Default Whole Foods and WW Help Please

I am trying to eat more whole foods while doing WW. I am a sweets addict. I have noticed that a lot of whole foods are higher in points than their "light" "rf" "ff" counterparts but I am trying to steer away from processed food and altered items.

So, does anyone have some good ideas for me? The other thing is...I LOVE ranch. I need a ranch alternative.

I have been eating steel cut oats with banana and nuts for breakfast, usually meat, veg for lunch (sometimes a sweet potato or something also), and dinner is usually meat, veggies, etc. For snacks I have been doing fruit and sometimes fruit with cottage cheese. I am getting tired of the same stuff though....

Also, I noticed the past couple of times that I ate an apple, I was starving afterward! What's that about?

Thanks!
I have about 50 lbs to lose to get to my ultimate goal weight. I am 5'1" and currently weigh 176. (Thought I would share those stats to let you all know where I am).

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

I eat essentially only whole foods when possible. I stay clear of the processed cr@p because I feel like cr@p when I eat it.

I make my own ranch with low fat buttermilk, greek yogurt and sour scream - vinegar, pinch of sugar, fresh chives, garlic, parsley, etc.

I'm sure you were starving after just an apple because it's just a carbohydrate that'll spike you're blood sugar. Try combining it with a piece of cheese.

I typically have a protein shake for breakfast, plain greek yogurt, agave and granola for a snack, a huge salad w/ roasted chicken for lunch, hummus and veggies for a snack and then a protein/whole grain/veg for dinner.

I eat low sugar, whole foods, organic, and try to stay away from the processed stuff.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about the cheese with the apple. I'll try that. And thanks for the ranch....I'll have to make it.

What kind of granola do you eat? I love it and everything that I have looked at so far is super high in points! I only get 26 per day so I am very conscious at what I eat.

I only eat whole foods too, including full fat everything. I made the switch to whole foods before just a couple weeks before WW and I was loving it.

After I joined WW, I was afraid when I first started calculating points for my stuff, but I've actually been very satisfied. I think I was just not in control of portions and that's what WW is teaching me.

Usually my afternoon snack is cut up veg with hummus. Hummus comes in lots of different flavors too so you can switch it up. It's 4PP+ for 2 Tbls, but I don't let myself double dip and I cut the veg up skinny so it can't really hold too much and it seems to last pretty long. (Plus I end up eating a lot more veg that way!).

I agree about adding cheese to your snack apple. Anything something doesn't seem to be filling me up, it always helps to add some fat (or protein). You kind of have to play around with it to see which works better for you.

For me, I want to be healthy (and thin!), so I am willing to trade lots of processed low points stuff for not as much whole foods and I am much happier with that decision!

Avery - I buy a local brand from Whole Foods. It's literally four ingredients: steel cut oats, cinnamon, walnuts and brown sugar.

lindalee9 - I buy the Sabra brand and it's 2pts for 2tbsp and 4pts for 1/4c.

SoMuchFattitude - So is mine! I messed up in the post because I used to eat 1/4 c and then switched to 2 Tbls, but in my head was still thinking it was 4. Whoops! BTW - I've been reading your blog - it's really good!
