Default New here, just a hello!

Hi everyone. I'm 47 and have about 100 pounds to lose and Im not really happy about it! I have tried Soutbeach and Atkins and weight watchers about 5 years ago and i couldnt get rid of this weight, though admitly the only one i stuck with for a length of time was atkins but wasnt sucessful. Ironically, I eat really healthy, i dont eat processed foods, i have a large organic garden, i cook everything, no sweet tooth or anything like that - i guess too much of anything is no good for you. So, as i know how to eat healthy and how to prepare food etc i thought Weight Watchers would be able to help me get control over my portions etc as apparently its the only thing i can think of that is keeping me from losing the weight.

Well, I used to exercise, p90x and run etc, but over the last 6 months i have just been so disgusted, the only thing i kept up with is yoga and do that every other day for an hour. I just seem to be so tired and have no ambition to do much of anything else lately, pretty much disgusted here.

I cannot go to meetings though, times are a little tight, so i have read as much as i can. I plan on using the online calculator for points plus and prepare my menu at least 2 days in advance so I am not stuck. Just got back from the supermarket to and today was the first day....i just need a little bit more motiviation. I feel that in the past every time i was so gung ho and then i just gave up. And I cant give up this time, with all this weight to lose, giving up really isnt an option anymore, for my health.

Well, thats it! Glad to have found you all and thank you for sharing so much great information here, it helps!

Welcome! You've found a great place for support! Are you paying for the Weight Watchers online subscription, or are you using a free calculator online?

I was a paying WW member, but I now have a free app on my cell phone (not WW) and I use that instead.

I too have 100+ lbs to lose. It has been a struggle, but the support from people here has made it easier.

Good luck to you on your journey!!!

Welcome! I started WW and my weight loss journey just over a month ago.

My total overall losses that I'm shooting for are somewhere between 60 and 70lbs, but my bigger goal is to be healthy, happy, and fit!

I am currently a paying member (the motivation of cash is good), but I think that after my three months are up, I might go ahead and stop paying, and just use one of the phone apps.

Stick with it, and before no time it becomes second nature. The people here with their successes and hardships are fantastic motivation to keep moving forward with your losses!

Good luck!!

Welcome! I've been on Points+ for 18 months now and love it! I do it online (as a paying member. The cash motivation really is a good one.)

This is a great spot to be, everyone here is super friendly and helpful

swashington!

So jealous of your organic garden!! That sounds fantastic. Since you are not doing meetings, for more support, accountability and ideas- maybe check out some of the support group and sub-categories with your stats (40-somethings, 100lb club, and/or Weight Watchers, etc.)

I don't know if you have already came across this during your research on Points Plus but with Points Plus, be careful of the 0 point fruit and 0 point veggies (especially the starchy ones!) as they have caused a bit of stalls or slow losses. If you go over 5 servings of either/or, count the extras. Same goes with the weekly points, some people cannot lose if they use all of them so you may have to do a bit tweaking to see what works for you. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips Amandie! I got a little pad yesterday and I am writing everything that i eat down with their points. I put down when i have the fruit/veg with a star and i figured if i want more after the 5 stars I have to start counting 1 point. I will have to check out the groups, thanks for that!!

I think I may just not even take in the extra weekly points to start as the 34 points that i had yesterday was way more than enough...especially if you plan it. I made my hubby hide the scale until next tuesday! I got on it this morning like i was expecting some kind of huge weight loss. So ill just weigh in once a week. I just have to get moving - gardening doesnt constitute working out...i used to be such an avid exerciser and i know the yoga isnt enough, so thats my goal for today! Will check out the groups..thanks!

Starchy veggies aren't 0 points, so those should always be counted.

Thanks Tudor! I was using this : justdietnow.com/points-for-vegetables.html I was using it as a guide for what serving of veg/fruit would be (i have portion control issues with vegetables lol). After 5 servings I was calculating one additional point for the non-starch and then using that for the starch.

Like last night i just roasted zuchini, squash and then i threw in about a 1/4 of a sweet potatoe. I still counted one point for the potatoe because even on the chart there it said 1 for a small (the zuchini/squash just put me at my 5 svgs). does that sound right? I know i have to be careful, i let a point creep in here and there and i fail before i even start!

Hi I am new too! Just started ww this week. I have 100lbs to lose also. So far I love feeling in control and tracking what I eat. I also love healthy foods so I guess that is a plus. I also hope ww will help me with portion control.
