I have to admit that I haven't been doing well with my Easter challenge. I lost 2 lb the first week and gained 1.5 the second. I weigh in tonight but my home scale tells me I lost the 1.5 that I gained last week. That's something I guess. But not where I wanted to be by now.

The exercise is back on track. I've worked out almost daily since last Thursday. I had let my weight training slip - I hadn't done any weights for 2 weeks - but that's going well again. At least I'm feeling stronger, even if I'm not losing much. Exercising seems to help me eat better as well. So we'll see what next week brings. My goal for the week is to stay within points, drink more water and journal.

SaskieMom 04-08-2003 11:35 AM

bandit2-Nice work on the exercising! You may even be retaining water due to muscle mass increasing. But if you feel like you are eating too much bread and not enough water you are probably right. It's good that you know what you can do to improve the situation!
Chris- Congrats on getting back at exercising! Let us know how WI goes for you! There will always be more challenges, it is important to do like you said, and get stronger!

I had another fairly bad weekend, I ate like a "normal" person, and as of Monday am my home scale had me up 5#. I journal even through these high days, though, because I know that this cannot be a lifetime way of eating for me unless I do have high days as well as the low!
Even though I ate high on the weekend, I also got tons of walking in. We were away from home from 8:30 am until midnight. I got in many hours of shopping/walking, carrying baby, and rocking and bouncing baby. I did not feel guilty about any extra pts that day!!
There is still a pile of snow and slush left here, but I invested in a weather shield for my stroller, so I think we will give it a go this afternoon.
WI tonight, will not be surprised if I am up- hopefully no more than 2-3#! :D
Have a great day!!

bandit2 04-08-2003 01:55 PM

Chris - Good for you with getting back on the exercise track.
Hope you have a good w/i.

Saskiemom - Good job getting your walks in. We still have snow here too. Last weekend ice everywhere - YUK!
Good luck on your w/i & I think it is important to go to our meetings even if we feel we will be up. A few times I thought I would just skip it since I knew I would be up, but went anyway & sometimes I wasn't up but even if I was I always felt better for going. Good luck :-)

SaskieMom 04-08-2003 05:39 PM

Bandit2-You are so right about going to the meetings. If I didn't have to work at the meeting tonight I would probably just eat whatever and go way over. I didn't go for a walk today, and I am having a lot of trouble getting the enthusiasm up to commit to the program lately.
Oh well, I have almost all my pts left for today, and tomorrow will be a new day. I'll report in later with my WI.

SaskieMom 04-08-2003 11:16 PM

Well, i must have my dd to thank for this week's WI results. Even with the mega off pts weekend and less exercise i still lost 1.2#. I think that puts me almost at my goal for the challenge!!! I hope this will help motivate me to get through a yummy bridal shower tomorrow night!!

chrim32 04-08-2003 11:47 PM

I lost 2 lb. this week. So 2.5 lost for the challenge so far. Another 1/2 lb. and I'll be back where I was a month ago. I'm hoping for 1.5 next week so that I'm in fresh territory and can feel like I'm losing again.

Good job SaskieMom. All that walking sure helps.

Tomorrow I get my body fat measured at the gym. I'm not sure if I want to see the result or not. But it will be interesting to see how my body fat % changes over the next few months.

Is it ever going to be spring??!! I'm so sick of snow and ice.

Judmom 04-09-2003 01:42 AM

I had Wi on April 6th lost 2# so I did have a loss . This week is not going well went op all week so far starting fresh tomarrow one day at a time no guilt get over it move on that is what I keep telling my self. Any way have been doing some form of excercise. at least 30 mins. daily. I have also been drinking a lot of water.
I am not drinking enough still but I am still getting in at least 3- 8 oz glasses daily as apposed to 0 glasses. I am still snacking at night. could this be because I don't drink enough water.
:?:

SaskieMom 04-09-2003 10:18 AM

Chris- Way to go! That will be cool to see how much body fat you lose in the next little while! I wish I had done that, or at least measured my body to see how many inches I lose! Thats really great that you are almost into new territory. Do you go to the gym quite a bit?
Is it still pretty snowy out where you live?
Judmom- Congrats on the great loss! All your hard work paid off! At least you are getting in exercise and increasing water, even if you are struggling with pts. The snacking could be partly caused by not enough water- you may be thirsty but interpret it as hunger. You can try drinking some water before you let yourself eat anything. This will increase your water intake as well as filling you up so there is less room for food!
I used to have a rule that I had to have all my pts in by 9pm- this helped cut back on nightime snacking! I think I am going to implement this rule again!

I got my day off to a great start- went walking before dh and dd were up, with a friend. We are going to try to go whenever possible. There is still snow on the ground, but it should be gone later today. It is already 2 degrees, and is supposed to go up to 21 later today!!!:D I am so pumped!
The biggest obstacle for me today is that I have to go to a bridal shower tonight for a close friend. I know there will be fruit or veggies there, but there will also be other higher pts treats. I am taking taco dip, but plan to use low fat sour cream and cream cheese. I am going to get an extra walk in sometime, and be very careful. I think I will buy carrots to eat while I am making the dip (this is a difficult snacking time for me!) and a big pack of gum to keep my mouth occupied! Also, I will save pts for the evening!
Hope everyone has a great day! Happy exercising!

bandit2 04-09-2003 12:12 PM

Nice losses, ladies & good luck tonight, Saskie with your shower.

Taco dip sounds yummy - what's in it?

SaskieMom 04-09-2003 03:19 PM

Taco Dip

It IS yummy. I did good, not tasting while making it. Then dh came home for lunch and decided to eat the mini dip I made him- I ended up eating ~4pts worth too. i gave him 6" of my sub to compensate!
The dip is:
- base- 8oz light cream cheese, 1 tub light sour cream, 1 pkg taco seasoning blended together
- a layer of salsa
- a layer of green onion, then peppers, then lettuce
- a layer of shredded cheese
Serve with nacho chips!
It really isn't that bad for pts if you make the base layer thin and use only a thin layer of shredded cheese- and lots of finely chopped veggies! :D

chrim32 04-10-2003 01:37 PM

SaskieMom - your dip sounds so good. I'm not sure I could exercise much portion control with it. How did you do at the shower?

Judmom - congrats on the 2lb. loss. :bravo: Don't worry if you have a bad day. Just put it behind you and commit to doing better the next day.

I'm trying to take this one day at a time right now and not look too far ahead. Yesterday I had a great OP day - within points, journaled, exercised, drank water. So today I'm commiting to one more OP day. So far, so good. I did the 2 mi Walk Away the Pounds this morning and I have a Pilates class tonight.

My body fat % is 36.8. Sounds pretty bad but it was 47.8 when I started working out in September so at least it's moving in the right direction. I'll just keep on doing what I've been doing and see where it is in two more months.

Finally, some decent weather. Bright and sunny today. It's supposed to hit 11 this afternoon so I'm hoping that most of the snow will be gone by tomorrow. I always do so much better in the spring than I do during the winter.

Have a great day everyone!

Chris

SaskieMom 04-10-2003 02:28 PM

Chris- Wow, you have lost a lot of body fat!! Way to go!!

The shower was ok- ate more than I should have but also walked in the am, carried dd around lots, and had less pts for lunch & supper. It should be ok! I will be away from home Fri/Sat/Sun, so I will have more challenges ahead...like Chris said, I am going to take it 1 day at a time! I only need to lose .2 to make my challenge goal...that is my goal for the week!

bandit2 04-15-2003 05:00 PM

Hi everyone:

Had w/i last night & was only down .2# Thought it would be more since I stayed within range & walked 12 miles. Go figure.
The lady at ww said she thought I didn't eat enough with the exercising - but I find that hard to believe. Hoping for better next week.

Bye for now & keep up the good work.

SaskieMom 04-15-2003 05:59 PM

bandit2- the lady may be right, i have to eat a lot more pts than WW recommends for my ht and wt. everyone's body is different and requires different pts to lose!

WI tonight, expecting (deserving) a gain, had only 3 OP days, although did exercise every day. will report back later!

SaskieMom 04-16-2003 09:28 AM

Hey all! I had a .2# gain. Honestly, it was completely worth it. Now I am ready to get back at it!
I walked for an hour in the sleet and snow this morning, and also did 150 abs. I am taking dd swimming later this morning. I feel great!
This weekend will be hard, I am hosting a bridal shower and a stagette on Saturday. I have a birthday supper Friday, and Easter supper on Sunday. Need to bank pts early and walk lots this week!
How is everyone doing as the Easter Challenge comes to an end? I have .4# to lose by Sunday. Shouldn't be a problem!

bandit2 04-16-2003 12:27 PM

Hi everyone:

Saskiemom - maybe it's right that I didn't eat enough points, but it sure is disappointing when you've stuck with everthing & don't show a good loss. Anyway, enough complaining from me.

You sure have alot of temptations coming up & with planning I know you will get through it. I have to lose 4# by Monday to make Easter challenge goal.

Anyway hope everyone banks some points for the weekend.

Bye for now.

SaskieMom 04-17-2003 04:50 PM

Bandit2-Hang in there, your hard work will pay off in #'s soon! Any big Easter plans?
I bought all lite/low fat ingredients for my shower and stagette. I am excited!

Judmom 04-21-2003 01:43 AM

I had no loss and know gain for the easter Challange. I am still 185. I need to plan better and figure out what I want. I keep loseing 5 then gaining it back. Anyway hope everyone else had good op weekend.

bandit2 04-22-2003 09:50 AM

Hi everyone:

Well I was up .2# last night. Only lost 1 # for the challenge.
How did everyone else end up? Are you all up for another one?

Have a good week.

Judmom 04-22-2003 11:07 AM

ARE WE GOING TO HAVE A MEMORIAL DAY CHALLANGE

SaskieMom 04-22-2003 01:53 PM

 I don't know when Memorial Day is, but count me in. I need something to get me back on track!
I only needed to lose.2 to meet my Easter Challenge, and instead I went totally 100% off program from Thursday until right now. I was snacking on chips this morning...and I have WI tonight! :( I am sure I am up at least 3# from last week, I have been a one-woman-eating-machine! I feel bloated and grumpy but keep on going!
Anyone want to be journal buddies for this next challenge?? Or maybe add journaling into the challenge to help us out?
I am in a wedding in a week and a half. The dresses aren't here, so I don't know if mine will even fit. I got some jeans from friends and was estatic to fit into a size 32 again- but that didn't stop me from eating like a crazed woman!!!
I am going to stop the eating like a nut right now, and get back on program.
What will our next challenge be?:?:

bandit2 04-22-2003 02:10 PM

Hi everyone:

Saskiemom - Memorial day is the U.S. holiday on May 26th. Guess it is like our Victoria day which is a week earlier. But the 26th would be good - would be a complete month to work on.

Hope you don't do too bad at your w/i tonight. I didn't want to go last night since I felt I would be up and I was, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Think the exercising is helping. But I have to keep on programme & exercise as well.

You know, we seem to be our own worst enemies. Everytime I get going & have a few losses, it seems I sabotage myself and end up going waaaayyy off programme.

Anyway, lets get back on track & I agree - it would be good to share journals.

So lets make May 26th our target date.

I will make this goal same as last one - to be down to 190.
Yesterday w/i was 194.2 and walk at least 12 miles per week.

Good luck everyone.

wtaunton 04-22-2003 05:56 PM

I DID IT!!! I DID IT!!!! (m)

I started the challenge at 193.8 and I wanted to lose 3 pounds.

At WI today I was 190.2!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!

I am so happy!!!!

Judmom 04-23-2003 02:00 AM

:cp: Look wtaunton I am so happy for you I am giving you an applause.
I am also going to do the Memorial Day challange.

starting 190
ending 185

 I don't how but from easter till now I gained 5 pounds. I am determined to get this weight off and start keeping it off.

SaskieMom 04-23-2003 09:17 AM

Way to go, Wendy!
Judmom- It has to be water weight, you cannot have gained 5 # in 3 days!!!!
I will start the new challenge- lets move over there.

I gained 1.2# this week, putting me almost back where I was at the start of the challenge! :( Oh well, it is the kick in the butt that I needed and I am ready to re-commit to myself, my health, and the program!
