Unhappy grumble

I am feeling very annoyed/discouraged/etc right now.
My first three weeks on ww, I lost 2lbs a week. Last week, I gained 2.4lbs. Granted, I didn't stay perfectly on program, but I didn't do enough to warrent that much of a gain. I think it's pms, but the whole thing just annoys me so much.
This week has been so hard for me. On wednesday, I was cutting down trees with my dad, and I ended up having a 49 point day. The next day was 32 (getting better ), and friday was 25. Today sucks. I blame those evil Krispy Kreme donuts, and their stupid 24hr drive thru.
It just seems so hopeless. I'm so very sick of salads and all the zero point veggies. Those recipe cards they give out in the meetings seem very icky. And a waste of points. I've been exercising daily, but I've already gained by being on program, so I just can't help thinking, what is the point. No pun intended.
Just had to rant. Thanks for reading.

I might be out of line here, but I don't think you are ready to follow the program and lose the weight. Sorry but in your post you seem very rebeluis (sp?). You have a choice! Make it to your advantage.

I don't eat alot of veggies including salad. There are a bunch of great recipes both here http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/foru...p?s=&forumid=3 and at Dotti's http://pub38.************/bdottisweightlosszone

Go and browse them I bet you'll find a bunch that are easy and you'll like and eat.

You really sound like you want something that you don't have to think about so you can lose weight...there is always Jenny Craig (prepackaged meals - yuck)... W/W is a way to learn to eat real food in proper portions but it takes effort on yur part.

Do a menu, plan your days! I do a dinner menu for two weeks at a time so I know exactly how many points I'll have left for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

What are you eating? Are you satisifed if not re-evaulate what you are eating.

Your 2.4 gain is/was mostly water because to gain that much you'd have had to eat in excess of 7000+ calories more than you need just to sustain yourself.

Like the other poster it sounds like you may not be mentally ready to give 100% for your loss and for that I feel bad. When you finally hear the 'click' you will let nothing stop you.

You need to take responsibility for what you put in your mouth no one but you makes you eat or not eat something.

Just keep on trying, you will have off weeks and just when you are really discouraged you will lose again.
I don't know what the weather has been like where you live but in Ohio it is HOT and HUMID. I have been drinking tons of water, using Salt Sense and yes, it is also the week before my period and I am in my 5th week of maintenance and guess what, I gained 2.5 lbs. Talk about crying!!!
My leader said it is just water. Like Kelly said unless you eat that many more calories it is just water retention.
I seems to me that the week I do really good and stay exactly OP I don't lose, the week I eat that Krispy Kreme, I lose a pound or too. That just proves the water theory.
Good luck and let us know how you do.

Angry Hang in There!

Trixie:

Quote of the Day:

"That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do; not that the nature of the thing itself is changed, but that our power to do is increased." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

P.S.

I'm so glad we don't have Krispy Kreme in CT!

Trixie pup Don't get discouraged, it's too early in your journey for that. What you might want to do is start marking your losses/gains on a calendar and see if there is some kind of pattern. If you find you are more tempted to eat over your Points during the week or two of PMS, then you'll have to plan for that. During those weeks, bank Points or earn extra activity Points to cover your extra appetite. There is definitely a pattern to my hunger, and I always try to plan ahead. If you fail to plan, than you plan to fail .

When the weather is hot and humid, you do need to drink much more water. I try to drink as much as I can stuff down. It makes me feel so much better and makes the heat feel less. Drink water and eat fruits to replenish your body. Remember that the recommended 6-8 glasses of water is only a minimum recommended amount, our bodies need much more than that if we're eating too much sodium and it's hot out.

Something I have learned, and this was a VERY hard lesson to learn: If I go over my Points, I am almost destined to have a gain. It's true! It really doesn't matter how many calories it is, mybody takes those extra cals and SUCKS them in, showing a gain. The best way to avoid this is to stay OP.

Another thing I've learned is that in my journey to lose weight, I have no one to answer to but myself. No one is forcing me to lsoe weight. I joined Weight Watchers, no one made me. If I fail, I fail no one but myself. You have to have an accountability to yourself for the program to "click". No matter what happens, or what I eat, it is always ME stuffing the food into my mouth. I've never had anyone force feed me and then make me get on a scale! I've realized that if I can't answer to myself and look myself in the eye, then what's the point? Why even try. Be accountable to yourself first. It's all up to you.

Most of all, remember that Whether you think you can or you can't, you are right. Believe in yourself. When you believe in yourself and believe that you are worth it, no outside force can MAKE you over eat. You always have a choice. YOU ARE WORTH IT and YES YOU CAN DO IT.

Remember that one day on program breeds another. And if you are off-program at 10:00, you can be back OP at 10:01. It's a matter of choice, and everyone is capable of that. Most of all, take care of yourself. Good luck. Keep trying and trust that next week will be better if you make it better.

andrea-

This may not be what you want to hear but enjoy your salads and zero point vegetables. Enjoy the fact you have an apetite and can chose from such a wide range of foods with WW. You are making the decision on how you eat and what plan you follow. I no longer get the privleage to do that- I managed to contract some silly stomach disease (gastroparesis) that leaves me feeling nauseous all the time (even with medication), struggling to actually eat becasue my stomach truely hurts & feels full- the thought of food makes it turn most of the time- and worst of all I have to eat LOW FIBER and low fat. The low fat part is easy but try giving up your salads because you can't have them at all and I bet you would miss them too just as you are missing the foods you feel you cannot have with WW right now. Enjoy your carrot and celery sticks while I sit back and sip my carrot-celery juice.

Enjoy your trips to the grocery store where you can buy ANYTHING and still be on program with WW as long as you budget. I have to look at every lable and make sure it is okay for me to have it- is it low enough in fiber, does it have bran or oats in it (if it does, back it goes), what type of sweatner does it have (no corn syrup- long standing allergy for me). Enjoy an occasional Krispy Kreme donut- you at least have it as am option as long as you account for it with WW but unless they firgure out a way to make them low fat I won't be having one with you. I would love to trade places with you- would you want to trade places with me?

I have to try to figure out how to still lose weight once again with all my dietary restrictions and this metabolism that has been screwed with from this disease yet the one thing many of my friends have comment on is that I have taken this new challenge in my life in stide, like I have many other challenges before. I may talk about how my relationship with food and eating has changed but I cannot let this get me down. No matter what reason we have for changing our eating habits we have to maintian an healthy attitude about it- that is 50% of the battle. Any one of the other posters can tell you that- learning the program and trying to follow it is only part of the struggle, the other part is mental- the accepting that this is the way we will eat for the rest of our lives, not just for the weeks/months/years it takes to reach our goals. My personal goal is not only to be within a healthy weight range for me but to always have healthy eating habits- the changes we make are not temporary. You are not on a 'diet' you are making a life style change for your health, just as I am.
