Points plus confusion

  • Hello all, alright I am confused. I just started WW and it says I am allowed 63 points a day plus 49 weekly points. Call me crazy but this just seems like a lot to me. I'm 6' 320. Is this because I chose a default setting when setting up weight watchers? I believe it was a mini goal of 5% of my weight? This new points plus seems much more confusing to me.
  • Well I think that sounds right for your weight...I am 5'4 and 156 lbs and when I was trying PP I was allowed 29 points plus my weekly extra. In the old program (I do momentum) 1 point is roughly 50 calories so that would be over 3000 calories a day not including your F&V that are 0 points on the new PP.

Good luck and maybe some doing the PP can help more.
  • A couple of things - are you male? If so, men get a lot more points than women. It's based on gender, age, weight and height so if you entered that into the online system yourself, make sure that is correct. If it was at a meeting, you can have the receptionist/ leader check it for you. It doesn't sound like it's too much - and if you've done previous programs, the points are calculated differently now so you can't compare the two.
  • Thanks for the replies. I did it online. I plan on going to meetings just haven't had the time yet. Yes I am male.
  • Those points are accurate.

I know it sounds like a lot, but it's not.

If you're not used to the PointsPlus plan, then what you'll want to do is put the Older plans completely out of your mind. The PointsPlus are entirely different. This means that while you get more points per day, a lot of the food items have increased their points.

There have been a lot of changes since Momentum/TurnAround. While you wait to go to a meeting, just go with the flow and calculate online with the tools you have available to you.

Best of luck on your journey!
  • that sounds about right, my husband is 5'10, 282lbs and he gets 59
  • Cool, and thank you.
