Hey, all... I'm new here. Thanks for the welcome!

I'm also BUMMED. I finally made it into the two hundreds last week... but barely... and sure enough, I gained just enough weight this week to put me back in the threes.

It was a miserable week... I knew it was going to be bad, but still. Waaaaah!

Okay. I'm done wailing... and I'm determined. This week will be different.
  • Hello ladies!

I'm anxiously awaiting WI tomorrow morning.

Food wasn't the best today. Work had a special day and provided lunch for us but it was shredded beef sandwiches, potato salad, beans, and slaw. I ate small portions though. The killer was the Drumstick ice cream. Geez, those are good.

I'll walk the dog vigorously tonight and drink lots of water.

Hey Goofy! Where are you and whatcha doing? You're probably out whipping the yard into shape, the house into shape or kicking butt on some trails.

Houndlvr - Congrats on your loss! Good job.

Jkfla - Holy smokes! 6.4 is great! for you too. Welcome to the group! Stay jazzed!

SpazzyKC - Hmmm, I thought I had posted a note on your thread too. Wonder what happened. I'm glad you joined us as well. Sorry about the bad week. Here's : coming your way. Make a plan for the week and get your journal out. Those always help you regain control.

I've got a work picnic tomorrow night so I'll be busy tomorrow and food will be not great. I'll check back in on Sunday. Have a great OP weekend!
  • Great job!!!! Doesn't it feel wonderful when you see your hard work paying off??
    I had a good week - I lost another 1.5 which isn't much but I'll take it.
Last week my dr diagnosed me w/divurticulitis (hiss...boo) so I think that the 4 plus the 1.5 is due to cutting out all the "nuts". I have to say that I miss berries and raw veggies but I will be able to add these items back in a little at a time. Seems like being the queen of greens caught up with me

Hope everyone has a good week -
  • Hi everybody ,
I'm like a human yo yo , week before last I gained , last week I lost 2.8 , this week I gained 2.7 I think . Today i'm journaling for the first time in a long , long time . Even though I know it's crutial , for some reason I have a hard time doing it . The first two years I did it faithfully .
Welcome spazzykc . I'm sure your next weigh in will be better . I know how wonderful it felt for me to get out of the "three's" , so I can understand your feelings . Just keep at it .
Last week was crazy . I spent the 16th at Mary Bridge childrens hospital from 9-3:00 . Christopher , my 7 year old grandson , who i'm raising , has been diagnosed with high functioning Autism . He was previously diagnosed with ADHD , so I don't know if he has that or not . (His sister definately has ADHD) . So I have been trying to get info on-line . Unfortunately alot of the so called professional sights contradict each other . Now his daycare provider thinks he diabetes , because he goes to the restroom alot , all of a sudden . I have noticed that , but I think it's from not drinking enough water & getting oversensitive . He hasn't been extra thirsty . I have an appt. for tomorrow afternoon , just to be sure . Better to be safe .
Two good things about this time of year are YARD WORK ! And fresh fruit . Yum !
Have a good week . Kathy
  • Hi ladies,

    Not much time to post.

Houndlvr - Good for you. Keep it up!

Kathy - My brother has two of his three kids with ADD or ADHD - emotional/chemical problems of some sort. Its very hard on him so I can only imagine how hard it must be for you two. More importantly, its hard on the kids. I'll keep you in my prayers. Take care of you too!

    Have a good day tomorrow!
  • Thanks for the encouragement
Kathy and Terri.. thanks for the words of welcome and encouragement. It's been a good week. I'm <gasp> exercising!! I joined Curves, and have gone religiously. It feels so GOOD.

Kathy - autism has quite a spectrum, and there are some wonderful resources and groups out there. (((hugs))) It's always hard to hear that one of our children's children are having problems.

    :::Off to find water:::

  • hi!
Hi everyone! Well, I'm new here and still trying to figure out the best place to post! : ) I have (ideally) about 100 pounds to lose. But, I am not even thinking about that right now. I just want to get to where I am healthy again! I am doing WW (not for the first time, of course!) But, I love boards like these and I'm hoping that by checking in with you girls I can stay on track this time!! : )

    Thanks!
  • Good evening!

    What a gorgeous day today!

DH and I are doing the South Beach Diet. We're on day 4 of phase 1. I AM hungry which I'm not quite sure why when you're supposed to be not hungry and satisfied. I'm wondering if its because I'm doing this and still keeping my points within the WW range plus exercising somewhat. This feeling isn't all that unsual because I feel this way whenever I start being really focused.

I tried to ride my bike tonight and did only 20 minutes. Not enough stamina. Hopefully, my body will adjust and if not, I either have to lay off the exercise (except dog walking) until I can add back some of the good carbs or go ahead and add back some now.

So far, I have lost about 4 pounds.

Karen - Curves! I hear lots of good things about Curves. Good for you! Just hang onto how good it feels whenever your motivation dips low. It will be well worth it.

Julygirl - Welcome to the group. Hope you stay in touch. Good luck with your efforts. Hey, I live in the KC area too! So you know how gorgeous today was! I have done WW several times myself. I lost almost 30 pounds 9 years ago and then quit. Gained it back with a bunch of its friends. I've rejoined several times and have not gotten past the 10 pound loss until this time. I am determined to to stick with it this time. I'm doing the SB twist because I wanted to get past this point of plateau this time. (Also doing it for DH's diabetes). Then I hope to level back off and lose consistently. Are you doing any exercise?

DH is working on dinner so I better go help. Have a great evening!
  • Hi everyone!

I am new here and hoping I can join in! : )

My name is Lauren and I'm 30, and single (but dating my darling BF two years this Oct. ) I live in Kansas City (Terri, I saw that you are from Missouri -- what part?) I am a graphic designer, and also do freelance design and other artwork on the side.

I have been battling my weight my entire adulthood and have done WW countless numbers of times, some more successful than others. I am back at it again for six weeks, and have to make a confession: I am UP a pound from where I started. I didn't even know that was possible! But, with that said I did lose 1.2 this week (I weighed-in last night). And I am ready to get back on track. No more foolin' around or excuses for me! I have 100 pounds to lose, but am not even thinking about that right now! I just want to get healthy. I have PCOS and must get it under control, especially if I want to avoid diabetes, be able to get pregnant someday, and just be the person I know a really am!

I am so glad that you all are here! It's great knowing that I'm not alone.

I hope you don't mind me poppng in whenever I get a chance!
  • OOPS! I forgot I already introduced myself earlier today -- DUH! I just remembered thinking on my way home "I need to post on that thread" and not checking again to see that I must have already done it today at work. I am really not as flaky as I must seem!

Terri -- what part of KC? I live on the Plaza and wrk downtown. I am doing Jazzercise (when I actually go!) in Mission. I also try to walk (yes, it's a beautiful day!) and I play tennis too. Which WW are you going to?

OK, sorry again for repeating myself!
  • Lauren - I live in Blue Springs and work in Overland Park (College & Metcalf). I go to WW here in Blue Springs every other Saturday morning.

I love bike riding and am trying to get my stamina back so that I can ride the Little Blue Trace trail out by Independence Center and the Katy Trail at either Sedalia or Columbia - or both!

    Good to meet someone local!
  • Yes, it is nice to meet someone local! : ) I am curious, why do you go every other week? I sometimes wonder if weighing every week is a good idea or not. Kinda makes you obsess over the numbers, rather than the bigger picture and bigger goal at hand.

I did once ride my bike on the Katy Trail. It was fun! Over Memorial Day Weekend I went to San Francisco with my girlfriends and we rented bikes and rode across the Golden Gate Bridge! It was SO cool! I have been thinking of buying a bike for myself for my birthday. I think it's a fun way to get a workout!

    Goodnight everyone! Happy Friday!
  • Hello ladies!

The weekend is slipping away much too quickly.

Yesterday was our church's ladies ministry meeting and luncheon. I was apprehensive about the food since we're doing this no high-sugar carb thing. But, I skipped past the sandwiches and desserts and took fresh veggies, fresh fruit, a breakfast quiche and some veggie pizza. It was all very good food and I was very happy with myself for making the smart choices - and for recognizing that yes, I can be satisfied without all the other food.

After that, we went to Lowe's and ended up looking at patio furniture for our deck. We found what we wanted but couldn't find anyone to help us so we left and went to another Lowe's. We didn't have trouble finding help; just took them a very long time to get it down and outside for us. Geez, that little shopping trip took almost four hours. I was pooped after that and was lazy.

Today is not looking much more energetic. I need to be working on laundry and bills and should also be outside weedeating. I like to be lazy on Sunday afternoons!

Julygirl - I used to go to WW every week and have started and stalled on WW several times over the years. My whole focus became WI day and what the scale would say. My focus should have been on planning, journalling, making smart choices - and I wouldn't have had to worry about WI day. But nope, I only frustrated myself. This time around, I decided to do the Flexible plan in an effort to make my focus on doing the right behaviors. So far its helped me.

Well, I better get busy and do something.

Have a great Sunday afternoon! Hello to everyone else!
  • Hi everyone ,
Welcome Lauren . I think it's better to lose for our health . Looking good is a nice side affect of weight loss , but our health is more important . It doesn't take much before you feel it , either . I had only lost 30 pounds & my cholesterol went down over 70 points .
I bought a points calculator . I've bought them for for other people & never bought one for myself . I thought it might give me a new perspective . So far so good .
Karen , you are right . Autism has a broad spectrum . I'm used to ADHD , and I work with Autistic people , but they are ******ed . So , this is new to me .
Have a great week . Kathy
  • Hello! Helllooooo!

Getting awfully quiet in here. I've been trying to make more time away from the computer to be productive around the house and exercise.

Doing well with food. I know I'll have a good WI on Saturday. Feeling great except for the summer allergies. Makes me want to sleep all the time.

Kathy - Enjoy the calculator. Anything to help us stay motivated and keep the food in perspective.

Have a great Thursday. I'm really looking forward to three days away from work.
