Default PP vs Momentum success stories

I lost 40 pounds on the old WW Momentum plan a while ago. A few years and one baby later I have gained 30 back I am ready to commit to WW again, but am trying to decide which plan to follow. At the beginning of the year I went to a few meetings and purchased all of the new plan materials. I gave it a try for a few weeks but didn't see a loss and was frustrated learning the new plan. I also had a young infant at home and not a lot of time to dedicate to it.
So here I am 6 months later and I am ready to really commit to getting healthy again and I have a closet full of clothes I want to be able to wear again!

I guess this is a long way of asking which plan you have found the most success with?? It would be easiest to go with Momentum since I've done it before, but I am more than open to learning the new PP plan. I'd just like to hear some good success stories first

I have done both Momentum and points plus and LOVE points plus. To me, its much easier to follow and in 13 weeks I've lost 33.5 pounds. I'm a nursing mom and find it works well with that. I have always loved fruits, but was always loathe to spend points on them. Now I have a huge bowl of fruit salad (+/- fat free cool whip) for lunch without any guilt or spending points (except maybe for the cool whip depending on how much i use). I am also getting more veggies in--overall, I'm not nearly as hungry as I usually am when I'm on a diet.
I also have lost using Momentum in the past, but the plan was no where near as easy for me to stay on as PP. I feel much less deprived on PP than I did on momentum. If I'm really hungry at night, even after using all my points, I can still have a snack of fruit without any guilt/worries etc, which actually makes me less likely to have something/binge (I always want what I can't have).
For me, PP is more of a lifestyle and less of a program or plan I"m following.
Hope this helps!

I started WW in November before Momentum went out and PP came in.

I did Momentum for 3 weeks and I have been on PP for 28 weeks. I lost about of 0.8 lbs per week on Momentum and about of 1.4 lbs per week on PP. When I stick to plan, both work. But for me, PP works better. Same reasons as Erin. I feel like I am eating a lot of more PP, but I am still seeing weight loss. And, I am able to track the GHGs better, I'm exercising more and I'm enjoying the plan as a whole!

I haven't been doing as well as I could be, but I am back on track this week. When I look at my signature I am proud of the lbs lost, but the time it's taken me (because I go off plan and gain, etc.) I get frustrated with myself. Like I said, when I stick to the plan, it works!

If you can make it to meetings, I highly suggest them!

Here is my thread a couple of weeks ago on this topic:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weig...-momentum.html

For me over a six month period PP was far more successful than Momentum. Obviously this may vary for different people depending on what they like to eat.

If I was starting afresh though I would start with PP since that is what all the materials are based upon, soon all the WW foods in the store will have PP on them, and PP is what is talked about in the meetings. The difference between PP and Momentum is really not radical. The points are calculated a little differently and your daily points are more on PP (and lots of food are now a little higher in points), but the basic structure of how to eat are the same. Fruit is now zero point but that isn't that hard to implement.

If it was me, I would start out with PP for those reasons and then if it didn't work switch back to Momentum. I fully understand not wanting to switch to a new program. Way back when I lost weight on the exchange program WW used and going to Points was a radical change. Yet, in time, it was just too difficult to try to follow WW and not do the current program.

I've done both successfully.

I'm tending to like P+ more, because of the focus on fat/carbs/protein and not just calories. They're truly urging members to use the majority of their points wisely, while still leaving room for treats that we want from time to time.

And I know that it's still the same amount of food, but there's something mentally comforting about having more points with which to play around.

I've always liked how Weight Watchers has focused on healthy eating while still being flexible enough to fit in daily life, and P+ is just another healthy step forward for their program.

And, you can't do portions of PP and Momentum together. IE Don't try to do zero point fruit with momentum, it's not going to work.

I lost the first 90lbs on Momentum and a little over 20lbs on P+!

When I first started WW in July 2010 I had a consistent loss (average 4lbs a month) up until we were given points plus in Nov. I gave the new points plus a four month try and saw that I was loosing and gaining the same three lbs so I went back to momentum. I kept a record of both programs and with momentum I got 21pts which is equivalent to 23 points plus. Needless to say I am loosing again on momentum and will stick with this plan.

Is there a group on here that follows just the Points Plus plan?

The majority of this board follows the new PointsPlus plan. The Momentum/flex board are people following the old plan.

I've done both, was successful on both, but I love P+. I feel better, am making better food choices, rarely feel hungry, and I am motivated to exercise which is so NOT like me.

The weight is coming off slower on P+, but I'm okay with that, as I think it means I'll keep it off in the long run.

Agree, on all points. I'm having some sort of health problem right now and I'm not able to exercise but I have lost weight on flex and on PP and I much prefer PP. It is easier for me to follow, I'm rarely hungry, I'm making better choices. I love it. It doesn't feel like a diet at all but a healthy, adult way to eat.

I've noticed the weight loss is slower but I am older now, a chronic dieter, etc. As long as it stays off it will take as long as it takes and that is just fine.

I have done the previous WW program on my own but have never lost anything on it. I always felt I didn't get enough to eat. Granted I don't have that much to lose because I always watched my weight.
But I wanted to loose the baby weight. Well the "baby" is 10 yrs old now and I want to look good in that Bikini. So last Monday I signed up with WW online. Boy what an overhaul they have made on their Plan. I eat pretty healthy anyways but my problem simply is overeating. With the new PP I don't feel starving myself anymore. I think I am really going to make it this time. I lost 1.3 lbs in the first week. My snacks are mostly fruits and veggies.

This is the most important factor for me. I have a MUCH healthier relationship with food now. It doesn't feel like a diet. It feels like healthy eating with the bonus of losing weight.
