Hey Women!! How is everyone today?? Life has been busy for me. Like Kim I think I'm getting a cold. Sore throat, runny nose etc So far I'm winning the war but its a heck of a battle. Tuesday night I slept 11.5 hours!!!!! Thank goodness I was working the later shift. Today I still fell beat but its off to work this morning. I've been OP all week & I feel really motivated lately I hope the scale shows it on Monday. Today I'm going to go by a month pass to the leisure center across from our apartment. I am just so tired of trying to think of fun cardio to do at home. Lately rather than try to think of something I just do nothing. I find its easy to stretch & do free weights at home but not cardio-especially when its so cold outside. I'm tired of my workout videos so I think that getting a membership is the best idea. The only thing I'm afraid of is paying for it & then not using it. That's why I'm only getting a month pass-see if I can stick to that. I'm going to go there after work today to buy it & I'm going to take my gear so that I can workout right away. Its great there because they have a cardio room, weight room, different classes like yoga, pilates, kikc boxing, boxercise, etc & then because of the pool they have Aquamotion classes & water walking etc. Another great thing is that the pass lets a passholder use any of the leisure centers in the city. Its good because each place has different classes & some offer different facilites, like an idoor track. I feel excited about it I haven't belonged to a gym for three years. Wish me luck to stay motivated
I can't remember what all you guys talked about yesterday....
Erin, nice to meet you. Thanks for jumping on in
Jess, I get spurts like that too. Not just with WW but with things like my wedding planning, finances, etc. I think that humans just tend to be very cyclical & it comes across in our habits too.
Kim, I love the Ford Explorer Another thing to think about is stability. I watched a show on SUVs last summer & they were showing how most of them tip way too easy because their center of gravity is so high. The lower it is to the ground the mosre safe it is. Apparently in most accidents involving an SUV the majority of SUVs ended up rolling when there was no reason for it to just due to the high center of gravity. They also said some were worse because the bodies were only secured to the frame by the bare minumum so it also made the tip factor higher. Anyway just somthing interesting (& useless) that I remembered. Have fun with your shopping.
Kay, I can't believe you keep track of all of that stuff! That's impressive. You must be one organized chickee! I only when TOM is coming due to the number of pills left in my birth control packet
I can't remember anything else right now. Sorry! Anyway I should scoot off to work. Take care all
Doing quite well staying OP these last few days. I wanted to join in on the SUV/vehicle conversation....
I have a new GMC Yukon and love it!!!! It is big but with two kids and a big dog (plus we pull a big trailer many times with three quads on it) it is needed!!
My DH drives a 2002 Toyota Corolla. We love it. Cheap car ($14,000) but comfortable and gets 40 miles to the gallon. Who ever (I think it was Kay) that was thinking about the Camry, I would get one in a second!!!
Well, it is Thursday, almost the weekend! I am busy at work, getting packed up. My University just built a new 19 million dollar student union and my new office is in it!! So, I move in a week. Trying to throw out a ton of papers that I have had for years.
Well, I don't think I am pg. I tested last night (12 dpo) and it came up negative. I also have a bit of spotting (TMI I know!) and cramping. I figure if I still don't get full on af and my temps don't drop in the next couple of days, I'll test again.
Rina ~ I guess I am a fairly organized person. I decided to try the charting just so I would know my body better and because I can't take the pill (makes me moody and gain weight). It really is easier than it sounds. If you can get in the habit of taking a pill each day, then taking temps is no problem. I just have one of those memory thermometers so I take the temp in the morning and DH writes it in my notebook at night. I figure it gives him some of the responsibility in the process and makes us feel like we're in this together. You should read Taking Charge of Your Fertility if you are interested in learning more about cycles. Its a great book that all women should read.
Anyway ~ I'm off to do a project.
Today I'm making crock pot chicken gyros, so I'll tell you all if they are good!
HI all... Same old here. I am wearing too tight pants because all my pants are too big and I am wearing a size smaller now. Oh well, I will make it through the day. The only thing I really hate is that they are super short because they are tight. UGHHH!
I have been counting all week and so on top of my points. I have been able to bank points the last 3 days to make up for my horrible weekend. I am so proud of myself!
Hey Kay, post that recipe if it turns out. I LOVE GYROS! I had one last week and it was super high in points.
Oh and I would also buy a Camery!! I used to work with someone that had one and I loved riding with her because her car was soo cushy!
OK, back to work... We are supposed to get a nasty storm today and tonight and I have tickets to the Theatre, so I am not happy. They are expensive tickets and I really want to see the show.
The board sure has been quiet this week. Where the heck is everyone?
Not much going on here, just taking a much-deserved break from working. I've been busy the last couple of days--it's been manageable, but I sure wish they wouldn't work me so hard.
Rina--That leisure center by your apartment sounds really nice! My gym is only a bunch of lousy machines...
Kay--How do you chart like that? I'd really like to learn to do that, just so I know what's going on in my body, but could never figure out how...
Tonya--Good job staying OP all week! I wish I had an office, I just have a little padded cell (cubicle).
Kay--Yes, you'll definitely have to share the recipe for your chicken gyros. I, too, love gyros (of course, I better be careful eating them, don't want my WW leader making a comment again about my gyro eating... ).
Jen--Hey, when you figured out how many points your gyro was last week, how did you figure it? I had a heckuva time figuring mine last week and would like to know what someone else gets.
OK, I better get my nose back to the grindstone. I'll check back later, OK?
Jess, I use WW e-tools and looked it up on there. I had absolutely no clue, so I figured that was closer than I could guess. It said 15 for a normal sized one. YIKES huh!
4/5 skinless bonless ck thighs (about a lb.)
one sliced onion
one minced garlic clove
1/2 tsp. of oregano
1 1/2 tsp. of lemon pepper
1/4 tsp. of all spice
mix this together and put in a crockpot on low for 6 to 8 hours.
after that, remove the ck and shread with a fork.
mix 1 small (8 oz.) plain yogurt container with the onion and garlic mix.
chop up tomatoes and cukes
heat pita bread
place some ck and some of the yogurt mixture in the pita with tom and cukes.
The recipe makes about 4 sandwiches. I'll tell you how it tasted tomorrow....
Slow day today!
Jess,
I chart by taking my temp in the morning and writing it down in a notebook. I also keep track of when I get AF. After I have a couple months worth of data, I put it into Excel and draw a graph. Some women use an actual chart-thingy and keep track of a lot of other things. The book I mentioned earlier tells you how to do it. If you are confused just ask! I've been doing this now for a year and only get thrown off every once in a while.
Hi gals! Kay, Jess, Jen, Tonya, Rina! Where's everyone else!
Well, I just test drove an Escape during lunch. It drove very nicely, and I felt pretty comfortable in it. I think that's one of the front runners now. I'm glad to hear you like yours, Stacey. I like the way so much stuff comes standard, like a CD player. Do you have a 4x4? What I'd like is a 4x4 with a V6 engine.
Tomorrow I'm heading to the Nissan and Volkswagon dealers.
I'm back again I had a super slow day at work so I called it quits early. I stopped & had a smal sub for lunch (YUM!) and then drove to the leisure centre. I tell you girls it was so hard to go in. I sat in the car & argued with myself for 15 minutes. There were so many hot guys going in & I was like I look like a next to those fit people. I kept thinking things like everyone was going to look down on me & think I was ridiculous for trying to even get fit when I'm so obese. It was terrible but somehow I made myself look at all of the positive things that come from exercise & I took time to think about my goals & what I really want. And since when have I ever cared about what other people think of me? Then I reminded myself that it will never be harder than it is now & that's the truth no matter when I started. It only gets easier when you get over the hard part. So in the end I went in & I filled out all of the paper work, changed & stepped into the cardio room & went to work YAY VICTORY!!! : ) I worked out on the Reebok Trec for 20 minutes (its like a cross country kind of machine) & I felt pretty good. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my water bottle so I was feeling dehydrated near the end but the workout was good Most nights they offer orientation on the weight machines so one of these nights I'm going to go & to that because you burn so many more calories when you include weight training. I'm psyched I know my 20 minutes today probably sounds piddly to you regular exercisers but for me its a HUGE step. Tomorrow I was planning to go to an aquamotion class but it conflicts with my massage so I guess I'll go do cardio again. I feel a little tired right now but I also feel very proud of myself. And you know what? The people were all very nice & no one gave me any weird looks or anything & once inside I only saw one hot guy working out so it wasn't even that intimidating I'm looking forward to tomorrow already
Kim, sounds like the escape has lots of goodies! I LOVE VW Beetles!! Both the old ones & the new ones. One day I'm going to own a new one. When I was 15 my Dad bought me an old one for $200! I never got to drive it though because my Dad sold it after I didn't bother to get my license until I was 18. He made a nice profit on it but I was sad.
Jen, good work on the smaller size! I dream of those days...
Kay, your gyros sound tasty. I hadn't ever heard of a gyro until you all started talking about them on here one time.
Jess, sorry to hear work is bogging you down. Only a couple more days then its the weekend
Tonya good luck on your move! Hope it isn't too much work.
Where oh where is everyone else? Come out & play girls!
Kim: I don't have 4x4, but I have the XLT V8, etc. I opted for a tape/CD player and I wanted a moon roof. I love it! The price difference from an Escape and Explorer is amazing!!! I didn't have any problems on the ice and snow this season, either. I like the get up and go. The Escape won't pull a big trailer, but it will pull a pop up and I believe a boat...not sure. We got the towing package in case we ever decide to get a pop-up camper.
Hi to everyone else!! I'm going to walk my doggie now!
