Default eTool vs. other web trackers

I just started WW again today after a 3 year hiatus. And I was excited to see that they have eTools and a web tracker. BUT it kinda stinks. Have any of you used MY fit ness pall i conjunction with WW? It seems like the scanner for that later service is free and much much better. Perhaps I need to jsut get used to it, but, WW doesn't recognize any of my veggie cheeses or fake meats. Its annoying.

Are any of you finding work arounds for this? I wish the two services would come together and have a perfect baby.

Hi! I haven't tried My Fitness Pal lately - I thought it was only a calorie counter?

On the WW app, you can put your veggie cheeses etc in as a favorite food, and then when you go to type in the word, it will pull it up. You do have to load them up first, but it's pretty quick after that.

Manufacturers and WW partner for their foods to appear on the Food Tracker. Just find something with similar nuts or do as the above poster suggests. It takes a lot of time to convert calorie trackers to points.

It doesn't take any longer to convert than reading the nutrition information off a physical box of food in the grocery store. You plug the numbers in the same way and like you can with eTools, you are able to save foods or meals to use at a different time. MyFitnessPal is really a great tool for finding nutrition information for items not in eTools.

I'm an online only member and use WW eTools and MyFitnessPal and have for a few months now and it doesn't take any extra time at all.

I use the Daily Plate at livestrong to track calories as well as WW.

That said, on WW for foods that I eat a lot I calculate it once and then save it so the next time I go in it is easy to put it in.

I use my fitness pal, you can customize what nutrition facts you want to track and converting that to points is a snap

If any of you would like to add me as a friend there I use the same user name. would love to follow you all
just send me a friend invite

If you have a fav food or restaurant meal that you would like included, you can email them! They update their website 4 times a year, so it will not be an instant fix, but it's worth the wait.
Email [email protected] and be sure to include grams of fat, carbs, fiber and protien, as well as saturated fat, and sodium and sugar to determine if it's a Power Food.

Me too.

WW tracker is okay, it does the job. But when counting calories I was using "Lose It" which I thought was FABULOUS.

I don't understand why WW tracker doesn't have a scanner in it's app? That's ridiculous to me!

I just saw a commercial that indicated WW has a scanner now....!this maybe a determining factor if I do WW again as opposed to FitPal.... Can anyone confirm?

ladyrider- It sure does. But, I have noticed it doesn't recognize as many barcodes as the fitness pal. I do enjoy the app more now. It has routines you can set and check off each day. It also keeps track quickly and seamlessly of your daily points, additional weekly points, and activity points.

I do wish it was as extensive a food list as fitness pal.

I love the iPhone WW app for tracking. I'm on it so many times per day. I don't use the pic scanner though. Today all of a sudden it won't let me login to the app. I even deleted and reinstalled it. I know my username and pw are correct bc I can login to mobile web. But in the app it says I haven't finished creating my profile. Arghhggggggg

I emailed support.
Just venting here bc I feel lost without the app.
Having a withdrawal.
Wanted to plan pts for this week

UPDATE- it is working new. BIG sigh of relief!

I love the app and the scanner, use them primarily to track. I haven't had too many issues w/products not being available, even many of my vegan foods are already included.

I tried MFP but honestly want to stick to one system/app, trying to keep it simple.

I use the iPhone app Fooducate. It's fantastic!! It has a scanner that recognizes almost every thing I have scanned! I track my points using the iPhone app Pts. Plus Diary. They are both the best tools that I have found for online or app form.
