Default BBQ help!

I am going to a barbeque party on Sunday and need some ideas on how to say no to all the goodies I know are going to be there.

I was thinking of bringing a steak to grill or some chicken/veg kebabs, that way I can avoid the hamburger/hot dog route. I know there will be plenty of pasta salad there so I don't want to bring that but I would like to bring something to share with everyone.

Also - there will be lots of beer and what not there and I would like to avoid that temptation...What can I bring that will let me join in the fun and not make me stand out from the crowd?...agh, the peer pressure!

Non alcohol beers if you just want to enjoy the taste? ONly 1 point. Drink a glass of water between each non water and alcohol beverage you have.

Keep your hands full of a beverage and napkin (opposite hands) to keep out of the munchie goodies.

As for the main course can you plan to enjoy 1 burger and some of the pasta salads instead of bringing something else (unless that is the kwel with the host/hostess) so you don't stand out?

Play with the kids and/or enjoy the company of someone and chat about life, issues and other things.

You could always bring a veggie tray or fruit tray (or better yet both) with some different (W/W friendly dips <e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send you a bunch>) dips.

Or even wine (light wine preferably mixed with diet 7Up/Sprite/etc) coolers homemade.

I really like Oscar Myers fat free BEEF hotdogs. They are 2 points for one, and I buy lite hot dog buns (1 PT each) I put mustard, onion and relish (0 PTS). I would do the veggie/dip thing, and look under the recipe thread for a dessert. There is a cake recipe listed for a Dreamsicle cake that is wonderful.

Thanks kelly and Sherry - great suggestions!

I will also stand as far away from the chip bowl as I possible can!

I went to a BBQ and brought myself a Boca Vegetarian Burger. They are only 1pt each and the hosts just thought I was a vegetarian, that's why I brought it. I also ate lots of salad and treated myself with one light beer.
