please help me...

  • hi!! I am having a terrible time staying on program....I am trying to follow the plan on my own...I can't afford to offcially join WW...I have been a member before so I have all the winning points info....I am finding that I am having a hard time staying OP without the meetings. If I could afford to join I would in a heart beat but, I really, really can't afford it...I am so sad. Nothing seems to work for me. I seem to get fatter the more I try to lose...I am an emotional eater also. I don't know where to turn...is there a group online here at 3FC that can help me?
I am so thankful that I have 3FC. I have met such wonderful people here.
  • FT I know I'm not in WW, I just had to sneak in here and give you a ((((hug)))) for encouragement. You'll figure this out, I have faith in you.

  • Have you thought about something like Overeaters Annonymous? There usually are meetings like at churches...they do weighins and have 'spiritual' 12-step program...you follow whatever eating program you want but it would give you the structure of weighing in...most meetings do cost a minimal (less than $5 with no start up) and if you can't afford they do sometimes flex the cost.

Additionally some regions of W/W offer a scholarship program for the financially strapped. Go to a meeting early and ask to speak to a leader about it.
  • Thank-you for your reply...I thought about OA but there is not one around here...I live in a very rural area...I have to even travel 25 miles to go to a WW meeting.
  • Accountability
One of the main reasons that they keep telling me that WW is so successful is because of the GROUP support and the Accountability. For myself, I can tell you that's true. If I know I don't have to check-in with someone each week - then my weight loss becomes not quite as important to me because, so what if I blow it - nobody but me knows. If I know that I'm going to have to report into someone each week, then for some odd reason I tend to 'care' more about being successful. Strange but true! It's also very helpful to have the support and encouragement of others who are in the same boat, or at least on the same journey as we are.

I can also sympathize with you about not being able to afford attending the weekly meetings; although, that certainly doesn't have to be a stumbling block for you if you don't let it.

Do you have any friends, family, brothers, sisters, husband, etc., that would be willing to be your accountability partner? Someone that you could weigh-in with each week? I know that there are lots of clubs and groups on-line, including this site, where you can come for accountability, encouragment, etc., even if you don't have the support of someone close to you at home. You just have to be faithful to tell someone each week - how you're doing, good or bad and make a committment to yourself that you are going to be faithful to your plan, no matter what. I know it can be easier said than done - but, the point is, it CAN be done. There are lots and lots of successful losers on this site who are proof.

If you think you can - you CAN.

    Good Luck.
  • Come join us in the Memorial Day Challenge. We are going to post journals as needed, and we would be more than happy to give you some support! (And a kick in the butt when necessary!) You can pick a day and post your weight loss for the week!
Congrats on the weight you have all ready lost! I know it is hard when $$ is tight- but you can still do it!
  • Find an e-mail buddy if you don't want to post your weight each week. I'd be happy to volunteer. We can send the results of our weekly weigh ins to each other. That makes you a little more accountable. I know that having someone else know my weight helps. I've been doing this over a year so it's obvious that some weeks I just don't care - but I'm consistantly maintaining the losses I've had.
  • thanks Shrewish I would like that.....PM me and I will give you my email addy.....
