Tina, when I was going to the Y before, I must have been hitting it at the right time, because most of the people were closer to my age, and there were some who were my size or larger. I plan to hit the mornings from now on. When I went on Monday, it was after school, so there were several high school students and other young whipper-snappers in there. As for the fancy clothes, that isn't the case. Most of them were wearing shorts or capris and t-shirts. That's about as fancy as it gets here in the sticks!! lol
I was on the go all day yesterday, and I'm hoping to not be that busy today!! Even with staying busy, I did remember to make wise choices with what I was eating yesterday. Also did some walking and drank water. |
Hi all,
Kelly, how are you doing today? You mentioned wearing a small size before the baby. I've never worn a size 4--a size 8 was more like it. Dori, how is school? Do you take healthy snacks with you? Susan, how are you feeling? Are your students getting tired during the day--not being used to school? Tammy, That's funny about living in "the sticks." :) I think it's stupid to "dress up" to sweat but people do that. Bravo on drinking your water and walking. Yesterday I walked 20 minutes and the day before that I did 15 min. I'm slowing getting back into it. Larry had his evaluation at the rehab place today. He'll be going twice a week for physical and occupational therapy. He feels so much better now. We just wish the hand numbness would go away completely. He can feel shapes now. that's an improvement. I need to drink lots more water. :flow1: |
Hi,
Hope everyone had a great day. I went for my allergy shots today and they asked me about my break. I told them I was sick and the virus I had I ended up taking the 2 and 1/2 days of antibiotics. I thought I was going to get beat!!!!! The nurse said "Oh Honey don't do that again. You need to be on it for at least 10 days because now the infection is just dormant and might come back." She went off to see the nurse practitioner and came back with samples and a prescription. She said "Now take these" The nurse practitioner came around the corner and waved for me to come back. She is really sweet. She said "next time CALL ME, you don't want it to come back and be stronger." So I guess I was in trouble :( I worked out with my new trainer. I love her. We did pilates and yoga. Let me say "It was hard work." School is going good. The kids are happy to be back. But they are starting to get tired. |
Tina, I feel like we live in the sticks because we have to drive a bit to get anywhere. I do like small town living though. Good for you for getting back into the habit! I told Bob last night to push me out of the house this morning about 8 to go to the Y. I have to get into that habit again. My goal for the new year is to go to the Y at least 3 days a week.
So glad to hear that Larry is feeling better!!! It has to be so frustrating about the numbness, but even that is better. I remember how frustrating it was for me before my carpal tunnel surgery. I even mentioned to bob last night how glad I was that I had the surgery for my right hand. Now I wish I would have done the left one also, but it wasn't as bad as the right. Susan, it sounds like you did get into trouble there!! Shame on you!!! I think many of us do that same thing though. Glad the new trainer is working out! Maybe I'll just drive down and work out with you. Ha! I'm waiting till I change to go to the Y to get weighed this morning. I know I'll be upset if I'm not down anything. I feel like I've really been working at it. |
Still having a bit of a hard time here. I really don't know what's going on. I want to lose the weight and follow the plan, but generally have a hard time. I guess I need to take baby steps. *sigh*

Hi,
Get this..... Pat fussed at me for the antibiotics too when I mentioned it to him last night. I think they ALL need to mind their own business and let me treat myself :D School was good. I'm glad it's almost Friday. Next week is exam week. I don't give them and try to keep a normal schedule well as much as possible. Dori, pick just one thing that you want to concentrate on.... drinking your water, exercising, or if it's just making sure you eat breakfast. Then once you have that under your belt for a while, then go to the next thing. Tammy, I live out a little too. Once I'm home, I'm not getting back out. Good for you for going to the gym. Tina, how are you Darlin? I'm glad that Larry is doing better. |
Dori, slow and steady is the game but it can be SO frustrating when you want to see results quickly. I was sitting and thinking that if I could just lose 1 pound a week, I'd be down quite a bit by the end of the summer. Possibly even to what I want to weigh. I need to keep with it!!
Susan, lol to Pat and the antibiotics! I did go to the Y yesterday morning, but then I had trouble sleeping last night because my back hurt. Makes me want to give up. I was using the same machines that I used for therapy for my back, so I don't get it. Not much happening here today. Naps are always good!! |
Hi everyone - I'm hoping you have room for more in this fun group? ;)
This is my first week on WW - I'm doing flex since there are "forbidden" foods on the Core. If you tell me I can't have it - I'm going to want 10! :D |
Welcome to cdonley!!!!!!!! We always have room for more!! Glad to have you join us.
Right now I am not attending WW meetings. I have been journaling my foods online. I'm watching calories and fat grams. Not doing the WW points at this time. Just trying to make wiser decisions when it comes to eating. Keep coming here and posting your thoughts, concerns, and ask questions. If we don't know the answer, we are really good at making up things!!!! lol Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Yesterday I took a nice walk with the sun shining, and today it has been yucky with rain and some snow. I liked yesterday better. |
Hi All,
Welcome to the group cdonley! Like Tammy said.... if we don't know something we will just make it up :D We are do have fun. I just got home from seeing PS I Love You. It was good. It is a little different from the book. I love the book and have read it several times. I read it several years ago. I'm a little tired.... went with Pat to play last night. So now I'm sitting here under a blanket with a fire going and watching the football game. Hope I don't fall asleep. However, I will be going to bed EARLY. |
It's my turn---cdonley, welcome to the group!
I'm with you, I have to do flex. I need the structure of knowing how many points I can eat. Good luck. We are always here for each other. Susan, I haven't seen that movie. Wow, I haven't been to a theater in months. Before Larry got bad (first part of last month), we just hadn't seen anything worth going to see. We watched the last part of the Dallas game. I was hoping they would pull it out. :( Tammy, yuck to bad weather. Good for you, taking a walk yesterday. Dori, are you taking "baby steps?" Remember just one day at a time. Kelly, how are you doing? I blew my flex points tonight. It was fun. We passed a KFC and went back and bought chicken!!!!! Greasy chicken! I will be better tomorrow. Larry is feeling stronger every day. We are ready for the numbness to go away, though. Tomorrow afternoon, he goes to see the head rehab doctor for a check-up. :flow1: |
Susan, I haven't seen the movie or read the book. Maybe I should do that sometime. I think we should all go watch Pat play sometime.
I started a book before Christmas, and I haven't finished it yet. I'm trying to catch up on magazines. I get Arthritis Today and Fibromyalgia Awareness. I always try to read everything in those to make sure I'm doing things right and to get new ideas to help me out. I also will buy the WW magazine, and I have to read everything in that. And sometimes when I'm standing in line at the checkout, I'll grab a magazine that looks interesting. OH! I also subscribe to Positive Thinking magazine. I just saw my new one on the table. Melissa and I are doing a study where we read the Bible in one year, so I'm doing that plus a mini-Bible study. I also have Devotional books for morning and for evening. I think I'm trying to do too much. Tina, lol to KFC. sometimes it just tastes good, doesn't it? We ate Mexican yesterday afternoon, and it was delicious. Glad to hear that Larry is feeling stronger. Sure helps you feel better too, doesn't it?? Heading to the Y in about an hour. I'll check out the 7:00 crowd and see how it is. |
Newbie here too :-)
Hi ladies, I was hoping to join your new group as well, looking for a nice chatty bunch and you looked just the picture ;);)
I did a rejoin last week, I got to the meetings and following points for now, as it is summer here and school hols there are quite a few bbq's and improptu dinners etc that I need to be abel to account for. I have been a member for years but faded in and out and lost touch with the ladies that I used to chat with. Makes it a bit difficult being in different time zones as if I don't post in the morning you ahve all gone to bed. Anyway my name is Nikki so lovely to meet you all.. |
Nikki--:welcome: We are so happy you found us.
Not to worry about when you post. We post at different times of the day. I'm sometimes on late at night! Wow, I'd love to be down there with you for summer. :D I'm not a cool/cold weather person. Would you tell us a little about where you live! What's your favorite fruit? I love peaches and have to get the frozen ones now. I hope everyone has had a good day. Larry went to see the main rehab doctor (from the hospital). The dr. told him he was doing too good. Usually, people with such major surgery don't come back so fast. That was nice to hear. We just want his hands to de-numb! Larry is more patient than me. :) :flow1: |
Hi Tina, thanks for the welocme, do you know I have never heard frozen peaches, do you buy them in the supermarket, like the frozen berries? I live in Auckland, New Zealand, at the moment we are right in the middle of summer, and although it is nice and warm it is not unbearably hot and never gets to really high temps, I am not sure how to convert the celsius but is around 25c during the day. Our winters are OK and it doesn't snow in Akl but it sure does rain a lot!!
The nectarines, plums and peaches are lovely at the moment, I love all those things but cherries would be me absolute favourite I think, I love Xmas when you get to eat lots of them !!! Second would be a tie between strawberries and watermelon. Your Larry sounds like he is doing well, I once did something to my back, maybe a nerve or something and I was stuck on the floor and couldn't move, it really makes you realiseif you don't ahve your health you have nothing. My father had huge problems with his sciatica nerve and got very sad, so it is nice to hear that he is on the mend so well !!! Is nearly lunchtime here I am at work, best I go and do some work :-) |
