Default Flex Chat/ Week of June 20th

Thought I would start a new thread, I think we set a record with our last one!
I had a good weekend, there was a Multi-cultral Festival going on and besides the great music there was FOOD FOOD FOOD! And my favorite kind of foods...funnel cakes, sausage sandwiches piled high with onions and peppers, fresh cut french fries with vinegar....oh Lordy!!
Well, I had NONE OF IT!!! NONE! I sat there and listened to the music and watched my 4 year old daughter dance and smelled those wonderful smells and had NOTHING!
Needless to say I am very proud of myself!
How was everyones else weekend? I think we have some people on this thread who WI today:

Hi Sherry

I was going to start a new thread too when I came online but you had already done it. We didn't even start one last week, we just continued on from the previous week. I haven't weighed in in almost three weeks. I looked like I may have been up 5 pounds but I have been really watching it the last few days and it's going down again. Mostly water weight I guess. I am going to weigh in on Friday.

The DS came home from school just now for lunch and asked me if he could take the next few days off from school because his friends are! Can you imagine! He's only out for the summer after Wednesday. Don't want to go for thoses two days, but he's going. I need those days for my sanity .

Good Job on resisting temptations . It feels like such an accomplishment when we do things like that. Give yourself a pat on the back.

How's everyone else doing?

Kim

This was a weekend of temptations...some which I resisted, some which I did not. It was my brother's wedding on Saturday. I didn't bother counting points. All I have written in my points journal is "HUGE ENORMOUS POINTS".

I resisted going for seconds, and I scraped the gooey sickly sweet icing off the cake, but other than that, I ate like it was a wedding. I also danced for a couple of hours, my brother asked the DJ to play all 80's stuff, and I danced like I was back in high school. It was a blast.

My uncle drove up for the family picture taking at a flower gardens, and he had bought champagne, wine glasses, and cheese, meat and crackers, which we munched on out of the back of his SUV while we waited for the photographer.

I don't have WI until Thursday, so I will have to stay exactly on points for the rest of the week, and we shall see how I did.

Allie!! You have mentioned some more of my favorite foods! I love wedding cake (with the white, sugary icing) and wine and cheese and crackers!! The key is, if you do eat it just keep on trudging along. Keep on doing the meetings and try to get back on program the next day. That has always been my problem. I do bad one day and think "Oh well, I messed up one day...might as well keep messing up." I am sure if you stay on the program you will not be disappointed.

Sounds like you all did a great job this weekend!! My weekend was pretty good, finally got my BBQ going, so I made sure there was plenty of chicken to eat. When I was in the grocery store I was sooooo tempted by all the sweet stuff, I have a sweet tooth. I managed to walk past it, although I don't know how. We'll see what the rest of the week holds for me, I guessing smelling a empty M&M package dosen't have points.

Why not try to have 1 slice of vegetarian pizza or pick the pepperoni off a regular slice? That way you can have a treat and not feel deprived. At your staff lunch you can order something lighter or a nice salad with low fat dressing on the side.

I had a good weigh in last night I have lost another 1lb for a total of 4lbs after months of being on a plateau! Yay!!!! I am hoping to make it to 169lbs by next week so I can break that 170lbs and then I will be on my last 10lbs to goal

Chinese food didn't work so well for me a couple of weeks ago. I ate less than I usually would, but those darn leftovers.... Only lost 0.5 lb that week. My mom used to make excellent homemade Chinese, I should get her recipes and modify them to be more point friendly.

I love pizza stacked with mucho veggies. For some reason, around here everyone only wants pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese. I get really weird looks when I merely suggest green peppers or tomatos.

ONE MORE WEEK TIL SUMMER VACATION!

Mmmmm.....pizza.....
I was down another pound...which puts me to 25 pounds lost!
I also need to share this with everyone: I HATE exercising! I hate it. But, for the past two days I have gotten off of my lazy butt and walk for a half hour. This may not sound like a lot to everyone, but it is pretty major to me. I walk at a pretty brisk pace, and by the time I get home I am drenched! I am going to try and walk at least 5 days a week, and hopefully add 15 minutes weekly to my walk.
Does anyone else exercise? How did you start out? Any tips for the exercised impair?
Sounds like everyone is doing well...I am back on flex this week. Just my personal preference!

sherry- congratulations on hitting the 25lbs mark!

as for exercising, how about a dance class? I take bellydance classes- they are so much fun it doesn't feel like exercise, I get a great cardio and toning workout and it has helped me lose inches of my hips and thighs (my most diffucult area).

Jazzercise, hip hop, line dancing, and ballroom dance are also great options. You get to have fun, learn something new and get a workout

Hi!
I haven't been good at keeping my journal. Any tips to make it happen?

Happy thursday!

Mauvaisroux--I dunno, I was born with two left feet, I am afraid that I would end up falling down or knocking in to someone!
Trudi - I bought one of the spiral bound journals that WW sells that has space for 12 weeks worth. I really like these books, I can look back through and see what I have eaten and remind myself of some good things I have eaten. Furthermore I actually use this as a mini-personal journal. I write down what I have done that day, any obstacles that I have over come. I carry mine with me EVERYWHERE, and I change purses with every outfit I wear (love purses!) and it automatically goes in. Almost every evening I write down what I am going to have for breakfast and lunch the next day. I usually don't know what I am having for supper until the afternoon, but as soon as I figure that out, I write it down too. Now it is just habit. I am on week 13 (just bought a new journal) and I have written down everything I have put in my mouth (good and bad! ) since I have started.
I don't know if all of this is exactly "tips" but it is what I do!

I thought I had two left feet until I started bellydancing and took to it like a duck to water!

Thanks Sherry - that's really good to read. Maybe I'll try a notebook instead of the little paper journals. I carry my personal journal with me, so I could make space in there.
