Talking I'm new too!!

Hello Ladies...I am new to WW and started b/c of the Flex point system. Sounded like a diet I could REALLY stick too after trying every diet known to man!!

If anyone could send me some information on how the flex point works and what I need to get to start, that would be great!

My weight now: 170
Goal weight: 130

Thanks and hope to chat everyday to stay motivated!

Hugs,
Misty

Hi, Misty! Welcome! I hope you love the WW FP system as much as I do! I have tried half-heartedly in the past. But this time, I'm jazzed and have been faithful for about 8 weeks. I have lost 17.9 pounds.

The system is really pretty easy to use. Do you have any of the WW materials? What I use the most is my daily food journal, point finder slide card, and the Food Guide book. The point finder is a life-line to tell you the points in all packaged foods. You could use a notebook for the journal, but it is pretty inexpensive and I think it makes it much easier to have everything pre-printed for me. And when I don't want to look stuff up on-line, I grab my food guide (like to find out the points in flounder that I cooked tonight).

I think you points target is 22, but my chart is at the office. Everyone gets 35 FPs per week. You can use 5 each day, or save extras for a special event - use as many or few as you find works best for you. Some weeks I use almost all. Others I use only half.

I love the flexibility this program gives. I think of it as a perfectly sized box and I can put as much in that box as I want as long as it fits.

As you go and read other posts and visit websites, you will learn some tricks of the trade. Like you can have two slices of most light breads for the same points as 1 slice of regular bread. You can make you meals more feeling and get more bites if you add 0 pt veggies in the mix.

If you have any questions, there are lots of helpful people who post here. Several of us post daily on "Let's Support Each Other II..." on this site. You are welcome to join!

Have a great weekend!

Misty - You can get the PointsFinder at the WW meeting. I'm not a member, but they let me purchase the products during their weigh in time. I think it is $2 or less. If there is not a meeting near you, you can get it from e-bay, but you will probably pay a lot more. It's a card inside a cardboard sleeve. You slide the card so that you line up your calories, fiber and fat in an item and the amount of points will line up next to it in a cut-out window. Hope this helps!

Also hope that your day has gone well. Weekend eating is much harder for me to keep in control. I cooked a healthy breakfast & lunch, but munched on some low point cookies I made and we went out for dinner. FPs were used!

Have a good weekend.
