  • Lauren: No, I don't make my own sauerkraut, way too much trouble. The sauerkraut actually enhances the pepper and the brine. They're pretty tasty and my DH loves 'em. I'm thinking my son has played Word Whomp before and has gotten me in a game...if I'm right it IS pretty addicting!

Lala: I'd love to visit Germany! My mom & dad went there a number of years ago and loved it. Someday I'll make it overseas but not in the near future. DH is heading to Wales in November for rugby. As a tradeoff he usually brings me back something really nice. I have a wonderful tea set from Ireland

Katie: Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing and I know it'll show later on. It's just hard when you know you've been more aware and you don't see the scale moving in that direction. But heck, it's not like it was a massive gain

Patch: *sigh* I don't have a green thumb either...most of my plants die fairly quickly. I generally go out and buy the tomatoes & peppers from a local farmer or else get them from the garden if we have a good year.

    Have a good evening everyone!

    Melissa
  • Hi all.

I hope kt's wi went okay. I'm sorry melissa's was up at wi, but its miniscule. You did great last week and you'll do great next week.

word whomp sounds excellent. I'm glad I don't have a fast internet connection at home or a really nice computer. Come to think of it, we don't even have a microwave. How strange is that?

i'm all for the recipe w/sauerkrat. I love it, it just doesn't love me.

laurel: ooh, a receptionist, that would be cool and motivating. Maybe kt can answer the question? do the receptionists get to check each scale to see if they are the same or not?

patch:i'm not a road warrior, I travel a couple of times a year for work, about one month's worth. The rest of the time, my travel is to see friends, family and other things. DP and I have no real addictions (other than travel), so we spend our money on that.

okay, given a load of stuff to do and need to prioritize.

    lala
  • Good morning!

Well, I was up another .4 last night - I figured as much - at least I'm still in my personal goal range.

lalala - regarding the scale question - that is so funny because I check EVERY week to see if our two scales at the meeting weigh me the same. They are always the same - many members ask & I can honestly tell them our scales are in sync. I have always been obsessed with the number on the scale, so I feel it's my responsibility to make sure the scales are in proper "weight alignment."

Still cooler & rainy here today... I feel the coming of fall.

    Later ladies,
  • Hey there. I'm having a tough day at work and hubby now is working late (again). I'm in a whiny mood and just want to put it out there that I don't want to indulge just because I'm upset.
  • Patch: I can totally relate! Last evening was stressful and this morning wasn't any better and my urge was to munch my way through it...I have to admit though that I did succumb to munching on some Lay's potato chips but rather than stay up and be tempted to munch some more I went to bed and read my book, Thin for Life. This morning I made it to work early and started my morning off with a 30-minute walk. I despise days like this....grrr.

I do feel better knowing I've already gotten my walk in today and the fact that I could've eaten a lot more of those darn chips. The bad part was that I wasn't even hungry!

Let's hope the day gets better

    Melissa
  • good morning gal-pals,

    summer hours day off, yay.

kt I wanted to know about the weekly self-weighing too, as a receptionist. Because you remember that is my little grouse as a lifetimer - not getting weekly weighings and my home scale is not super accurate. Meanwhile, no one has called me yet.

4H fair was lots of fun, great food. we always go to the same place, the Baptist church's booth. He gets a fried fish sandwich (last year I had it too and AFTERWARDS looked it up in the points book - a fried fish fillet is something like 17 points - what a shock) and I get their delicious BBQ chicken and then to the fire department for corn. And the 4Her's ice cream cone booth this year was not serving our favorite local ice cream; instead a different local ice cream that I'm not too crazy about (never thought I'd say such words) so...Your buddy PASSED on the ice cream!!!! GO LAUREL GO!!!

Then the patting of the sheep, cows, rabbits, etc. And then seeing Richie Havens for a while in concert. Fun.
  • gosh, golly whiz, i must be having network problems today...

    hi dahlinks,

nothing much going on here, I'm happy to report that fact ,no houseguests while we are actually here and thank goodness its cool and partly grey.

today is my hump day, I'm working this weekend so I don't have to take leave for next week. I'm sort of hoarding it so I don't have to take too much LWOP in October.

So, Patch: I understand your frustration. DP is often much later than I coming home, typically when we are having guests, this frustrates me to no end, since she could have come in to work a little earlier if she only planned ahead. She has a pretty flexible work schedule, so I just don't know. Hopefully, you can talk about your concerns w/him and its good to vent to us!

Laurel: good self control. gosh knows where that fried fish came from. Did you see any cute goats? I love goats. I also love the grange exhibits, I'm always looking at others canned delights for inspiration.

kt: fall is definitely on its way, though very few tomatoes are ripe here. Yesterday's dog run involved a fleece jacket and there was definitely a nip in the air. All those fall bloomers still make me a bit sad- crysanthemums and kale, sigh, soon it'll be halloween candy.

Melissa: good for you, you got your walk in! I haven't really been to germany in 10 years or so, my uncle lives there and they come here alot. I'm going to be in the frankfurt/manheim region, hopefully give a lecture at my cousin's institute or something. DH is a rugby player, fan or coach?

okay, my stupid routine is done and i can start the fun part of my day, data gridding.

    lala
  • Hi gang! I actually got a second walk in today! Woohoo! My lunch date ended up having something come up so I ended up getting a nice 30-minute walk in...of course that will counteract the onion rings I succumbed to (that are now talking back to me, lol).

lala: DH still plays...he's a 44-year old who likes to give the young guys a run for their money, lol. Actually, he really enjoys the game and has played since he was 18. I keep telling him it's getting close to the time to "hang up the boots" but then someone comes along and tells him how good he is and they can't believe he's as old as he is! My oldest son has gotten into the game by being a touch judge, much more safer in my opinion, where he judges the sidelines. I'd be a wreck if he were out on the field as well. It's a pretty exciting game to watch.

Katie: You can tell fall is just around the corner, the clouds look different, the nights are getting cooler and all the winter stuff is out in the stores. I noticed in the card store the other day they have halloween and Thanksgiving cards out already! Nothing like rushing the seasons!
  • melissa: glad you got out for your second walk.

ah, just had a day from heckola. Lots of running around, getting data ready for a meeting and then having the principal investigator decide he wants to do it another way.

    sigh.

oh, well, at least I still get paid .

have a great weekend ladies, I'll be here at work and doing the data crunching polka.

    lala
  • Hi guys,
just got into work, can you believe it, I am making myself stay for a few hours, I gotta finish this stupid proposal.

Spent last night at the bookstore getting a new paris guide. DP picked up a moroccan cookbook and some of the recipes look great. I'm going to try a stuffed tomato w/zuchinni tomorrow night, so if its any good, its getting posted.

I am overwhelmed with larger zuchinni. yikes. I have a zucchini brownie recipe I could try and convert to be point-friendly, but i'm not sure it'll work. If so, would you all like it?
Went to a wine case sale atcolumbia winery today, yikes, we bought three cases of white, two really nice one and one, I have no clue why DP picked up and a case of mixed reds (some real keepers and one or two dogs that will go to others). Its not like we even drink that much, we just like having cases of wine. I guess its less of a danger than all of those pastry swirls I had sitting around.
Did a little shopping at the eddie bauer outlet today. Got a cute pair of chinos in a size 6, so maybe i'm making a little progress, they are not tight, but man do they need to be shortened.
Okay, gotta go, have a great rest of the weekend all,
    lala
  • hey lalala -
do post that zucchini brownie recipe if you find that you like it - thanks! Wow - a size 6 in pants - that is faboo - I'm lucky, at 5'7", I don't have to worry about anything being too long.

    take care all,
  • lala!!! - size 6??!!! I may have to come over there and bite you!!!!
  • hey guys,
    happy sunday.

I'm at work stymied on this stupid problem and I may just finish up some other stuff and spend a few quality hours figuring out
    proposal stuff.

    laurel and kt
Size 6 is a relative thing, isn't it? I bought some shorts that were size 8 and they are the same size as the size 6es, so go figure. Anyways, its not a bad feeling . However, I did weigh myself at home and I"m up another two pounds. I have yet to calibrate this scale with ww, so I'll find out tomorrow. Remember kt, I'm a munchkin. I would kill to top out at 5'.

I'll definitely post the zuchinni brownie recipe. I'm going to make a few pastry crusts and some cookie dough for dp while I'm gone this fall. I'm getting back into the baking mood.

So, nothing much here, work, gym, laundry, dinner making and packing for maine. Yikes.
