Good Morning... just racing to get ready for work!

Marion - still no car? I'm glad I don't have to drop my daughter off and walk to work myself...her school is 5 miles from here and my job is another 70 miles away! I have a friend at work who runs marathons - and I always tease with her that I watch the mileage on my car and can't believe that someone could actually run 26 miles!!!! It just sounds overwhelming to me.

Kathi - you MUST go to WI this week no matter what! You and I are too much alike and you sound like you are on the verge of quitting (as I would be too).... 2 missed weigh ins and they would never see me again I just know my personality. BUT - no matter what the scale says - at least attend the meeting to hear the lecture. I figure it this way.... even if you aren't following the program to a "T" - isn't your lifestyle a little bit healthier than it was at Christmas? Also - do you take a multivitamin? I have found that a good women's vitamin is helping me too. I am up earlier in the day and I feel more energetic.

By the way everyone..... just wanted you to know that I bought a weight management set of audio tapes at a medical conference I went to with my mom (she's a nurse).... I'm on tape 3 now in the car - BUT on tape 2 they went through a list of diets and the good and bad points. ONLY Weight Watchers and Deal a Meal (Richard Simmons) met their requirements for a good long term eating plan for life. They stress over and over that it should not be looked at as a diet - but rather a lifestyle change where you learn to make better food choices regardless of weight. Their worst? Atkins and Protein Power!

Chat with you all later.

Good morning everyone!

Cynthia---If your haircut was more than a trim, I hope you had better luck than I had last week Got a perm and trim on Friday from a new person, and oh my gosh....she overprocessed it and it was nothing but a bushy mess. So on Sunday I went to someone that a friend recomened, and I got it all cut off. It is REALLY short. People tell me it looks cute, but it is taking some time to get used to by me. Much easier to take care of I admit....wash and wear!

Kim--- The fajitas are just my own recipe.....just peppers, onions, mushrooms, black olives and halfed cherry tomatoes sauteed w/ salsa and a few spices. Sometimes I add chicken or beef, but I like just veggies. Add a low fat tortilla, half a piece of ff cheese and some low fat sour creme and I am in heaven. I also fix the Lipton spanish rice for 4 points a cup....which is alot of rice.

Jody--- I got a giggle reading about your romantic dinner amongst the clutter on your table. My table is the same way....a catchall for everything!

Marion---I need to get serious about the exercise too. The weekends are no problem, but during the week I just have a hard time finding time for any formal plan.

Kathi---Please hang in there. I have come so close to giving up too, but then I think back to a year ago. I was at 215 and so excited. Then came vacation. I never got back on plan, and just stopped monotoring all food intake. Needless to say, I got right back up to where I had started. Something that helps me now is.....even if I have some bad days (and that just happened on a mini vacation where I gained 9 pounds in 6 days!)......I tell myself I have a choice. I can throw in the towell, gain every bit back and be totally miserable......OR.....I can be miserable for a day or two about my 9 pound gain, get back on track and keep losing and getting healthy. I have been playing with the same few pounds for a couple of months now, but that is better than what could have happened if I had given up completly. Just one day...or better yet, one hour at a time Kathi. You can do it, and we are all here for you. :-)

Everyone have a great Thursday....Friday is within sight....yea!

Lots of energy coming out of here!!

Hey, Marion. You are an exercise bimbo. I cannot imagine going 3 miles early in the day and 4 miles in new tennies! Good for you. You'll see it for sure on Wednesday. Keep it up.

So good to hear from everyone. We know where Cynthia is...celebrating a BIG AV WIN!! YAY

Kim, I can't believe you said that about not being a huggy person. I lived many years in Maryland-D.C. area before moving to WY. I DO NOT LIKE TO BE HUGGED. At work, it's like I have a sign around my work area--"Stand Back". A new employee is a real hugger and everyone groaned when he gave me a hug in a staff meeting. They put him straight in a hurry! Is this an Eastern thing or is it just us? Comments anyone?

Kathi, listen to the force of the group. After you've gone to 20 meetings without losing anything, maybe it's time to reconsider but before that...stick with it. We all know how important it is to enforce the discipline that comes with going to the meetings. I love what Kim is doing with the tapes. I just don't ever have that much "dead air time." It takes me 6 minutes to get to work during rush hour! I have 1/2 hr for lunch and really need the meal break by then. There's a woman in the office who goes to the fitness room and runs the tredmill at lunch but I can't skip the meal. If you have the chance to listen to something like those tapes or any of the other ones that Kim has used, I'm sure it would help a lot. I think we have to obsess to some degree here.

Sherry, your fajitas sound great. Bet the secret is in those "few spices." I'm going to put that together this weekend. I can use my George Foreman on the veggies. Yum-yum. Son and dtr-in-law both have May birthdays which our schedules missed so we're going our for dinner Sunday night with them but that leaves 5 other meals over the weekend when we could try those fajitas. Thanks.

Everyone have a great OP weekend...are we thinking about a new thread here?
