Do you count your smoothies?

  • I know we're supposed to, but I don't. I'm really bad with getting my fruit in, so this is my main source of fruit.

    I make mine with spinach or kale, 1/2 - 1 banana, and assorted frozen fruit(cranberries, blueberries, pineapple, peaches, mango - whatever I have) and water.

    Can't believe that you're supposed to count a banana as 5 points if you blend it! I can see why they smoothies can't be free because drinking them all day wouldn't work. I try to drink one most days.
  • I don't drink smoothies. I think that one reason it is counted is because you are drinking which isn't as filling. And, it is really easy to overdo it and pack in a lot of calories at one time. If you limit it to 1 a day and it isn't more servings of fruit than is reasonable then it may work if it isn't slowing down weight loss more than you want it to.
  • I also don't count my smoothies. I keep the fruit content limited - 1 cup of pineapple, plus greens and lime juice - but I have never counted them and have one most days of the week. I do think that as I get closer to goal I may have to pay closer attention to this issue and play around with it a bit, but so far, so good!
