this thread has been an interesting read.

I saw on FB and overheard some WWers at work talking about the program changing (as someone mentioned it generally does this time of year).

I think it's good that changing behaviors is getting some more emphasis, (I did think hiding the potato salad in the fridge might lead to some science experiments, but I guess it's something I shouldn't be eating anyway ).

I remember eons ago you didn't count additional activity points until you had done your "requisite" 20 mins. of activity. Of course you can adjust the program to fit your individuality, which it sounds like in this thread many are doing.

Thanks for the information and lively discussion, I feel like I learned alot!

That was a one day thing, when all the yummy fresh fruit came into season. and it was basically all I ate that day, that was why I put it in the tracker to see what I had eaten and then figured out how to round it out. It was quite helpful so that I wouldn't go overboard again.

So far the changes seem pretty good, gives focus on other things besides what we eat.

Oh boy, now I'm worried. I love how our meetings are currently. Our leader brings a lot of additional info into our meetings that isn't in the WW material such as which fruit / veggies offer anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins, etc. She also brings a lot of info on local runs, activities, etc. and she's always focused on behavioral changes. I do like that they've computerized the card we used to have to find in the boxes. And what is ActiveLink? I've never even heard of that.

ActiveLink is a device (similar to Fitbit) that measures your activity -- all of your activity. I wear mine around my neck all the time. Basically it sets a baseline for you based upon your age, gender, height, weight. Until you meet your baseline you earn no activity points. Above baseline you earn activity points. You can plug it into a USB port on your computer and see a graph of your activity. It really has been motivating to me (I found I was way more sedentary than I thought I was). It costs $40 to buy and then it is an additional $5 a month.

Truthfully, I don't think so. The "new" program for 2013 is really nothing new. It is basically focusing on behavioral stuff and environment. I do think those things are super important, but I don't think that this is really anything new.
