Hello to all!
Well, it's warm & sunny here today & the boss is out of the office today, so I decided to wear shorts & tennis shoes (it feels great!)to work today - it is a real small office, so it's pretty laid back, but my boss can't seem to get out of the suit & tie regime. The rest of us are pretty business casual in our attire, but I don't think he'd like to see me working in shorts unless I was taking off early for the day.

I am meeting with the WW area manager this afternoon to discuss the possiblility of becoming a WW leader (sounds weird, I know!). I currently am a receptionist for one meeting a week, but as I mentioned last week, I am quite unfufilled in my present career & am looking to make a positive change. So, I figured it doesn't hurt to find out more information about it plus find out if I can even afford to make the change. I worry about a drastic salary drop. But then I also hear people say that if you do what you love, the rest will follow. There is a training session for new leaders being offered in July in Milwaukee, so I need to decide if I should attend. I do like being at the WW meetings; it's nice to feel like you're actually doing something that helps make a difference in someone's life. I don't get that satisfaction here.

Enough of my career problems - I have to run - I'll let you know how the meeting goes as well as my weigh in.

Katie

Congrats, Melissa, on the loss. I'm heading off to Prince Edward Island for the Canada Day festivities. That's our smallest province and also the birthplace of confederation, so it's kinda fitting I guess. They're featuring a three-day festival this year with some good talent so it should be fun. What are your plans?

WTG kt with making that move towards a career change. I've heard the same thing - that if you do what you love, everything else seems to fall into place. But I hear ya about a potential drop in salary. In our society, that's a hard "perk" to let go of.

lalala - you sound pumped! I have tried several times to incorporate weight training into my regime but so far to no avail. I just can't seem to stick to it. Will likely try once again in the fall; I know that strength training is very important for women, particuarly as we age, and once very long ago, I used to love lifting weights. Maybe I just need a partner? DH works out faithfully at home three times a week, but he is very much set in his routine and I wouldn't dare invade "manland" at those times.

Today's my last workday for the week. We head out tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it. I will also go for weigh-in tomorrow morning. Yikes!

Have a great weekend everyone. Talk to you Tuesday.

Hello and Happy Thursday to all.

for those following the Eddie situation - official diagnosis is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy - thickening of the heart muscle causing impairment of the heart function - a chronic irreversible state, but apparently the course of the disease can be moderated with daily meds for life. He started taking his meds, Atenolol, last night, mixed up in some tuna and we shall see. I can't say I'm too happy about it, but what to do?

melissa & KT & myra (if you're reading this) - congrats on the losses this week. It's nice to be in the company of such a buncha losers!!! GO GALS GO!!!

lala & Seasaw I'm a big fan of "Body Electric" by Margaret Richards. This is a 1/2 hour show on public TV, all strength training, hand weights, toning, etc. She is very sensible and someone I can relate to. I've been doing "margarets" for about 2 years and I actually have developed some muscle tone in the formerly flabby arms (they are still kind of flappy though - but I don't think there's much hope for that). I mean I can feel my triceps! awesome. Check out if she comes on PBS near you. Sadly, my local pbs station dropped her, but I did make a few videotapes before she disappeared. www.bodyelectrictv.com - she gives listings in different states - I wonder if she's in Canada too?

kt i think that is so exciting about your possibly becoming a ww leader. I'm vaguely toying with the idea of becoming a receptionist or a weigher-inner. Don't think I could handle being a leader. keep us posted!

No special plans for the 4th of July. Only have the Wednesday off. We have a really good local fireworks show that I look forward to every year.

talk to you later.

L.

Hi all-

Muggy wednesday in Seattle. Yesterday it really cut loose, which was great for the garden. Bad for the dog .

Had another good day, so I'm going for a string of four. I have a meeting at a local bakery known for its bear claws. I'll be sticking to coffee and maybe another cup.

Laurel: Poor Eddie. I'm hoping he responds to the meds well and enjoys his tuna treat. My darling cat gets tuna with her dinner. However, she is now eating at the neighbors too and gaining weight. She will be on light kibble at home.

sucessful losers: good on you mates. I am hoping to be there in a few. Still working off all that gelato and those gin and tonics

I'm happy to be at the gym. I'm adding more to my workout everyday. I am going really late- 9 pm, but that is the only time that seems to be working. I have too much going on.

No plans for the 4th. I'll probably be into work for at least half the day getting my demo ready for my meeting the following week. . I think we'll visit some friends for a bit, catch up and then go to the University Parking garage and catch one set of fireworks. Its typically rainy and foggy, making fireworks a bit depressing. Last year, I was in Santa Barbara watching them on the Beach. That was good.

Okay, back to work.

Happy Friday everyone!!!

It's a balmy 91 here today...phew! I was out over the lunch hour and I'm surprised I didn't melt into a puddle. Anyway, I treated myself to a Iced Chai (with soy milk). I have to say I've never had soy milk and it doesn't taste much different than using skim/1%...

I'm so glad it's Friday...have quite a bit to get done as I've been dragging my feet all morning on getting things done. The weekend should be relatively quiet. My son has a soccer game on Saturday and one on Sunday so that won't be too bad. Hopefully this heat & humidity will leave soon. I don't look forward to standing out in the hot sun watching a game for an hour. I'll have to make sure I wear lots of sunscreen. The sun sees me and immediately turns me into a lobster.

Today is a little emotional for me...one of my coworkers, whom I've worked with for 19 years, is being "replaced". They've decided to hire someone who has a marketing degree. Anyway, she's been my walking buddy and support while on WW.

Ah well, hope everyone is having a good day. Have a good weekend!

Hi everybody !

TGIDD. Yes.

Last night, DP made 911 Emergency Chocolate cookies from the new Diane Mott Davidson mystery "Sticks and Scones" for my donut day. I did have a small problem controlling myself, but did okay. The chocolate bread my office mate made was outstanding to say the least.

I am also glad its Friday. I'm leaving early to try and regroup. I am whomped and really need to get motivated to get my demo up and running. Its going to be hot here and rumoured to be nice through the 4th. This will be a change.

Melissa: I'm sorry about your friend. I think its hard to see people leave. I hope that you two see eachother away from work. I don't like office politics or changes that lead to colleagues getting let go though.

Okay, I'm going to eat my delightful lunch. Write a few memos, clean off my desk and get out and enjoy the afternoon.

Have a great weekend.
