Question Help with restaurant menu

Hi all,

I am going out tonight to watch a hockey playoff game (Let's go Islanders!).

We are going to a sports bar/restaurant that is filled with food that will be high in points. I planned ahead and still have ALL of my daily and weekly points to spare (although I don't plan on using them all if I can help it).

I was looking over the menu in advance and having trouble picking the best item. Can someone please help with this? I'm still new to WW and haven't yet gotten the full hang of disecting menu items in a restaurant.

I do not like any kind of seafood. Also, I want to actually enjoy the meal so please don't suggest a salad item lol.

Thanks so much

Easy. Caesar salad wins hands down. I'm not WW, but I'd estimate 300 calories.

Add chicken and it would be about 500.

Oops, but you don't like salads!

Oriental chicken with coleslaw perhaps?

I was looking at the oriental chicken, thanks!

I love salad, but this is a "big night out" so I want to get something really yummy, I'll save the salads for when I'm home lol

I definitely suggest you purchase the Dining Out Companion. I have a copy in the house and I plan on getting a copy for my purse. It's so helpful. It has chain restaurants in it, but there is a section for restaurant food, non chain and a section for ethnic foods.

And 8 Oz Sirloin in 8PP, so I would have picked the 8 Oz filet Mignon, depending on the sides (it doesn't list them...). Maybe the Chicken fajitas. A generic tortilla is 3PP. You build your own, so you determine how light or heavy you go on the cheese, sour cream, etc. 1/4 Mexican cheese is 4PP. The veggies are only a few points (cooked in oil, you could even ask for it cooked without oil) and white chicken meat is generally 1 PP for every 1 ounce. The Oriental Chicken would make my list too. A small order of fries is usually 10-12PP, so you could get the grilled chicken sandwich with fries also.

The thing about eating out and enjoying it is planning, asking for what you want and don't want and relaxing! And don't eat it if it didn't come the way you asked! It's probably too late, but maybe that will help for next time!

Ok, I ordered it and it was delicious! For my choice of potato I asked for sweet potato fries.

We are still here (on my cell). I asked the waitress to please check how much chicken I was served, if she can, in terms of weight. She came back and said it was 800 calories plus the sweet potato fries. Any idea how to calculate the calories into points?

There is not an exact formula to convert calories to points, but I think 1 WW point is about 50 calories

Suz151- Scroll down a bit and look for the hands. That's a good way of estimating portion sizes when you don't have a scale or measuring cups.
