Morning all. Foggy, rainy day here, temps are balmy though. Kinda like the west coast. Speaking of that, glad you didn't panic when you saw that strange fiery ball in the sky yesterday lala. You can laugh at all of this when you start to see the flowers bloom in February. We see that in May
I got out for a wonderful 5 km run last night. It was warm (for winter) and I had peeled off all but a thin long-sleeved shirt (and pants, of course) but the end of it. Great, great running weather.
I am taking M to see the condo on the weekend. How weird will that be? Time is getting close. I go back to my former home right after Superbowl Sunday to start packing. Can't wait to have my own space again.
The sun is shining!!! I may need to get outside and a get a good dose of some vitamin D!!! Funny how little things excite a person. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain and I think the cooler weather will return. I really can't complain too loudly because at least we're not shoveling.
I was down .6 yesterday at my WI which is great considering TOM arrived so early. I'll take the loss. My friend and I went to the yoga class after work and I have to admit that it was hard to hear the instructor because there is a lot of activity in the same area that the class is going on. There were also members doing exercises right next to me so I couldn't get into the relaxation part. It did feel good to do the stretching but I don't think I'll be going back to that class.
Lala: The time frame for your floors sounds good, although I'm sure you'll be chomping at the bit to get it all done and over with. I was looking at our carpeting in our living room and would love to replace it but at this point and time it's not going to happen. I would love to have hardwood floors.
Susan: Nothing wrong with faking the click--eventually it will be there and until then keep plugging away! Your move in date to your condo will be here before you know it. I'm sure you'll be glad to be in your own space to do what you want, when you want.
Hi everyone. Quick type by as I have a 8:30 "live meeting" demo to go to. Whoo hooo. This is the third time I have had to reschedule this, I'll be glad when its over and my monthly team meeting is today. Yech.
Anyhoo, Melissa - yeah on the loss and going to yoga. I would be frustrated if I couldn't hear the instructor either.
Susan - good on ya for the run, sounds like it was a fun one and a warm one outdoors. I could send you some boxes if you want. DP picked up too many at the grocery store. Our house smells like old produce. I hope that M. likes the digs you chose.
Anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend? I have a three day weekend coming up...
Hi to Pam, Lisa and Austin and all the lurkers out there!
TGIF folks. Don't think I'd last another day. It's been a hectic, frustrating week.
Plans for weekend are to go shopping for bedroom furniture tonight, weigh in (don't have high hopes), get hair cut and highlighted, attend Pilates class, vote, go see condo and maybe see Brokeback Mountain tomorrow, and do a long run on Sunday morning. If I can get into it, I may hem some curtains on Sunday afternoon but that's a long way off and I'm not making any promises
I made it to the gym and ran for half an hour on the treadmill yesterday. That's a record - two days in a row! It feels really good to be back.
My sister is heading out of town so I'll actually have some alone time and that will be nice. Not that I don't love my sister, but it's been a while...
Had a run-in with a bowl of popcorn last nite. I know, it could have been a worse food choice, but I ate too much. I need to concentrate on portion sizes. That's my goal for the next week.
Good morning! It's a balmy 54 here this morning...I got a short/quick walk in this morning to get the blood flowing. I had a hard time getting moving...it'd be a good day to be off! The cold weather is just around the corner so I'm going to enjoy what today brings
Susan: Good job on getting the running in--like you I feel better now that I'm back to exercising on a somewhat regular basis. I feel better emotionally and physically. I also had a run in with food last night--tortilla chips I think part of the problem was that I didn't eat lunch until 2:30 and from there things went downhill. I need to watch that! You may want to check under "additional options" to see if the check box for "show your signature" is checked.
Lala: I don't know that I'll go back to the yoga class but we did observe a strength/circuit training class that was being held at noontime and it looks like it'd work for us--it's only a 1/2 hour and we talked with the instructor afterwards and she said it wouldn't be a problem for us to join in. So, next Thursday we're going to take the class. It's really helping having a buddy to motivate/push me to go.
I have a 3-day weekend as well--my plan is to get the Christmas tree down (yes, it's still up) and to do some general cleaning that I've been neglecting. It'll be nice to have a day off.
Susan - sounds like you have a busy weekend planned all in two days. Yikes, however, you sound jazzed, which is great. I want to see Brokeback too, but DP hates the theater. Need to find a 9:30 showing or something...
Melissa - Our tree came down last week, its okay. We do a funny thing, our tree is hung by a wire to our box beams, so it just stands in a bucket and makes it really easy to hang. Now we just haul a yard waste container into the house and cut the branches off, put them in the garbage can and then we just have to haul out the trunk. We then use the boughs/branches in the garden as mulch. Its the hauling out of the ornament boxes that I detest.
You also sound like you have a very busy weekend.
We're flying to boston tomorrow (triple miles) and back, painting my office, decluttering a bit, gardening if possible, cleaning out the freezers of dead food and hopefully going to the farmer's market.
Nothing else exciting planned. I have to get ready for a work meeting in Atlanta at the end of the month and a trip to the weather channel. Whoo hoo.
Hi everyone else - Pam, I'll wave to you as I fly over.
Hi everyone. I've been at an off-site for a couple days. Long meetings, but I guess productive. There was food galore and I tried very hard to stay within points. I can't seem to shake this Christmas weight.
Melissa, great for you to have a loss. You still have your tree up? DH would not go for that at all. Need to make some more of your muffins; DH at the last batch and proudly announced that he had lost 5 pounds. Of course, he ran 13 miles on Wednesday!! I'm glad you're stil having unseasonable weather. Agree with you on the yoga class; it doesn't jazz me, but I do like Pilates.
Susan, your new condo sounds nice. I love hardwood floors, but although I really wanted them in my home, I saw what can happen if a hurricane hits. Hardwood floors do not do well; if they get wet, they raise up and are ruined. That's why I'm getting porcelain tile. I hope the installer will start before the end of the month.
lala, you're having a lot of tile put in. You're like me; I want it now!
Weekend plans: tonight is a girls night out. We're going to Applebees to have WW menu items and then to see the Kings Brass--great brass group. On Saturday I'm judging high school students' plays and then hang out with a friend as DH is working.
Did I tell you that I saw The Producers at the theater? Very, very funny. I loved it. Although I don't usually buy DVD's, I may buy that one.
