I am an identical twin. My sister has always been thinner than I am (drat), our entire adult life she's been about 20 lbs lighter. On top of that, she is VERY competitive when it comes to losing weight. Whenever she thinks I am approaching her weight, she starts the dieting herself.

I've joined ww, I would like to lose 20 lbs. It's kind of embarassing to admit, but being her weight is a major motivational factor here. I've lost 7 lbs and she's suddenly VERY interested in the points system.

Anyone else have a sister/brother/family member who you "compete" with when it comes to losing weight? For just once I would like to be thinner than her!!! Grr...I know I should just let it go, but it drives me nuts.

I'm a twin, too, but not identical (although you'd be amazed how many people have asked me over the years if my BROTHER and I are identical!).

I've just run into the competition thing with my DH, although it's not trying to get thinner, but we found ourselves competing to see who could eat the least number of points a day. Now my DH has a strength of will that is not to be believed, and he ended up basically fasting (not healthy), and I, realizing I couldn't compete with that, started going way over points (also not healthy). It was pretty ugly around our house until I figured out what was going on. Now we're on a strict, don't ask, don't tell policy when it comes to how many points we've eaten, and things are a lot better.

You're well on way to losing that 20 lbs. Keep up the great work! Don't worry too much about what your sister is doing. You can't control her, only yourself.

Yes, with my SIL . I lost 63 lbs. and then she started doing the Weigh-Down thing because of all the comments I was getting, plus I finally weighed less than her. She lost about 45 lbs. and has stabilized in the 190s, whereas I have regained my weight and am back OP.
