Do yall have an exact goal weight or do you have a goal clothing size?
Just curious because when I first started WW I put down 130 as my goal. But now I'm not sure why I picked that weight. I don't even know what size I would wear at that weight. So now I am thinking I am gonna kinda stop focusing on an exact number and just shoot for a clothing size.
Sounds fine to me! You will have to do a 6 week maintenance and they go by your goal weight, as long as you keep that in mind I think you'll be fine!
So far my leader and the weigh in people haven't asked me what my goal weight is, but maybe it's because I'm so far away from the weight considered healthy for my frame (according to the BMI).
Size is fine, but remember that every clothing manufacturer has their own idea of what a size 12 (or whatever) means. If you go by sewing pattern sizes, those are standardized and don't change. Maybe pick the size of jeans in the brand you wear? I just know that a size 12 in an expensive piece of clothing is usually bigger than one from a discount shop. They call it "vanity sizing."
Clothing sizes vary by brand so that would not be an exact goal. I can buy Jeans that are anywhere from a 10, 12, 14 and they all fit perfectly. The best thing to shot for is a healthy BMI and BF.
Your WW goal weight must be in their range or you will need a doctor's note.

I'm the same as Quilter - right now I've got 14s, 12s, and 10s and they all seem to fit fine. I've got a dress in an 8 that I only fit into still because of the cut (loose around my arse - ha!). I keep a number as a more precise goal but I'm still hoping to wear a size 6 or so when I'm there. If somehow I was close to goal and wearing a 2, I might reassess my goal but that seems quite unlikely haha.
I'm heavier on the bottom, so my pant size is like a size or two higher than my shirt size. Plus, because there is no real standard across different brands and stores, it would be pretty tricky for me to pick a size to aim for.
I picked a weight based on what a healthy BMI for my height would be. As I get closer to it I am going to take a look at my goal and make sure it is realistic.
Well, I looked online with different ideal weight/BMI calculators and most say ideal weight is 122lbs... I can't even imagine myself at that weight so I chose 136 as the highest normal weight. Should be interesting since my lowest was 150 in high school and 170 as an adult at 18.
I have set my goal weight at the top of my WW goal range. I figure that when I get to that weight I will see how I look and feel and determine if I want to lose more. I am a lifetime member and 20 years ago my goal weight was 20 pounds less than my current goal weight. I did look good but it wasn't a sustainable weight for me at that time.
For WW purposes I actually would tend to pick a goal weight that was at the top of the range and then after maintenance lose more if I wanted but not change the official goal weight.
All of that said, I wouldn't be too focused on weight. Percentage of body fat is important as well and two people can be the same weight and one can be very overfat while the other can have more muscle and less fat and be smaller in terms of measurements. So it really pays at that point to look more at measurements and body fat percentage than the number on the scale or even BMI (which is fine in general but not necessarily all that relevant for people with lots of muscle and low body fat).
Interesting, I watched Dr Oz today and it was how sizes are so different with each designer, clothing store. They did a show of like 5 different designers in a size 12 and there was up to 5 inches difference!
As you lose weight and buy different clothes you will figure out what weight your most comfortable with and what looks best.
I think it's a fine goal as long as you're okay with the fact that sizes from different stores are bound to be a little different from each other.
I'm so far away from a goal weight that I have no idea what my body will be like as I get down to a normal range. I keep setting small goals for myself and then as I reach them I set goals below that. I have a feeling I'll keep doing that until I reach a comfortable spot.
I have the weight I wouldn't mind being (140) and my ultimate goal (130). I have this skirt-jean non-stretch-from before I got pregnant the first time. I bought it when I was losing those beer pounds in college and was sooo close to fitting into it as motivation. Instead I got pregnant and my weight kept rising.
I want to fit back into that skirt. It's a size 7 from 2002. I put it against a friend's jeans which were a 5. The waist was the same. That's my ultimate goal.
