Default I have been doing awful - Question ?

i have been doing awful- i am ashamed of myself. I just havent been driven enough to put in the effort. But I am NOW. I am new to being married - so I havent been used to or sure about how to go about cooking healthy stuff for the 2 of us. Not sure he'd like what I maybe eatting -

Anyways what I have decided to do - Is to make a fresh /shame free new start as of this Coming Monday -

I wanna be prepared so i am compiling a list in advance of the points certain dinners we have will be for me. And adjusting accordingly.

We live paycheck to paycheck right now - so it is difficult to sometimes buy the healthier stuff - and Have to make the most of what we have.

Right now our freezer is Packed with Chicken (boneless skinless breasts YEA !!!!) & Pork Chops

I am over at Calorie King trying to make this list - But having the hardest time figuring out how many points the pork chops I have are ...

How do you know if it is Center Cut , blade cut yada yada yada

HELP PLEASE

Hang in there. My DH didn't like my meals when we first got married and he was 6' and 160 lbs. Now that he is at 185, he has no complaints.

In general I try to cook normal meals. I serve DH and the kids the bread, meat, salad, veggie portions and me just the meat, veggie, and salad portions.

For example. If I cook steak, potatoes, and salad. I cut my steak into strips and put it on top of my salad. If I cook tacos. I get 1/4 cup of meat over salad and add some beans while they have tacos with cheese and meat. I stopped cooking spaghetti... but that is a different story.

I found this at the 3fc food counts page - it shows ww points too!

http://www.3fatchicks.com/food-calor...food/10856/0/0

You can find the calories and nutritional info for many different foods on this thread, just click on the category and then on the product of choice.

Hope this helps!

I do the exact same thing and my husband has never complained . We had tacos last night and I made a big salad with some meat and beans on top and he said "whoa!! I wish I was having a salad instead!" LOL I still make spaghetti but I use whole wheat noodles and cook a chicken breast alongside... He eats a big pile of it and I measure out half a cup and it's all good . We all eat the same things just the boys usually eat a bigger carb portion and I eat a bigger veggie portion. We all eat whole foods now and they like it too. My husband was really resistant at first but he's learning that a little whole grain won't kill him and he's starting to like it.

Since I started eating whole wheat pasta, I can't stand "regular" pasta. It tastes (and feels in my mouth) like paste! Hubby loves it too!

See that is what I plan on doing. I figure it is the best way to learn how to eat properly for the long run. I dont wanna make special things - I wanna make thing I normally would be eatting - of course with a few adjustments - such as whole wheat pasta ( which I have not tried yet) . . . . Anyone have any point/portion info on that ? ? ? ?

I guess because we just moved in together - and I have never done the WIFE thing - where I made dinners every night - it was exciting for me - and I got carried away and was just eatting more then I should and only half heartedly watching what i used to cook with - I did end up getting I can't believe its not butter and stopped making fried potatos ....
But I wanna get dedicated again - I was happy when I was faithfully OP -I am Not happy now. It makes me feel good to eat right and feel like I am being good to myself -

So Monday I am gonna start -

What do guys do in regards to Pot Roast - isnt it ALOT of Points ?

I try not to make special food for myself. Whatever I make for my husband and kids, I eat as well. I just eat less (or portion it). I also modify recipes a lot. So for pot roast, I would add more veggies and eat little less meat.

My first week on WW, I bought "special" food. Then I'd hoard it and get irritated if anyone else ate it. (Maybe I was just irritated from being hungry?) At first, I felt like WW was making me psycho about food since I was thinking about it all the time (what I ate, what I can eat, what I will eat next, etc.) After a while, I realized that it's not "special diet" food but healthier food.

I should buy only good-for-you food and everyone in the family should eat it. I'm blessed with kids and a hubby that likes veggies, so I don't have a problem there. Summer helps too because you can get so many different fresh veggies.

Have you thought about trying a different new veggie each week? You can get some good deals if you have a local farmers market near you.

That is a great Idea - about a Veggie every week. I always have a problem since there is only 2 of us ... that if I buy broccoli & Brussel Sprouts or cauliflower or whatever - then they go bad because I never have a chance to cook them all. But If I bought one type a week and cooked it with every meal - that is a Fabulous Idea. I am also worried he would get sick of the same thing all the time - But like this that would be great

thanks Love it

I made Pot roast this past Saturday -

I plan on using that meat to make tacos tomorrow.

Normally I go all out - 2 tacos ... packed with meat, beans, sour cream, avocado and the veggies ..... Plus rice and a side of beans

UGH !!!!!!!!!!

So My plan is to limit the meat - a table spoon of beans on each one - pack on the lettuce and Onion and tomato - just a taste of sour cream -
No avocado ..... No side of beans - and no rice.

That has got to be better !!!!

I can do this. I am gonna do this.

Our 1 year anniversary is in September .... I am gonna lose weight before then

I saw a great idea about the low carb La Tortilla tortillas on this board (I forgot who listed it but the thread was about great 2 point or less snacks). I had to make it after I read about it. Get some black bean salsa, fat free sour cream, grill or cook up some veggies (peppers, onions, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots), about a tablespoon of meat, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and put it all in there. By the time you have all that, they are huge and two will fill you up easily.

If you read the boxes, you can get a Rice-a-roni mix of spanish/mexican rice for not many points. Omit any butter or margarine when you make it.

Depending how you count your points, this could be very low. I'm an Engineer and very detailed (read, nerd here) so I track my points on an Excel spreadsheet. 0 point things aren't really 0 points in my world. All those .3 and .4 points can add up to a lot! But in all, I can get a good, BIG dinner for 5 points or so.

Watch out for the tortillas though. They are HIGH in fiber, which is good, but you can pay for it in the bathroom the next day if your body isn't used to it. I usually limit myself to 2. I feed the family the regular tortillas or taco shells.
