Unhappy Week one aaahhhh

I am on Day four of Weight Watchers and am already a bit discouraged. Day one I ate exactly my 37 points, day two I ate 47, day three I ate 50. I am so determined to only eat my points today! I'm finding that an apple only keeps me satisfied for maybe an hour and my usual snacks were 5 to 6 points with my meals being 15+ plus. I'm craving fats and carbs. Help me I need suggestions and encouragement. Thank you

Hi Sparkly

You gotta just hang in there. The first week of a diet is THE hardest part. Your body still hasn't finished adjusting to the different hormone levels that come with eating a drastically different diet. Carbs beget carb cravings, and that little roller coaster of misery alone takes about 3 days to ride out.

Your week is still salvageable! Even though you went over on your daily target 2 days, that's what flex points are for I LOVE that I can feel like I'm getting a "cheat" sometimes and still be on plan because it is part of the structure.

Sounds like it's time to find some new snacks. Find some new things that are lower in points. If we want our bodies to change, we have to change the things we're putting into them.

I personally like sugarfree pudding cups, fat free cream cheese on honey wheat Nature's Own bread, whole wheat crackers....and for the times when I really need that REAL fatty/carby craving to be satisfied-there are a few types of Little Debbies that are less than 150 calories. Scour those grocery aisles for low point finds and fill your pantry with those things instead of your usual foods.

You CAN do this!!! Just hang in there, it does get easier.

Do not be afraid to use your weeklies. That being said, if you are doing points + you have 26 left.

I'm thinking of mixing in 5 ritz crackers with my apple. They're only two points and I'm hoping that it'll give me enough of the carb kick for now. I'm using an interdependently made weight watchers Android app (AMAZING - tracks weight, points, calculates points and has a food search) and goggling to find out all I can about the points plus system. I'm also on day three of my blood pressure meds (I started averaging 140/90) and although I may never get off of them (they are the first thing to control my heat palps. I've had a full range of heart tests and all checks out great) I don't want to have to be on them at my age for high blood pressure. Plus being a size 26/28 sucks!

On the bright side I have noticed a huge change in how my body feels on the weight watchers system. I never realized how much fat, carbs, and junk I was putting into me

I don't know which app you downloaded, but there is a big difference between momentum and points +. You cannot mix the two. So make sure to find out which program the app is following. I would suggest signing up for weight watchers online if you want to do points plus.

Instead of having crackers with your apple (and thus carbs with more carbs), I'd suggest some protein. I usually have fruit with some greek yogurt or a small piece of cheese (or peanut butter would be good too). It keeps you fuller longer.
Also you may find it helps to have smaller meals more often and then you don't have to wait so long to eat again. I usually have breakfast, lunch, a small snack in the afternoon or after a workout, dinner and dessert.
Make sure you're drinking lots of water, too. That helps with the hunger factor.

My dad does WW online and I've double checked my app with the calculators - it's accurate. I buy sunbutter (I'm allergic to peanuts) which would be quite yummy with an apple Good idea!

Where did you come up with your point allowance? I guess I'm confused. Are you a WW member yourself or are you just trying to follow the plan on your own?

I'm following the plan on my own but am able to use all of the WW online resources (my dad and I share the user name/password but I created the online profile in his name so that he could easily track his points).

Then for starters, your point allowance is wrong. I am 5'5" and started at 279 pounds - and I started at 41 points per day. I've lost 15 pounds and I'm still at 39 points per day.

I'm all for doing positive things for your health but be forewarned that by not having all of the proper information, you may not get the full benefit.

I weighed 248lbs and am 5'6" when i started...and i was 38 points. I concur, your points sound incorrect for your stats... unless it is a major difference due to age? i am 31yrs old.

I am 227lbs right now and i am at 36 points.

Make sure that the calculations you're using are for points plus, too. Most foods have different points between the two systems....points plus is usually higher.

Points plus is still relatively new and it's hard to find the resources to do this yourself without actually getting the materials from weight watchers. Most of the points calculators, lists, etc that you will find online are older and only refer to the momentum/flex. You could run into trouble here, if you have to look up/calculate a food and it gives you momentum value-the points will be less than what you're supposed to count. I agree that if you're doing PP you should go with ONLY the official material.

I learned as much as I could about both plans and chose to do Momentum. It's really about personal preferences, but either way you go you can still get lots of support here. The forums on the official site kinda suck.

I have verified my food point values to WWonline and then saved them in my app tracker. The app is just my version of a pen and paper - I still like to go to WWonline and double check my foods.

My age is 24, weight 325, height 5ft 6in and I said zero activity level

a friend of mine has similar stats to you...she may be an inch taller that you or so, but that looks to be about it, but she was at 52 points at those stats. I dont have my little calculator with me to look, i will do it when i get home from work... since i am curious.
