There is no monthly fee on it... but its $95. I am just not sure if I am at that point in my activity to need to spend money on a doo-dad. You know? It's just as important for me to get up and do something.

I like the ActiveLink because it transfers activity into points, it syncs with your tracker, etc. I do believe you'd have to be a WW member for it to work. (Not sure if you are or not.) It lights up through out the day to let you know where you are for the day with your activity. Waterproof, too. It $5/month, but so far, totally worth it in my opinion. I plug it into my computer and it tells me how active I've been, when I've been active, etc. It logs my AP points. It's been really encouraging for me to see that I'm only at 25% of my goal and then being competitive like I am, choosing to get up and go walk for 5 minutes away from my desk. So far - so good. :) I like seeing that I've met 150% of my goal for activity at the end of the day!

Oh - I've had heart rate monitors out the @ss, but I love this by far the best.

chickadeee55 02-13-2013 04:30 PM

Hi everyone, I am having a bad day. And I think it may be what I ate for dinner last night. Tuesday's is church night for me, and they serve a meal, it is usually a tossed salad with lots of dressing on it (pre dressed) then they have a hot dish and a side, usually bread, then beverages and tons of desserts already set out on your table, so you look at them all the while you eat.
Well, last night they have some kind of pasta in I think heavy cream of something soup with chucks of beef in it. Plus the salad plus a small dish of a fruit dish dessert. Today, I felt like I gained 10 lbs. And to tell you the truth before today, I actually felt like I lost more weight than the scale is telling me.
It is hard not to eat at these functions, so I figured fine, that will be part of my extra points for the week. But today I felt awful about it and to top it off, I was real hungry all day.
I am trying to keep a good mindset about this, and just forget it and keep going like nothing is wrong. I guess I just needed to write it somewhere. I was back on track today except for a bad case of the munchies - which I did satisfy with WW snacks.
Hope tomorrow is a better day.

roxannestags 02-13-2013 07:10 PM

myfavisblue: lucky you! when I don't track, I gain! lol. Congrats on the loss. Good job on those workouts!

gooch: ok those things sound VERY good. I wouldn't have been able to resist one either. Smart idea to cut it up to have it last longer! Red Lobster is my favorite resteraunt

forkeeps: hugs. hope things get better for you

brettnlaurnsmommi:welcome. making the first steps are so hard. good job!

so much fattitude: i got my activelink too but after getting it into the little plastic clip I can't get it out! Your dinner sounds so good!! I might have to try blue cheese vinagrette. I love blue cheese but the points in that, GAH! I LOVE the PB2. Had it on celery last night at work. Good stuff!

Smashlers: I like the idea that I am not guessing on my activity points. I eat my activity points so I really don't want to guess on them. Plus I am a naturally lazy person, so I thought that it would motivate me to be more active. I just put mine on yesterday. Would be more happy if I could get the dumb thing out of the little plastic clip it comes in for hooking on my bra!

chickadee: when I am hungry ALL my willpower goes out the window. I love desserts so would have had a hard time resisting. Best thing about WW though is that it is easy to get back on plan. Don't beat yourself up about it. We all struggle a little.

Sent dh to the store for groceries. Do any of you use emeals? Their portion control section has meal plans with WW points! Makes meal planning so much easier! I also told him to pick up more celery for my PB2!

I swear I am going to get a sign for my door that says Day Sleeper, Don't Knock! Someone knocking on the door woke me up twice! Both times by the time I get up and get dressed, are not there! Gah!

smashlers 02-13-2013 08:21 PM

Chickadee It might be a stretch but... could you ask the folks that make the dinner each week to leave you some plain salad? and then if its is consistently a pasta type meal, maybe just less on the pasta and double up on the sauce? From what I remember there is a cost for these meals. You should leave feeling good not icky!!! If there is anything I have learned about WW and eating out, its that you can't be shy in these situations if you want a loss. My leader says people at restaurants see her coming! :p

RoxanneStags & SoMuchFattitude I have been looking at the Fitbit (the new one that is a bracelet) and the Jawbone Up.... I want to have those controls. I am a sucker for infographics. I think I am going to set myself a goal, and then once I get there (assuming I still want this thing) I will buy it for myself.

Tomorrow I weigh! We will see!! I keep seeing that pizza I ate. It's taunting me. lol
I have 1hr and 50mins of activity logged (14pts) so I am hoping that does this body good tomorrow. Drinking lots of water tonight!

gooch100 02-14-2013 07:08 AM

I am so excited this morning. I have hit my 5%. I had a big swoosh. So now I am down a total of 15.4 since January 7. Yup, that darn exercise is the key for me. The loss is making the early mornings less awful.

Now to schedule a pedicure for myself this weekend to celebrate. :-D

forkeeps 02-14-2013 08:50 AM

gooch, congrats, that is wonderful!! Keep up the great work.

Thanks, everyone, for the support this week. I still feel like I'm in a rut, but it seems to be getting better. Tonight is my weigh in, keeping my toes and fingers crossed! And Saturday is my 5k race. I will actually get a medal this time, though just a participation medal. It is the last race in a series of four that started last spring. If you signed up for all for at once, then actually ran them, you get a medal. Yay!.

Have a great day, everyone!

gooch100 02-14-2013 08:59 AM

Forkeeps - Thanks! I am quite excited and reaching this mini-goal helps to keep me inspired. Good luck on your race and on getting that medal. I am impressed om running in 4 races since my motto is "run only when chased!" :D

Ha! That's funny. And it reminds me of my next race. There are zombies in it! They chase you and try to take some flags that you wear, and depending if you have any flags left at the end, determines what kind of medal you get. I'm signing up as a runner, and my husband is signing up as a zombie. :D

roxannestags 02-14-2013 10:22 AM

Smashlers: I looked at the fitbit too. Good pricing for that one. Hope the weigh in goes well today!

Gooch: Congrats!!!!! That is awesome!!

forkeeps: I'll cross my toes and fingers for you as well!

I am having a hard day today. It's Valentines day and I want chocolate! And not just a piece! I want a WHOLE BOX!!!! sigh....I think I will go to bed before I do myself harm!

ade903 02-14-2013 02:58 PM

Happy Valentine's day!! Hope you all are finding good alternatives to all the temptations today! I've decided to avoid going anywhere besides transporting the kids to and from school and driving through for their dinner.

I went to my first WW meeting (this time) yesterday. I really liked the leader. I was planning on trying different ones, but I think I'll stick to her. I didn't weigh in because I had done so on Monday when I signed up. I ended up splurging on the deluxe kit (or something like that). It came with a Success workbook. I love it. I'm already through two chapters. The first had to do with preparing for the journey. Activities included drawing a picture of how you see yourself now and then how you see yourself at goal, taking measurements, writing about your strengths, writing your success story, writing a letter to yourself, and creating a motivation collage. I actually really enjoyed it. It's a concise place to seek out when my motivation starts to waver. The second chapter had to do with motivation and contained a bunch of tools to use as motivation decreases. The whole kit was good, but that book alone was worth the $50.

We've decided to get drive through for dinner tonight (my 5 year old is having a hard time going from his processed meat diet he grew up on [with his mother] to my vegetarian cooking. They have been with us 5 months now and the process he is making deserves some familiar foods here and there) to give the kids a break from my cooking. I've already decided to make my own dinner and have a spicy chick'n boca patty (4pts) on a sandwich thin type bun (not the same brand...this one is 2pts). Yum!

I also bought jicama at the grocery store last week. I was craving french fries so I sliced it up into fry sized pieces, tossed it with 1 tsp olive oil, 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast, salt, and onion powder. Similar to this: http://www.juliedaniluk.com/recipes/...ama-fries.html. It ended up being 2 points per serving (four servings total). It's definitely a lot different than french fries, but it hit the spot for me (it's a raw recipe, btw).

somuchfattitude - I'm glad you are liking the activelink. I might save it as a reward for myself when I hit my 5% or 10%.

smashlers - hope your weigh in went well!!

gooch - congrats on hitting your goal! You definitely deserve the pedi.

forkeeps - crossing fingers and toes!! and good luck on your race! I've always wanted to do a 5k. I've just never had the courage.

roxannestags - I know what you mean! I'm a sucker for fruity candy...and I don't want a normal person's serving...I want the king size bag...and I want to eat it all. Bleh! We can do this! Don't deprive yourself too much...it might lead to a binge. Can you think of anything that would satisfy you?

smashlers 02-14-2013 03:30 PM

Only lost 1 lb. I was kinda pis*ed because if it would have been .8 more I would have been at a solid 20lbs lost, and got another 5 lb star sticker. But it was obvious nothing big was going to happen... considering the beer and pizza moment. :o

The meeting was pretty interesting today. My goal for the week is to weigh and measure better, and my goal for the month is to stay active and really get in the groove of exercising 4 times a week. I got an app on my phone that is like a calendar that you check off the date everytime you've done something (or not done something).... Whatever keeps me going I guess....

how did everyone else that weighed today do?

gooch100 02-14-2013 04:35 PM

Smashlers-Congrats on your loss! Pretty impressive since you weren't in the optimum environment to stay on track last weekend. You know that sticker will be yours next week!!

I passed my 5% today (which is thriling) and my goal is to get on the bike 4 times a week and do the Bow Flex once. Now onto my next mini-goal: Meet my Feb weight loss goal. 3 lbs more to lose and plenty of time to get there!

I have actually scheduled morning appointments on my calendar so I can't say I don't have the time.

roxannestags 02-14-2013 06:15 PM

Ade: I ended up eating an extra serving of chicken this morning because I was hungry (which was not helping the chocolate craving). Then I allowed myself 2 servings of some dark chocolate truffles I have stashed. They were 11 points for 8 truffles. A trifle high, but worth it. I decided that I really didn't want to deprive myself or it would lead to a binge later.

Smashlers: I would be frustrated too at being that close! However, the fact that you still lost as well as kept a lid on your eating when it would have been way easy to over indulge...it deserves a star

Gooch: Good idea on the scheduling!

Roxanne - whose beagles decided she needed to be up. I am going back to sleep

Chele615 02-14-2013 06:20 PM

For those of you talking about the Fitbit, I have one and really like it!!! Very small and discreet and I love checking it throughout the day. I don't have an Active Link, but I feel like they are very similar devices...they just track activity differently. Their customer service is exceptional too!!! The first one I had stopped charging less than a month after I bought it. They sent me a replacement one when I emailed them about it and it's still going strong!! (It's me that has been slacking ;) )

One more day of work and then I am on winter break for a week!!! It's kind of funny how excited I am for February break since we just had two snow days due to the blizzard this week, but I'll take it!!! I am going to visit my friend for about half the week and we're going to hit up some Zumba classes. I think I might have packed more workout clothes than regular clothes! haha

straightahead 02-14-2013 09:24 PM

Where do you guys get PB2?

Today could have been dangerous for me! I didn't get enough sleep and woke up with a headache, so I had a day of cravings (carbs and fat). I went to the vending machine at work and almost got cookies...but the vending machine wouldn't accept my coins! Thank goodness! Then I got bad stuff on my mind for dinner... like Papa Johns pizza or Taco Bell with sour cream....however, I went to Zumba and came home and made a more manageable Lean Cuisine Pizza and salad. Amazingly stayed within my 29 points today. I am trying to save my weekly points for this weekend; I am visiting family, so it will be harder to manage my eating since I won't be cooking...I am taking green beans and whole wheat pasta salad to the gathering though, so I know there will be something healthy

Does anyone else face days/weeks when they crave dairy? This week, I have been eating, like 3 string cheeses per day, cheese with my dinner (like on my LC or yesterday I had pizzadillas),and a yogurt for breakfast... and then I am craving more dairy (chocolate milk, sour cream, pizza). I must be lacking something. I am staying within my points, but I know I am not supposed to have this much dairy and need to stop..yiikes

Congrats on those who have lost weight this week -smashlers, gooch, anyone I missed!

forkeeps 02-14-2013 09:32 PM

ade903: I got that kit least week too, and I like the Success workbook. I also use the measuring cups and the points calculator. Which bag did you get? I got red. Wish it had handles, but that's my only complaint so far.

smashlers: You'll get there next week! You are doing great. :) I thought the meeting was good too. I don't always weigh or measure my food, often I estimate, especially meat. I have a little food scale, I should dig it out again to see how close I estimate.

I am down 3.6 at tonight's weigh in. I am very happy with that. Got a 5# sticker, my first one.

I am going to change to Saturday weigh ins and meetings. Is it easy to change your date online? When should I do it, now or next Saturday?

The active link is intriguing. I am thinking about it, but need to wait to save a little money first.

roxannestags 02-15-2013 01:08 AM

Chele: Have fun with the Zumba classes

Straightahead: I ordered mine from amazon! I don't cravae dairy but I love cheese and will eat that often.

forkeeps: congrats on the loss!!

I went 11 points into my weekly points today. I had a little bit of chocolate that put me a few points over but then my twins brought me home a box of chocolate. It was a small one with 3 pieces but I wasn't going to not eat the chocolate when they pooled their money to get everyone a treat. Sweet girls. It was 8 points though! 8 of my dark chocolate truffles were only 11 points. I was shocked. Anyway, the extra points were well spent.

I had a NSV today. I put on an outfit tonight that has been tight on me and it fits well! It's also a size smaller than what I have been wearing.I felt good.

Speaking of scales, how on earth do you have a 5lb fluctuation in ONE DAY? Less than a day actually. Yesterday before work, the scale showed 5 lbs more than it did this morning.

Well off to work.
Roxanne

Daimere 02-15-2013 01:39 AM

My husband bought me a new scale which makes me feel better cause I don't feel like I'm precariously standing on it. And I kinda put it in perspective. I have lost 13 pounds since January, whereas a girl that started the same as me, lost 4 lbs and then gave up (restarted again, probably gave up, etc). At this rate, I will be able to be 212 by December. He kinda seemed like he kinda had a look on his face like "wow."

geekmadre 02-15-2013 03:43 PM

Roxanne- I use EMeals! I love it! I have had it for a long time and I was using the Classic Meals. When I saw they had a WW plan, it inspired me to try WW again. For $28 a year, it is so worth it.

Well, I have been stuck for a few days. The scale won't move. I did use some weekly points on Wednesday for 2 beers. I do trivia every Wednesday at a bar and we won a pitcher. I was actually good on Valentine's Day. We stayed in. I even made some 1 point chocolate covered strawberries. I am trying to stay positive. Hopefully I will be down on Wednesday for my weekly WI. My first mini goal was to be in the 220s for my husband's birthday on February 25. 6 pounds in 10 days is a bit of a stretch.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Alyssa

chickadeee55 02-16-2013 07:24 AM

Today is weigh in and I don't feel it will go well.

gooch100 02-16-2013 07:50 AM

Eergh! We went out for Chinese last night with my parents and, oh my, I have the salt bloat today. My rings are so tight this morning. I did stay on plan/within my daily points and drank about a gallon of tea and water but wow, it is amazing how salty it is. Guess that is why it tastes SO good. :D

Here's hoping it disappears before Monday's WI.

forkeeps 02-16-2013 10:35 AM

chickadee: Keeping my fingers crossed. Let us know how it goes. :)

gooch: Yikes, Chinese is salty for sure. You should be fine by Monday.

We went to Olive Garden last night. I did pretty well and made some wise decisions. I am not a fan of pasta at all, nor cheese really, so I was able to stay away from the worst options with ease.

Oh, and I found out (luckily in time) that my race is tomorrow, not today. So I guess I'll run a mile today then do the big one tomorrow. :)

How is everyone else doing this weekend?

gooch100 02-16-2013 10:47 AM

I just had to share Dance Party on the Xbox Kinect is a workout!

DH and I have been playing and sweating for the last hour or so. We each dance for about 15 minutes and then let the other take a turn. It definitely gets the blood pumping and the heart rate up.

I am definitely earning those activity points today. Though I have sadly learned that this carrot :carrot: has better rhythm than I do. :D

chickadeee55 02-16-2013 01:14 PM

Well, I gained .6 lbs, I knew it. Don't understand it, but I knew it. I was on plan all week, used some of my bonus points - so maybe that is what did it.

I have this bad mindset about exercise and I have to get over it. I did buy the Active Link(thanks ladies for all your comments on it), so here is hoping that gets me moving.

The sun is shining today with a brisk 15 degrees outside here. Hope everyone continues to do well and can enjoy the weekend. I am going shopping for some butterfly fabric this afternoon for a baby quilt, that will make me feel better.

forkeeps 02-17-2013 10:17 AM

Well, I finished the 5k without stopping to walk, which is always my goal though I don't always achieve that. My time was the usual, around 44 minutes. I can't decide the worst part, the fact that I had to get up at 6am or the fact that it was 25 degrees outside! The best part is my exercise is done for the day.

Yay gooch! That sounds like a lot of fun. And your carrot comment cracked me up. :)

chickadee: I hope you enjoy the active link. I am considering getting it too. And you're a quilter? That is so impressive. It's something I've always wanted to try. Hope you have fun!

chickadeee55 02-17-2013 11:23 AM

Well, I am going to confess, yesterday after my not so good weigh in and after I went fabric shopping, my DH wanted to go out for a delayed Valentine dinner and we went to his Chinese Buffet place. Yikkes.

I am paying for it today, I figured I used all my bonus points for the week so I am over that, but I cannot believe how awful I feel today. I want so bad to feel as good as I felt Friday before even weigh in day.

I think I need a refresher course on how WW works, I don't think it was ever explained to me other than points, here is the book. If I eat a salad for dinner, can the salad be as big as the dinner plate wtih lots of extra veggies and a portion of protein? Or do I have to watch the portion size of a salad, I know I have to watch the dressing used. I find I eat more carbs on WW, I never use to eat bread everyday, now I do (one slice or thin slices) So, now I think I need to sit back and look at this process closer, not give up, but I feel I am missing something. (Or is it the exercise part.) Sorry, to go on and on.

smashlers 02-17-2013 12:34 PM

Chickadee You were walking and moving more that you had been. right? Perhaps you have some water issues going on. I know when I started moving around I didn't have a huge loss that first week. I think the beauty of WW is that you will have another shot at a happy weigh in the next week. Keep doing what you are doing. If you didn't eat bread before... don't mess with it. I wasn't big on bread before I started, and I don't push myself to eat it now. I guess my biggest point is to not be hard on yourself. Just keep going! On salads, I usually just track something generic like "Garden Salad" and put in portion size (2 cups, or whatever), adding anything that will cost me points.

chickadeee55 02-17-2013 02:08 PM

Thank you for your comments, I got my chin up, today is a new day.

Is there a recommended amount of water to drink daily?

Chickdee - re: water. I try to drink 8 8-oz glasses a day (64 ozs). Doesn't always happen but that is my target.

I am making a delish dinner tonight and only 6.5 points per serving.

Salsa Verde Enchiladas

1 jar Trader Joe's salsa verde - 1.2 pts for the whole jar
2 large chicken breasts - mine were a total of 18 oz. - 18 pts
8 low fat high fiber whole wheat large tortillas (1 pakage) - 20 points total
1 jar Trader Joe's enchillada sauce - 4. 5 points for the whole jar
1 cup shredded part skim mozzarella cheese - 7 points

50.7 points for the whole recipe
8 servings (serving size: 1 enchilada) at 6.5 points per serving.

Place chicken breasts in a crockpot
Pour salsa verde over top
Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Shred chicken
Cook on warm for another hour to let the chicken really soak up the salsa verde flavor
Preheat oven to 350.
Place 1/8 of the shredded chicken in the middle one of the tortillas, spreading out so it is in a line. Roll and place in a large rectangular pyrex dish.
Repeat 7 more times. The rolled chicken filled tortillas should fill the pan in one layer.
Pour enchilada sauce over the all the rolled tortillas.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes
After 20 minutes, remove foil and sprinkle with cheese.
Bake another 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes.

myfavisblue 02-17-2013 11:32 PM

Hi guys had my WI yesterday and it was pretty good. Lost 0.8 lbs. Not a big loss but a loss is a loss right? :D
These past few days been working night shifts because been filling out the open night shift slot until they hire new people, so its hard to keep up with the tracking. The usual breakfast turns into late lunch and lunch into late dinner :?:. Its ok though 1 more night shift and I am back to my regular work schedule (evening shift)

chickadeee55 dont worry I have been there and done that. Some days its awesome and some days its bad. But dont worry tomorrow is another day and we just keep moving forward. Smile and let the worries fly away :D

forkeeps good job with the 5K run!! :carrot:

gooch100 that's good to hear you enjoyed it with your DH :)...
shake it shake it mr. :carrot: :)

Have a good one guys!! ;)

SoMuchFattitude 02-18-2013 07:53 AM

Got rid of 1.4lbs this week, while on my period! I'll take it! :) Went for a 3 mile run on Saturday after my WW meeting because I went to a Bachelorette Party with fondue and binge drinking on Saturday night. The portions at the fondue place were smaller than child sized portions. I think I may have had 3 chicken nuggets and a mushroom. So, while the eating certainly didn't do me in weight wise, the lack of eating did do me in regarding drinking. Oh God - I am in such a bad place today...I mean, I have a few on the weekends, but not like Saturday night. I also had run 3 miles earlier that day, forgot my water bottle and was already dehydrated. I still feel terrible today, but I'm not sure if it's because I might be coming down with something or my body still hates me. lol

Bfast
Blue Bran VitaTop w/ greek yogurt + Mixed berries -4pts

Snack
fruit

Lunch
cous cous w/ shaken bake nuggets - 9pts

snack
tbd

dinner
BBQ Chicken, loaded mash potatoes and green beans - 15pts

smashlers 02-18-2013 09:03 AM

bhaha, ^^ Drunky. :dizzy:

SoMuchFattitude 02-18-2013 12:01 PM

smashlers - Dear god, I am too old to drink like that. The bride (a lawyer) is in court today and has had to leave to vomit. Mission accomplished.

myfavisblue 02-19-2013 02:02 AM

smashlers question. How do you know all the points for eating at mexican restaurant? For me its hard to track food espcially if you eat like at a chinese buffet, mexican etc. That's why I always keep myself away from eating at a buffet retaurant :)

roxannestags 02-19-2013 07:51 AM

Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. We had a pretty busy weekend. The kids were at their grandma's for the weekend and we did a lot of home improvement projects (in between watching the first season of Castle! lol)

We ate out all weekend so the weekend was a bust for me for points wise. I have to go weigh today and we will see how it goes.

I was moving a lot more than is normal for me. I think all the bloat is gone that I get from eating out, we will see how it goes. I have seriously got to start doing better! I do fine unless we go out to eat. That's what kills me!

Myfavisblue Well, I am not gonna lie. It is a lot of assumption. I could be totally off. I asked for the "lite" fajita plate, and the guy new exactly what I meant. I know the type of refried beans Mexican places use, the delicious authentic kind with LARD :p So I tracked a half cup of that. The rice.... that I didn't know. It is only a small amount so I aimed at a high point content and said 1/3 of a cup. I worked my butt off that day, and didn't have a margarita (as much as I wanted one). So I think it was effective.

It was a horrible cummute to work this morning - ice and blowing snow. When will Winter be over? :?: I thought the groundhog said Spring was coming!

On the positive, I stayed on plan yesterday, even with a small piece of Costco chocolate cake for my colleagues 20th anniversary with the company. I didn't even need to dip into my APs. Woot!

DH and I made some delish high fiber, dried fruit muffins that ended up being about 3.75 points each. Very filling and helpful with the "regularity." I am still in awe that even with all the veggies (with all their fiber) I am eating, my guts still need a little help to keep things moving. We used a 4 pt /muffin recipe I found on WW (http://www.weightwatchers.com/food/r...recipeid=55581) and modified it to up the fiber (used only whole wheat flour), replaced the vegetable oil with unsweetened applesauce and used half wheat bran and half oat bran. All of which lowered the total points a bit.

Hey Ladies!!

I know I have been MIA again. Tons of family stuff going on(My Uncle is still in the hospital) and classes Mondays and Thursdays. Super stressed out. I haven't been on the plan either. I weighed yesterday and I have gained 2 pounds. Seriously?! I gain weight like its my job. Ugh. And I can tell I have lost weight in some areas but I feel like I am gaining it in others? Is that crazy? How much of a role do artificial sweeteners play in weight gain? Especially around the mid section? Something has got to give. I am back on plan today. I hope you are all doing well. Hopefully I will have time tonight to read back and catch up on what's been happening with you all the last 2 weeks!

I am glad to be back! I am so thankful that there is a place I can go and not feel so alone in this fight. You girls are great!
