I'm so confused as to which one to get! The negative reviews of the AL have put me off a bit, but Im so conflicted. Money is pretty tight for us, so I'd like to get the best possible thing without having to buy something else.
I use a pedometor right now as all I really do is walk, but the other day it told me I burned 726 calories on a 3 mile walk. I wish. I have yet to track any activity points because I don't want to overestimate. If also like to start adding in a few different thing to get rid of this massive belly.
What do you guys use? Any suggestions or thought are greatly appreciated!
I love my ActiveLink and was hesitant after reading the reviews. It was by far the best decision I made. I have a HR monitor too, but I never use it now that I have my AL.
A lot of people track calories as well as points, so I can see why they'd like the fitbit, pedometer, hrm, etc. I only track points and the AL only tracks points. It's perfect for me!
(Sorry, today seems to be my day for busting in on other people's threads, lol.)
SoMuchFattitude: My evaluation week ended yesterday but I have a question I can't seem to figure out, maybe you would know (and maybe it would help the OP too). When the lights on my ActiveLink get to 100%, does that mean I have hit my baseline or the actual challenge goal for the day?
For everyday "activity" and just kicking around I've been wearing a Nike FuelBand and secretly I've become totally addicted to it... I find myself walking and moving around a lot more so I can make my fuel "goal" for the day... and as far as steps and distance covered it seems pretty accurate... but I definitely think it probably overestimates calories burned for the most part.... But when I run and bike I wear HRM's with GPS so I get accurate distances covered and a more accurate estimate of calories burned... But I don't make myself too crazy in trying to convert everything I do into AP's...
So if it was just walking, personally I know I wouldn't go to the trouble to put on the chest strap that you have to wear with a HRM just to get a better estimate of calories burned... But if you're going to use it for other stuff like aerobics or things like that than it might be worth it...
forkeeps ~ The 100% is for the goal. Even if the lights are only lighting up 2-3 of the bars, you still will receive some activity points for that, just not the full goal number.

Thank you so much! That makes sense. After my 3 mile run/walk this morning I already hit 100%, yay! But I have been very sedentary, so any activity at all is a lot for me.
I just started WW again and I use a HRM cause I was counting calories and started running... I really like the idea of this active link but I don't want to have to pay a monthly fee for it
I use both a Fitbit and an ActiveLink. I like the much greater information I get from the Fitbit. I do have a HRM which I use when I am using my rowing machine. I will probably drop my ActiveLink subscription at some point since finding out how many APs I've earned is very unimportant to me (I don't eat them any way) while finding out how much of a calorie deficit I have is very important to me.
The thing, though, is to use whatever will motivate you the most. Somuchfattitude is motivated by using the ActiveLink so it is great for her. Me? I found the AL interesting, but it never motivated me. I got a Fitbit a month ago and I have been much motivated by it so it is a better choice for me. Others may find that they are motivated more by the HRM. (I like the HRM for certain things, but to me it complements the Fitbit rather than replacing it).
