Late night last night. We saw Miss Saigon. It was a national touring company and it was pretty good. I’d seen it in NY and Toronto so this was a bit of a let down. Smaller company so they changed some of the big production numbers and added a song or two. On the whole it was very worth staying up late (We didn’t get home til almost midnight) and it was fun hearing the shock from the folks who didn’t know the ending.
Only a little snow here today but BURR I don’t think we’ll see 20 degrees.
WELCOME BACK MELISSA! I love breakfast so I usually have an Eng. Muffin w /2 tsp. peanut butter and a cup of oj or some fruit and coffee. At 10:30 or 11 I try to have a cup of lite yogurt. That keeps me filled up and it’s 8 pts used before lunch. It works for me.
CYNTHIA: Glad your walking better. Don’t push it. Do some lifting, or stationary exercises til your leg is healed.
TERRI: We were supposed to see Chicago last weekend. We’re going to try again this Sunday. Your suggestions about positive thinking about food and our choices is a good one. We all know well balanced meals are the key to a healthy, body, but you’re right, we do have to work to “make it so”.
I saw Miss Saigon on Broadway a few years ago and loved it. This past thanksgiving I went and saw Chicago and I loved that too. I love Broadway plays.
I had WI tonight and I lost 1.2# so that makes me happy. I REALLY need to get back to the gym, but I need to find the time for it. But I knew I wanted to come back to 3FC because that helped and that finally happened, so the gym is going to happen next. But right now I am very tired and I need to go to bed. Melissa
j-ann - thanks for starting a new thread. It's nice to get out for an evening of theater, even if you've seen it already or it's a smaller company. I think it's nicer for the mind than sitting at home in front of the television. Glad you had a good time.
Melissa - you are like me, it's better if I add the pieces back together one at a time. There are several things that help me be successful, but I can't start them up all at once. I have to figure how to add them back in. I'd like to get back to yoga, but I keep getting injured. Hopefully in February.
As for me, ! I was so worried about my WI since the exercise was way down and I'd lost so much before. But I had another great loss of 5 lbs.!! I simply can not believe that I've lost 15 lbs. over two weeks. Keep in mind I've been off and on WW and other weight loss adventures for over 20 years now, and I've NEVER had a start like this. I thought things were supposed to slow down once I hit 40.
I am convinced it's the type of foods I'm eating, paying attention to real foods and not the processed kind. I'm still only getting stuff I like the flavor of, but it has to be nutritional and it has to have natural ingredients. Unfortunately it takes longer so my free time has been cut, but it's worth it and eventually I'll learn how to speed up the prep time. Plus with winter I have more cooked foods anyway. I am definitely going to keep learning about Ayurveda .
Congratulations Cynthia!!! That is great! You must be flying! I'm going to check out that website whenever I get a few minutes to prowl online. We're too are trying to stay away from processed foods and finding how great real food really is!
Melissa - Baby steps. That's what keeps us from being overwhelmed because this really is about making lifestyle changes. We can only do so much at a time.
For myself, I finally got some time on the spinner tonight. I've been meaning too but work has really interfered with my home life the last few weeks. Tonight, I needed it for stress relief. Relief from work stress and from the stress of meaning to get exercise in at night. I did only 15 minutes but I'll be up to 30 mins in no time if I just make it a priority. Plus I've had four days in a row being withing my point range. The little weekend blip has made me more than ever determined to not go over in points for a day. I know it will happen but at least I have sometime that I'm striving towards.
I need to get upstairs and spend time with DH and the dogs. Have a great OP evening and Friday.
Hi All,
It has been wild the last few days. I finally had a chance to read all of your posts.
I rejoined WW this evening. I had to quit Oct 15 and had gained .9. I was really pleased to gain less than a pound during the holidays.
I am trying to get really motivated for this brand new year.
My head knows what to do but WOW is this rough!
I really need to get my hubby involved in this healthy eating program. He is 260 and 5'6. He just isn't interestd and it would be great if we could do this together.
I guess that I am just looking for excuses for not losing.
I have been off program for about two weeks, not really binging just eating unhealthy. So.... I feel ucky and tired.
Tomorrow is a brand new day and I have my menu planned out.
We can do it. Weight Watchers rocks!!!!
It is the ONLY program that I can feel normal on and eat a few sweets.
Hope you have a great evening and stay warm. It is suppose to be raining and in the 20's tonight. It isn't suppose to be this cold in Mississippi.
SUE, Welcome Back to Weight Watchers. I'm glad you rejoined.
Now the real reason I jumped right in here is to tell you, Southerner that you are, that if it goes down to the 20's tonight and wet stuff falls from that cold, cold
sky, what you'll get ain't rain. Snow, sleet, ice pellets, hail, even freezing rain maybe, but not rain rain. Be very careful when you step outside tomorrow morning. What looks like wet might just be ICE!!
Terri - good for you for getting on the spinner. I'm assuming that's a spin bike. If so, then take it easy until your @ss gets used to it!! I know how sore mine gets when I get back to it, .
Sue - that is quite an accomplishment, gaining less than a pound over the holidays. Kudos to you!!!! DH started WW on Monday, but all that means is I journal for him. I keep it on the fridge so he can see what he's eating. I make the meals so it's not a big deal, and so far he's staying within his points. I doubt he thinks it's fair since I get more than him, but I also weigh about 30 lbs. more as well. Someday I'll finally weigh less!!! The hard part is making him eat veggies and get in good exercise. He's been banking points since Monday so that tonight he can have 2 cups of spaghetti with lots of Parmesan and a coke .
j-ann - I HATE ice. My little truck went off the road and down the side of a hill during an ice storm in Kansas City. I kept checking the roads now and then and things seemed fine. Then all of a sudden they weren't. . I was fine though, no injuries, but a few people did die in car accidents that night, so it's nothing to play around in.
Just got done with two laps around the park and icing my ankle. Still having to go slow so that's frustrating - you don't earn as many APs doing a light workout as you do with a medium one . But whatever. As long as I keep losing I'm fine with things the way they are.
Once again no precip for Denver. Things are just looking so dry, you can see dust in the park when people let their dogs run around out there. It will be interesting to see what it looks like in the spring.
Its been a quiet Sunday. Thankfully warm enough to put the dogs outside for awhile. We finally have a little bit of snow. Only about 3-4 inches. We, too, are desparate for moisture.
Food has been okay the last couple of days. Yesterday, I drove down to spend the day with mom. I had warned her ahead of time not to bake a bunch of stuff and this time she actually complied. I only had two donut holes and a bite-size Snickers. Normally, I munch on all kinds of bad stuff. I even drove home with the box of donut holes at my elbow for two hours (I had taken my nephew down and he was taking them home). I thought about them - a lot - but I wasn't about to open them up while he was sleeping!!!
I can't say that I've accomplished much else this weekend.
Cynthia - I did get the palm pilot program loaded. Looks great. Thanks! How's the ankle?
Sue - Hope you didn't get ice. I live in Kansas City and we had a nasty ice storm last January. I understand about how it would be easier if your DH would participate. It does make it easier to forget what we're trying to do if there are too many temptations around. DH is finally seeing that I am serious when I say "I'm not eating that or don't fix me so much food". Good luck!
Jen - When you sell something on ebay, how do you determine the shipping costs? I have been toying with trying to sell some clothes. Hope you are doing okay.
Terri - what a great NSV on the eating there girl!! That is wonderful. The ankle isn't doing well, but that's because I pushed it a little too hard the last couple of days by trying to walk faster. I'm going to head to the gym the next two days and get my cardio on the elliptical trainer. I think a no-impact workout will be good. Let me know if you have problems getting the program to run.
Today was beautiful, 63 degrees. Very weird, for Denver. We get a few days like that, but now it's a series. It hasn't been very cold at all here this season. Oops, Avs are back on tv, gotta go.
Went to WI today since we leave tomorrow morning. Down another 1.2 lbs for a total of 16.2 lost. I wonder if I'll get my old cycle back - big loss, big loss, nothing. It didn't bother me because the average was still over 3 lbs/week. This time I don't have a time line, though, so no worries. As long as I stay OP it will come off. Getting mad over a small loss (less than a pound) and eating because of it will just head me in the other direction and makes no sense. Persistence, baby !
I won't be posting again until next Tuesday (not sure when we get back on Monday). Hope there's lots of posts for me to catch up on!!!
Just stopping in for a sec. Been pretty much OP for 2 days. Didn't get to WI again Snow, snow, snow, cold, cold, snow, snow, snow. And the worse is always on Monday afternoon. I think we're officially at 100 inches for the season.
The roads have been so greasy I've gone to work, come home and stayed home. I like snow but I like it a lot better when there's time to plow the roads once in a while.
Gosh, its Wednesday already! The week has been a busy one. Monday was truly awful. Mental trauma more than anything (read my journal for details!) which caused me to do two things that I have been working hard at not doing (1) stress eating and (2) letting it affect me at home. By the time I got home, DH was still figuring out what to eat and I was so irritated, I said I want pizza then and he said okay. I've been drinking lots of water for two days to offset the salt. To look at the bright side, I didn't do any stress eating until I got home and it was only the pizza - no other snarfing. But it did keep me from sleeping well - I was up at 1:30 am and didn't go back to sleep. But these past two days, I've been right back in the good eating habits. That is getting easier.
We got more snow today. J-Ann, you will laugh at this but we got another INCH! You've had 100 inches and we've had a grand total of FOUR! And I don't live in the south either. But its bitter cold today. The dogs were cooped up in the kitchen all day and since they were good dogs and didn't chew anything up, I chased them up and down the hallway. They love to run up and down the hall. They make turnarounds in our bedroom and the living room. Much needed exercise and fun.
I've got on my calendar to go to official WI tomorrow night. I can feel that I need that extra motivation so that I don't forget what I'm doing. I don't plan on going every week so I haven't been since I joined. I may quit doing the online journal now that I have the Palm journal that Cynthia shared. That would save me some bucks too.
Cynthia - Congrats on your 1.2 loss!! Much better than a gain. Looks like your style of healthy eating is paying off. My doc says that as long as your weight is doing down each year, even if its less than 5 pounds, that is better than a gain. Have a fun and safe trip!
J-Ann - Good to see you again! Winter is kicking your booty big time up there. Yes, I've been trying to be more consistent about water. I do okay at work unless I'm in meetings all day. Its home that I "forget". Two days OP is good - keep it up. Having written this, think I'll go upstairs and get a glass. Take care and hope to see you more often again, GF!
Its cold downstairs so I think I'm going upstairs to turn the bed on and do a little reading.
Everyone else, come out and play with us! We miss you and need your support!
Another 6 inches of snow last night and it was below Zero! They
have finally quit trying to salt the roads and gone to plowing and sanding. Much better. At these temps salt just makes it worse. It's much easier to drive an sanded hardpack.
Has been awhile since I posted. I have been having the most frustrating computer problems. Had my hard drive cleaned out and everything reloaded so the computer seems to working fine but am having a frustrating problem now with AOL. I keep getting disconnected! GRRRRR! It is a fairly new modem so I am not sure what the deal is. Guess I will have to check with my computer guy and see if he has any suggestions. Or maybe change internet providers. It is just so frustrating.
Anyway, I did an official weigh in at work today, as we have a digital and accurate scale, I bought a new journal and have tried to work out a plan, so I an had a great OP today. I really feel like I am ready to get this weight off before I have really serious health problems. Having my 47th birthday on Saturday made me realize how lucky I am that I am really fairly healthy but I know at some point my good luck will certainly run out and I don't want to try to deal with a health issue with an extra 115#! If I have any luck with my computer, I hope to post on a more consistent basis instead of being just a lurker!
J-ann.....I can not believe how much snow you have gotten! It sure takes a hardy soul to live in that part of the country! Here in Indiana we have had snow consistently on the ground since about Christmas, but only in small doses of 2-3 inches at a time. It sure is cold here tonight! BRRRRR
I am heading for bed and the warmth of the covers for tonight! Have a great Friday everyone!
