Default considering WW

Hi, been looking around for something to help me re-lose the weight i gained getting pregnant, and lose more to get to my goal weight of 150 (dont think ive ever been that!), and i've gone over meal replacements, counting calories, probably everything you can think of... even that heart diet, which is mostly soup.....
long story short (sorry ^_^)... does Weight Watchers work? Is it worth the money? I guess specifically the points plus. Im a little stand-offish to spend the money for a membership (thats not a gym (lol)) ~ i want to be sure it works ~ as things can be a little tight with a 5 month old.

thanks

WW has worked for me. About 10 years ago I went from 220 to 145 in about a year. Now I'm working on losing 50 lbs- to get down to 150 I'm only an inch taller than you
Originally I did ww w/ my mom so I had her support. At the times I tried it with out any form of support it didn't work,- I didn't work at it. This time I'm attending meetings. I used ot not believe in meetings but it took me finding a good leader and group for it to help. I like it because there are no 'off limits' foods and you can eat smart ones and ww food if you want but you don't have to.
Good luck on whatever you choose

Weight Watchers ABSOLUTELY works!! I have lost 102lbs in 13 months and the only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner..

The first 3 months were a challenge because I was a severe binge eater, food to me was like Heroin is to an addict. I knew that if I really wanted to succeed it was going to be all or nothing and decided I would give it 110%. Before Weight Watchers I tried many diets and while I lost weight I went off track shortly after and gained every pound back. Weight Watchers has literally given me my life back!

If you put the work in and give it your all, you WILL succeed. Don't be afraid that if you have one bad day that you have to throw in the towel. I have had many horrible weeks and went on a few binges but I knew I had to get back on track the next day.

The great thing about Weight Watchers is that it's affordable compared to Jenny Craig, L.A. Weightloss, Etc. I pay $13 a week and it's worth every penny because of the support I receive. You can also do it online using ETools which is cheaper than attending the meetings, I believe it's $10 a month or you can buy a 3 month package.

It works if you work it! The money I save on food more than pays for my online membership every month.

very convincing!!! i feel like i need the meetings even if just a few (change my membership after a few months) to feel accountable. Right now they have the 9.22 a week deal .. but im going in tomorrow to ask questions - get information.
I can also imagine that the number they give you is easier than counting calories, right? my husbands friend's mom is doing WW, and she said there is a calculator, where you input fiber, etc etc and gives you the WW point value according to that. Is that in E-tools too?

Easiest way to learn is just to start doing it. Good luck!

Online is $17.95 a month. The best thing about WW is that you DO NOT have to purchase any special foods. No expensive, nasty pre-packaged food, no stuff to mix, nothing. You CAN buy the WW stuff, and some of it is great, but honestly there are store brand "light" versions of just about every branded WW product that are comparable in points.

It is absolutely worth seventeen dollars to me to have found a plan that works. 11 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks? And I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. It's amazingly easy to do, even just online. I've never set foot in a meeting and I already feel like a pro.

WW works and is the only thing that has not only helped me lose weight but made me change my life. Unlike other diets that restrict what you eat, WW lets you eat what you want but in moderation. It teaches you what you want food wise and what you actually need. In learning what was right and wrong I changed my eating habits drastically. Certain diets work because it is so restrictive but as soon as you are done, the weight comes right back. With WW you learn a lifestyle and that it takes work to get to your goal, but 100% worth it. I love WW!!!

Ya weight watchers is incredibly great. Its a little bit intimidating at first... you stress about every food you put in your mouth, worried that the points of your food will be more than your allowed etc, but dont stress it. Like Kimberly said, you will have bad days, but you can get right back on track the very next day. Dont even waste time thinking about it. Just do it!!

And make sure you come here all the time to the forums because there is some fantastic support here. Great ideas, recipes etc. Also, i love the meetings, i have met some really cool people there. Its certainly a great help.

The think the biggest problem is diets is that people think they are 'magic bullets' and if they 'fail' it is because of the diet and not because of them. The only way to lose weight and keep it off for life is to be accountable to yourself. I tried every diet in the book, and every diet will work if you follow it. The problem is, people don't take personal responsibility for their weight loss and what they put in their mouths (me included for many years).

The great thing about WW is that it teaches you how to eat for the rest of your life, incorporating healthy foods, how to manage stress, and how to be accountable. But if you aren't willing to change for the long-term, it won't work, just like every other plan won't work if you can't stick to it.

Good luck! Sorry if this became a soap-box

its fine and all true. I think you're also more likely to stick to it because you're forking out money for it

I joined WW and have been doing it for just 4 weeks, but have lost every week - I'm down 8 pounds already. I chose to go to the meetings and not do the on-line, because I know that when I have to show up and get weighed by a real person it makes me more accountable for every bite I put in my mouth. ;-) I also love to see and hear what others in the group have to suggest. I love the plan because the new "free" foods are fruits and veggies, things I love to fill up on anyway. In the old plan, you had to count them as points. I hope to get to my goal weight of 145 by June.

Good luck to you!

I joinged weight watchers exactly one month ago and when I weighed in last night I was down a total of 14.8 pounds for the month. It is a great program and the meetings give me the support that I needed.
