1 size"... ... but then I face reality and remember some women have died from the procedure and others have had complications, so then I head for the "thigh abductor" machine and try to work it off. I am too afraid to have surgery. As I age, I am looking more like my Mom every day that passes.
Maria Unexpected events can really throw us. It is nice of you to put the mother up, and I am sure she really appreciates it. I take it she is alone on this trip, so staying with you overnight will be a comfort. About the Endoscopy, are you having problems with your digestion/stomach?
Ann I am glad to hear your DH has improved so much. Those blood clots can be such a worry. I had forgotten about Loretta Swit, you are right, she looked much better before. I think the surgery your Dr has suggested would be good to have done, it can't be easy trying to see through your eye lashes.
Slavika.. looking good girl. Your bathroom really looks so good, once the tub is reglazed and you get the perfect curtains and towel, it will be fabulous.
Peggy.. .. you made me laugh. You are right, Joan Rivers has too much to say. I read an article where the Drs are using Botox to help Palsy patients. The Botox helps to control the shaking. Also, they are doing some research on using Botox for Migraine Headaches.

Well it has been a cold day here... not at all April weather. I keep looking for my tulips to come up, but they know better I guess. I told Slavika she should have staye home in Feb when it was so beautiful out and gone away for March.

Bye all
