My Canada Day weekend was great! The weather was ULTIMATE PERFECTION, sunny and warm, but not hot and humid. We enjoyed a bike ride into town to watch the Canada Day parade and festivities. My parents came to visit, and we discovered some nice places to walk and have ice cream along the shores of Lake Erie. We drove around exploring the countryside, and we even came across an old cemetary that is mostly people who escaped to Canada on the underground railway in the 1800's.

After a bad WI last week (my first time UP), I haved stayed on points this week so far, even with the moose tracks ice cream cone I had, especially with all the activity. Happy 4th to all you American chickies today!

Hello ladies!
Allie, I am in sorta the same boat as you, I was up (for the first time) a 1/2 pound. I am really not surprised and am glad that it was only the 1/2 pound. I can deal with that. This past week has been a nightmare, I have not been able to concentrate on the program like I need to (grandma in hospital, problems at work.... ) but I am doing better this week. I can not let this little set back undo everything I have accomplished.

Hi All....I think I 'need' to be here....I am bouncing back and forth between Core and Flex and I am losing the battle, NOT the weight.. I need a place where there is daily support. Don't know if any of you have tried Core or not.
I am finding no matter how hard I try I can't get past 2-3 days of it.
I did lose all my weight (55lbs) on points...started Core last Sept, and I am not doing well with it at all. I keep bouncing, thinking I can do it, but 2 or 3 days passes and I blow it again....I am thinking of going back to point tomorrow *again* Seems when I am on points on want core and vise versa...any one else????
Well I will check back here again for the daily chat and moral support!!
Thanks for listening..........

Hello Everyone!

Had an interesting holiday weekend - I ate WAAAAY less than I would have say last 4th of July (no chips, dips, etc) pushed away from the table when I was full. Did do some swimming - raced my husband in the pool! LOL Had the big 'weigh in' today at 12Noon - .....verdict: LOST .8 - not bad for going a tad over points but I did stay aways from hi-cal snack foods (my favorite) and no sweets.

Something that my WW Leader said today made me really think.......... we are saying we were a little over points, etc... (funny how we are so hard on ourselves) because you know BEFORE you started WW - you were more than a TAD overpoints - so BRAVO to you for eating healthier, even if it was a bit over points.

Here's to you all!

Have a great day!

Sounds like everyone had a fun holiday weekend!

Sherry- sorry to hear about your grandma and work problems - hope things get better soon

L.J. I would go with flex if that is what worked for you before. You could always do a lower carb or "better carb" version of the flex plan. I am doing that right now.

I have stopped eating potatoes, rice and bread but I do have whole wheat pasta once in a while and if I do eat some bread it is wholewheat or multigrain. Everything else is okay - lot's of fruit, veggies and small amounts of protein and I am still counting my points in there.

Hi gang--I am here! I am not able to post as much as I used to--they took our internet away from us at work, seemed some of us were spending a little too much time surfing the web!
Grandma is out of the hospital and doing fine, as a matter of fact today is her 89th birthday.
Work is still not so good, and that has made these last two weeks very difficult for me. I start out the day with very good intentions, but once I get around to supper all those good intentions go out the door. So this week has been a real struggle for me. I was so proud of myself for exercising a couple of weeks ago, and I felt so good, but have not kept up with it.
Allie-keep up the good work! You are doing a great job!
L.J.-I agree with mauvaisroux, I tried Core and had a hard time with it, it was very difficult for me to know exactly what I should be eating. Flex (for me) was easier, I knew when I had reached my limit.
EVERYONE--KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Still here, still having a hard time.....Sherry did you have a 'hard' time switching back?? Try as I might I can't do Core either, but I am having a hard time breaking from it....Your work day and the result of it regarding the eating plan sounds EXACTLY like mine.....unreal...I could have sworn I wrote that I can't get on at work either, not for any other reason except my work load won't allow it. So I check here daily in hopes to see more of us here.
Would any of you consider posting a day in the life of your journalling for me??
I need to get a grip, I really do....my 15 lbs from goal has now become 20.....
would you help me out, please :-)

Allie - congrats on your success what's your secret??? Shear determination, right?? Something I once had and better find again SOON
Well I'll check again tomorrow...have a great day out there

L.J. it is diffult to change your mind set once you have developed habits. You basically have to forget about what you have been doing and start from scratch. It isn't easy but it can be done. Sit down and make a plan for yourself, set up some menus and get your groceries in. This will help you set up and stick to it.

You can do it!

Hmmm...my secret, eh?

Well, sheer determination is part of it. I don't like leaving stuff incomplete. I guess I have a number of things that keep me going, so here they are:

Overweight people in my family have a history of developing diabetes II. No way I want this...I'll do anything not to get diabetes.
My husband is doing this with me. Without his support, I don't know if I could do this. (he's down 36 at the moment!!)
I have really been paying attention to nutrition labels. I never did before, and never realized what kind of crud I was putting into my body. I went to a seminar on healthy eating, and they showed a video of the making of Krispy Kreme donuts...I will never eat one again after seeing the GOBS and GOBS of fat that go into those things.
I have really changed portion sizes, especially for meat.
I keep a bowl of fruit handy, instead of chips or candies...so that's what I head for when I have the munchies.
I bike or walk whenever something is not too far away, instead of drive.
I have actually been using the exercise bike (that I've been using as a coat hanger for the last 2 years) as an exercise thing.
I take one cookie instead of 2 or 5. This has been sheer will.
I record EVERYTHING I eat.
A recipe from my WW leader for 1 point brownie muffins.

So, it's been a combination of motivation and changing of my bad eating habits, I guess. If it's any consolation, it was really hard to break the habits at first, but after a couple of months, the new habits (such as reading the label on everything I take of the shelf in the grocery store, walking each day, and not eating seconds) are now feeling much more natural. I don't think "hmmm, should I go for seconds?" anymore, it's just a given that I don't. A lot of the cravings I fought at first are no longer there. So hang in there, you can do it, too!

I am at home now, so I can type freely now!
Here is what I had today (inluding my snack for tonight!)
I start out with 26 points
Food points used point balance

yogurt 2 24
apple 1 23
coffee w/ cream 1 22
turkey sandwich 4 18
(sandwich is 2 slices of lite brown bread 1 pt for both, lettuce, 2 Pt slice cheese and deli turkey that is precut-5 thin slices for 1 pt)
15 ff pringles 1 17
1 cup baby carrots 0 17
1/2 cup mandarin oranges 1 16
grilled chicken 4 12
1/2 cup noodles 3 9
green beans 0 9
1 cup pineapple 2 7
1 cup 1% milk 2 5
lowfat muffin 2 3

Now, I know I have 3 poitns leftover. But if I am not hungry I will not use them. Besides, I am always kind of unsure about the weight of stuff like chicken and I don't always know if I have figured up my points on stuff like meat correctly, so that gives me a cushion.
I feel like I am back on track today, I am determined to do this. Every day will not be perfect. And if you consider that this is supposed to be a LIFESTYLE change...well, I can not be perfect 100% of the time. The difference now is that when I don't do as well as I am supposed to I want to do something to correct it, not just stuff more into my mouth.
I am kind of rambling here.....
I think a huge part of me staying on program has to do with being organized. When I am doing progrma the right way, I plan out my menu atleast a day in advance. I right down everything I am going to eat. I feel like I have a plan of action, it is easier for me to stick to the program that way.
As far as "switching back" from Core to Flex I did not have a hard time. I feel like Flex is right for me. Because I am into the whole organization, writing down what I eat is not a big deal...which is something that people who are into Core don't like doing.

Okay, I think I am ready for that lowfat muffin now!
