It's hard to believe that it's November since the weather here has been "balmy" with temps in the 60's and 50's the past few days. We've had some bad storms go through our area over the weekend.
Only 42 days until Christmas...I need to get moving and get a list going as far as what I need to get. We don't buy a lot of stuff for the kids but I'd like to get my shopping done early so I'm not scrambling the week before trying to get things.
So, what are everyone's plans for Thanksgiving? Mine will be on the quiet side--DH is leaving for Wales on the 21st and won't be back until Dec. 1. We'll have a quiet dinner with my parents. I'm looking at a new recipe from Cooking Light for sweet potatoes that looks yummy. We usually cook up a turkey breast rather than a whole turkey since everyone likes the white meat.
Just back from my meeting -- the first I've been to in over a month. Hopefully it will give me the motivation I need to start losing again. According to my home scale I stayed more or less the same from last week although I am up 3.2 lbs. from the last time I officially weighed in at WW. Hopefully despite all my financial problems, sugar problems and other stresses I can start to see those numbers decline again. What I decided to do is go up one ww range since the 18-23 range is ridiculous with my hypoglycemic diet -- just can't do that. I figured I'm better off having a more realistic range rather than keeping on blowing it. Wish me luck this coming week.
Myra: Good for you for getting to a meeting. I agree, your plan sounds good in terms of going up in the range and would more than likely be easier to work with your special dietary needs. The 18-23 range is challenging and I have to be creative to stay within that area.
Hallelujah I'm home for a few days. Thanksgiving is hectic here. We do our annual Saturday before Thanksgiving shindig next Saturday and then I'm off for the parental visit on Wednesday. That weekend, its off to Brussels and then back. Yikes.
Christmas will be small and mellow here. I'm looking at keeping stuff to a minimum. No more travel after Dec. 17.
Other than that, I'm up from London, but it'll be gone by the end of the week.
Myra, I'm proud of you for going to a meeting. I suppose I should do the same.
Myra: I tried to reply to your post yesterday re eating in a higher point range, but I guess it didn't take. Anyway, what I said was that I have never had much luck staying within the 18-23 point range. It just isn't realistic for me, and every time I try to fit into it, I end up overeating because I'm-- well-- hungry. I seem to do OK as long as I don't go over 28 points. BTW, congrats on getting to a meeting. Can't believe I've let two months go by without weighing in..
Melissa: Thanks for the wake-up call re Christmas. I know it's looming, but I get stuck in some sort of time warp every year and end up in the stores at the last minute for no good reason. I resolve to do better this year. So, hubby is going to Wales? Across the pond? Any chance you could go along?
It's 3:20 pm and already dark outside. We've received an awful lot of rain in the last 24 hours. The only bright side is it's warm, warm, warm. I've been running in shorts!
Susan- London was okay. I can't believe that I am saying that. Is that blase or what? It was not the best trip of my life, but it was nice to see the shops, eat good food and enjoy a city that is not my own. I was just tired. However, we had a nice time together and DP got some sleep. Paris was fun. We found a park that I wanted to see and she had a crepe. We also had an elegant cup of coffee at Brasserie Lutetia. I look forward to a night in Paris in December. Woo hoo.
Good on ya for running. I should start again. I hate its dark, I love its warm though.
Okay, tomorrow am I'm thinking of weighing in. I hope I don't break any scales .
Melissa- What is DH doing in Wales? Is this is a rugby thing? I think you should go too.
Lala & Susan: Hubby is going for rugby--every 3 years there is a group of guys that go overseas to play. They were supposed to go last year but things got canceled due to the attacks in NY. Anyway, they'll be leaving on Thursday and won't be back until December 1st. He's excited since they'll be seeing the match between the New Zealand's All Blacks and Cardiff, his two favorite teams. As far as I know no women tag along and to be honest I don't know that I'd want to be along with a bunch of rugby guys. This whole tour is like a giant fraternity initiation. They have a judge, fines, rules, etc. I usually end up on the better end anyway because he brings me back some really nice things
