Thin4Life - Week of April 21, 2003

  • Good morning everyone!

We had beautiful weather for the Easter holiday--Sunday was summer-like with a high temp of 79! Today it's back to reality with temps hovering in the low 40's and rain. Kinda figures although at least I'm at work.

It was nice having the time off; although on Saturday evening my younger son was the victim of a fly ball at the baseball game he had gone to with his friend and his mom. Needless to say we ended up in the ER and spent 5 hours there (7 pm-Midnight). He has a concussion and is sporting a really black eye. We had an appointment with an eye doctor Easter morning and we have to go back tomorrow afternoon. The eye is still swollen shut. He was lucky in a lot of ways--the ball hit him just above his eyebrow and didn't catch his glasses (they were knocked off and the lense popped out) so he didn't get cut (thank goodness!). He isn't allowed to do much of anything except sit on the couch and relax. The eye doctor said it was important that he just stay quiet so the eye doesn't get more irritated and re-bleed. I didn't get much sleep and my journaling went down the tubes. I'm sure I ate more chocolate than I should have.

I'm back at work this morning and getting back into a somewhat normal routine.

On a good note, I got the actual VHS tapes for WATP and I love it! I actually got up this morning a little before 6 am and did the 2 mile tape and I feel good. I'm the first to admit I'm not an exerciser when it comes to using videos but this isn't so bad and I actually enjoy it. I do work up quite a sweat and I know my heart is pumping good. I'll be curious to see how this helps in getting rid of those Christmas pounds.

So did everyone have a nice holiday?
  • Hiya Melissa!

I wish for your son and you a speedy recovery! Yikes. What a way to spend the weekend.

The WATP tapes sound good. My mom bought them and didn't use them, I'm going to have her send them to me. I'll try anything.

We had a tiring, if not very nice Easter weekend. Had four small ones over on Saturday for a easter egg hunt. They were soo cute and the easter basset was very patient.

Sunday, we had 16 adults and a few small ones for a 200 eggstravaganza hunt and brunch. The weather was nice and we all had a nice time enjoying visiting and eating. I did okay, but the ham sodium is still with me.

Nothing else going on here. Lots of work, trying to get caught up and spending 30 minutes a day trying to declutter again. I have a few bags for the shelter, but man, can we do more.

    Here's to spring!

  • Just thought I'd post an update--I went to my meeting today and was up .4--I'm happy with that considering my journal is blank from Saturday through Monday Back to journaling, drinking my water and somewhat normal of a schedule.

We had our follow up appointment with the eye doc and DS eye is doing better. The eyelid is still swollen and he can't open his eye but the bruising is turning colors now and it isn't all black. He's off school till next week when we see the doctor again. The vision is better too so that's a good thing.

Weather here has regressed--it's a chilly 36 today which feels like winter after the 79 we experienced on Sunday. Forecast is calling for some warmer temps by the weekend. My lilac bush is loaded with blossoms this year and the tulips are ready to start blooming as well. I love Spring!

Hi to Domina, Saskie, Patch, Laurel and anyone else I forgot!
