Hi all! Just a quick note to let you know that they made it to Toronto with no problems!! Tim called earlier to let us know. The band had practice tonight about 9:00. They are probably still practicing as I type. I'll check in tomorrow and read posts.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Tina, a few weeks ago it was below freezing at night and in the morning and would get to high 30s-low 40s. This week has been much warmer! It's 61 outside right now at 3pm. The super cold (for here anyway) lasted for about 3 weeks. Not sure how long this warm streak will be, we usually get about 3 months of freezing our booties off.

It's funny how I think 30s is bitter cold when I lived in Buffalo for 3 winters...(Texas though the first 17 years of my life.)

I hope your hubby has a smooth recovery.

I finally weighed myself this morning - ack! - anyway, not so bad as I thought - I was at 156.4. I thought for sure I was going to be 160 again. I am filling out my 10s/12s :( Where did that size 4 go before I had my kiddo!!

auntie 01-04-2008 06:09 PM

I am glad Tim made it there safely. I'll have the game on tomorrow so tell Tim to wave :)

auntie 01-04-2008 06:12 PM

Kelly,
Tina and I are both from Texas. If Lil Sis ever post she is too. That's my little sister.

I'm just north of Dallas and i am ready for spring already.

Tammy 01-04-2008 08:46 PM

Susan, I can understand about not bugging Pat to go to the doctor. I keep thinking about Amy and crew getting home on Sunday and going back to school the next day. I'd want a day of rest first.

Tina, what a wonderful report about Larry!!!!!!!! Keep us posted on how he is doing.

Welcome to Kelly!! I was in Las Vegas once, and that was in 1987. BT = Before Tim (our son)

Dori, I need to make that soup.

We've had a heatwave today! 30 degrees!!! After 5 yesterday, it was great!!

Tim called a while ago. He and Lauren went to the National Hockey League Hall of Fame. He is a big hockey fan. He even got to touch the Stanley Cup. He has a picture of that. He said he got to meet a very nice and polite Toronto police officer. I thought, OH NO! I guess he was taking the truck somewhere, turned right on red, and the officer pulled him over. He told Tim that at most intersections, you aren't allowed to turn right on red between certain hours of the day. Tim didn't see the sign I guess. Anyway, he told the officer that he was transporting things for the Ball State band, had never been to Toronto before, etc. The officer checked his license, insurance, and registration. He finally came back to the truck, told Tim to have a nice day! No ticket!! Relief!!

I hope they show some of the band during the game. I know Tim will have on khaki pants (shorts?) and a black band staff shirt. I told him to wave and tell me hello if he's close to a camera. lol

My goal is to get started with my good eating habits and hit the Y on Monday. I need to go pay my fee for 2008. I'm getting a single membership with the cardio room. Bob doesn't want a membership this year.

auntie 01-04-2008 09:44 PM

Tammy, I talked to Amy a little while ago and they were pretty far. They drove 12 hours today, so tomorrow they will have less than 6 hours to drive. She said the kids were being good but ready to be home.

I'm glad that the police was nice enough to let Tim off. That's cool that he got to touch the Stanley cup.

I've done something to my knee. It hurts (not the one with the replacement) but my calf is hurting too. I hope I didn't do anything to it. I just took Advil.

Tina 01-05-2008 07:54 PM

I watched most of the football game but never saw Tim. :(:(:(
It's bad that they don't show the halftime.

Tammy 01-05-2008 08:49 PM

Susan, hope your knee is better soon! My left ankle is swollen and hurting. I think it's the rainy weather and arthritis.

Tina, I was a bit disappointed with the coverage of the game. Lots of shots of the Rutgers crowd and band. Very little of Ball State. That Ray Rice is a good player, but I think focusing on his mother in the crowd so often was a bit much.

Some of the Ball State players live on the floor where Tim will be an RA starting tomorrow when they get back. He called at 5 to say everyone was loaded and they were ready to pull out of Toronto. The other driver (Amy) went out to the truck at halftime to sleep, so she'll be driving the first leg of the trip. Tim will sleep (hopefully) while she is driving before it's his turn. They should be back in Muncie by 6:00 in the morning. Tim will be able to get into his dorm since he's an RA, but the rest of the kids who don't live in apartments will camp out in the music building until the dorms open at 9:00. Classes start on Monday.

I'm taking Tim's stuff over after church tomorrow. His car is over there, but we didn't want him leaving everything in the trunk, especially the computer. Not sure what other kids did.

We are officially leaving Ohio on Jan. 29. We have reservations made for a couple nights on our way to Jekyll Island. Driving straight through is a thing of the past. I need to make reservations for 2 or 3 nights in Tampa after we leave Disney the end of Feb. so we can visit Bob's brothers and their families, then reservations for a couple nights on the way home. We'll be home a day or two before Tim gets here for spring break. He's flying to GA on Feb. 21 and he'll head back to Indy on the 24th.

Well, I need to go do some reading. I've started reading the Bible in a year. I need to get into the habit of doing it when I get up in the morning, but that hasn't happened yet because I'm usually still so dopey from one of the meds. Many people think that I'm dopey without the meds!!!!

katierakel 01-07-2008 10:47 AM

Awesome, Tim is in band? I was in ASU's marching band back in 1995-1997 and it's so rare that they actually show the bands on TV even during bowl games.

Tina 01-07-2008 10:55 AM

Good morning,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm afraid that I really overdid it yesterday. I do not want to use my flex points but think I ate all 35 of them!

Kelly, is it hard doing WW on your own? I did the online WW for a little while but wasn't impressed. If I want to pay, I'd rather go to meetings where I can actually interact with others.

Tammy, did Tim get back okay? I hope you are feeling better.

Susan, how are you feeling??? I hope better since this is your first day back at school.

Dori, what's up with you?

Maureen, how is your weather? Any roller blading?

:flow1:

Not much happening this way for me. Trying to get on track and stay on track. Last week was spent trying to get back into the swing of things and I honestly shouldn't have tried to start back. So I chose today to start back and I'm doing good so far.

Today was the first day back for students and they are off the hinges. AHHH!!!! I'll be so glad when 3:20 comes. My next class starts today so I will be very busy for the next 8 weeks. It seems as though I always have something going.

Tammy 01-07-2008 01:33 PM

Kelly, Tim was in the band last year in the percussion section. They cut back from 45 to 30, and he was cut this year. He ended up still working with the band as an equipment manager/truck driver/first aid dude/etc. He enjoyed that position, but last night he said he doesn't think he'll do it next year. If he is an RA next year, he really won't have the time to devote to band since he isn't a music major.

Tina, that's what those flex points are for, right??? I didn't think I'd like the online WW either. I know that I should go to meetings for the accountability. Maybe I'll rejoin when we get back from GA, or maybe I'll join TOPS. It's much cheaper, and I could still do the WW plan.

Tim got back into Muncie about 4:30 yesterday morning. They had to go to the music building and unload the truck, then return the truck to the rental place. I think he finally got to sleep about 7:30. I went over about 2 and took him and his gf out for a late lunch. They were both tired. When I took them back to the dorms, I told them both to go get some sleep. They both had 8:00 classes this morning.

He did his first official RA duty last night. Quiet hours start at 11:00. Some of the guys on his floor were still a bit rowdy about midnight so he went down and asked them to quiet down a bit. One guy got upset wondering who this kid was telling them to be quiet. Tim thought he'd have problems, but the other guys there were from the football team, and they told the kid that Tim was the new Ra, that's he is cool, and to leave him alone. Big sigh of relief from Tim!! lol

I'm not hurting so much today, but I'm feeling queasy. I don't know what the deal is. I ate some toast a while ago, and I am feeling a little better. I might go ahead and go to the Y for a while. I need to get into that habit again!!

Dori, today was my day to get started again too. I feel for you with the students coming back after a break. I do not miss that! I also don't miss having to take classes anymore. Have I mentioned that I'm really enjoying retirement??? lol

auntie 01-07-2008 09:40 PM

Hi,
I'm finally sitting down for the evening. I met with the new trainer. I really liked her. We are going to take it month by month. She had me use this roller thing and lay my legs on it. I moved so it was putting my weight on it. She said it helps find where you have knots at and it helps release them. I found several of them. She said since I have knee problems that I probably have a bunch. I'm going to meet with her on Mon and Wed.

I got back on track today too. I am doing it this time!!!! I think I've said that before but I am!!!!!!!

School was good. I missed my kids and I'm not sure who was happier to see each other me or them.

Tammy 01-07-2008 10:09 PM

Susan, I'd like to roll my body to find lumps!! Glad to hear you liked your new trainer!! I'm sure the kids missed you bunches too!!

I did ok foodwise today especially since I didn't feel so good this morning. I did end up going to the Y and worked on the machines in the cardio room. Didn't do the bike or treadmill because that room was filled with skinny people. Couldn't bring myself to walk in there. I did take Kramer for a walk when I got home. He was happy!!

Busy day tomorrow. I know I'll be eating lunch out, but I know I can make good choices there.

Tina 01-08-2008 12:15 PM

Hi all,
Susan, glad you had a good day back at school.
Tammy, I'm sorry you've felt yucky. I think one reason I don't join a gym is because of the skinny people in there. And, I don't have those fancy, skinny clothes to wear, either. :)
